Happy Friday! Every week I check out the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’re going back to the 2nd week of January, 2015. All the songs have been posted once before, so this time we’ll see some comeback stages.



#3 Noel “Your Voice”
I played this a few times, and it still doesn’t sound familiar to me. They sound good though, as expected from Noel. This was one of the songs off of their “Invisible Things” EP.

#2 EXID “Up & Down”
We all know the story…after a Hani fancam became viral months after the song’s release (almost 31 million views now), both the song and the group would blow up big. They started promoting the song again, hitting #1 on the charts and getting their first ever music show win just after the new year. Here’s their comeback stage, just a day after the song’s initial release back in August 2014.

#1 Mad Clown featuring Jinsil “Fire”
I remember this song mainly because of the MV. It featured EXID’s Hani, who was everywhere (like, foreals EVERYWHERE) at the time because of “Up & Down”. The song itself features the vocals of Mad Soul Child’s Jinsil. It would be his first #1 song since his collab with Soyou, “Stupid In Love”.

#5 Jonghyun “Deja Boo”
Out of all the Shinee solos, Jonghyun’s were always my favorite. And this is my most favorite of his songs. I love love love love this song so much. It just always sounds so good, no matter what mood I’m in. The song would reach #1, and this pre-release would later be included in Jonghyun’s solo debut EP, “Base”.

#6 Apink “LUV”
In addition to giving the group their first triple crowns wins, this song would give them a total of 17 music show wins, the highest number of girl group wins for a single song. I feel like I remember they promoted this for a long time, and I guess that makes sense since it was released in November of the previous year and was still in the top ten in January. Ooh that first shot of Naeun at :17, so pretty!

Wow NOEL. I got introduced to the group because BTOB loves covering their songs. I really love great vocal groups/artists. Same with you OP, I'm not very familiar with this song.

I'm always surprised at Apink's longevity. I like them, but there are girl groups out there who are just as talented that don't last or gain traction after a while. I really didn't they they will remain to be a solid group after all these years, considering how heavily saturated the cutesy idol concept is when they debuted, and even after. They evolved but not too much, which I guess works for them because it keeps the fanbase loyal.

Up and Down, Deja Boo, and Luv were all great songs. Exid’s story is a fairytale come true and I’m glad that the girls have mostly established something for themselves.

Luv is probably Apink’s peak, and after that Remember and Five were rehashes of their old glory songs. And then came their second wind!
