BTS Breaks Record For Stock Pre-Orders In Just 1 Week With “Map Of The Soul: 7”

Just one week after opening pre-orders for “Map of the Soul: 7,” BTS has already broken their record for stock pre-orders!

On January 16 KST, Big Hit Entertainment officially announced that BTS’s upcoming studio album “Map of the Soul: 7” had achieved the group’s highest number of stock pre-orders yet. According to music distributor Dreamus Company, “Map of the Soul: 7” surpassed 3.42 million stock pre-orders in the seven days from January 9 (the date pre-orders opened) to January 15, meaning that it has already broken the previous record set by BTS’s 2019 mini album “Map of the Soul: Persona.”

Additionally, “Map of the Soul: 7” is currently enjoying its eighth consecutive day at No. 1 on Amazon’s realtime CD & Vinyl Best Sellers chart.

BTS’s fourth studio album “Map of the Soul: 7” will be released on February 21, while the music video for the album’s lead single will drop a week later on February 28.

Maybe my age is showing, but I cannot with the idea of buying something before actually listening to it. Why spend a good amount of money on something that maybe I don't like? And seems like that's the schtick nowadays, I guess to nail those sales numbers before the release and hold on to them in case the album, you know, sucks lol.

i hear ya

with music, i wait until i have heard it, confirmed that i like it and buy to support the artist, usually digitally. so preorders aren't even a concern.

physical albums, i don't buy them at all usually, let alone preorder them … but bts is a bit of an exception here because i enjoy their concepts, the theoretical backbone of their work the most?

i haven't preordered yet because i want to know more about the concept. i will preorder if i like the concept of the physical album; that is the only thing that matters to me in this regard. i don't buy the album for the music necessarily because i can get the music through digital channels; same with other artists.

I'm new to kpop so this whole concept albums thing is different, I'm only used to buy albums for the music (and only from artists I really love), besides Kpop albums where I live are soooo expensive.

Also, having 5 different versions of one same album is just too much consumption/potential waste for me, but I understand the appeal.

with jungkook, someone once described him as having a beautiful face but also very manly and I kind of agree. he has this ability to have a baby face but can be super hot. i don't know... i've never really been this attracted to someone's appearance. like objectively, taehyung probably has a more "perfect" face but jungkook is so attractive to me. also it helps he has such an upbeat personality

I, too agree with the comments on preorders. I have never preordered anything in my life and won’t start now but the two tracks released sound great!
