In a update given by Big Hit regarding legal actions against malicious activities related to BTS, the Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced one of the perpetrators to pay 3400$ in fines.
To remind you about the severity of Internet posts and their consequences: In May 2018, a Taehyung's stan posted a graphic and disturbing message on Curious Cat about how she will kill Jimin at the "Love Yourself" concert in Fort Worth, Texas, in September.
A similar threat was aimed at Jimin (again) for the 4 Los Angeles concerts happening earlier this same month.
Security was tighten. The year before, numorous death threats were adressed towards Jimin by Americans antis, where the group would tour.
Hello,
This is Big Hit Entertainment.
Big Hit regularly initiates legal proceedings against perpetrators of malicious activities related to BTS, including ill-intentioned criticism, the spread of groundless information, sexual harassment, personal attacks and defamation. We would like to provide an update on these activities.
Recently, the maximum possible sentence was levied on the perpetrator of malicious internet postings against whom we had filed three separate criminal complaints for defamation. On July 30 and September 1, 2020, the Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced the perpetrator, who had engaged in repeated defamatory activities, to four million KRW in total fines for all three cases, including a maximum sentence allowable by law. Public defamation carries a sentence of up to one year in prison or two million won in fines, highlighting the seriousness of the sentences passed down by the court for this case.
We are filing additional criminal complaints to individuals who continue to operate internet accounts and make malicious postings even after being questioned by the police for initial investigation. If these perpetrators continue to engage in criminal activities after a court sentence, we plan to file for damages in civil court and there will be no settlement or leniency. In addition, please note that we are providing law enforcement with postings that make light of police investigations or spread false information about these legal proceedings.
We have recently filed additional criminal complaints using new information provided by fans as well as collected through our monitoring initiatives. Big Hit will continue to collect information on malicious postings regarding BTS, report them to the authorities and file criminal complaints. We ask that you make continued use of our hotline (protect@bighitcorp.com) to report any cases of abuse.
We are always grateful for the affection and dedication shown by our fans to BTS. We will continue to work to ensure that the rights of our artists are fully protected.
Thank you.

Date: 2020-09-24 08:10 pm (UTC)I don’t think they found the American anti’s identity (and she wasn’t alone for the 2018 threats against Jimin but the US authorities tried to track her down as the threat was legit scary), but here I’m guessing the anti is Korean, we don’t know what kind of malicious posts were made though.
