BTS’s Jungkook Questioned For Causing Minor Car Accident + Big Hit Releases Official Statement

BTS’s Jungkook is being investigated regarding a recent car accident.

According to the police on November 4, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station booked Jungkook and questioned him on the charge of violating the Road Traffic Act.

Jungkook was driving his Mercedes-Benz in the neighborhood of Hannam in Yongsan District on November 2 when he violated a traffic regulation and ran into a taxi. Both Jungkook and the taxi driver received treatment at the hospital for bruises.
A source of the police commented that exact details cannot be revealed, and the accident is currently being investigated.

Big Hit Entertainment has released an official statement regarding the car accident that Jungkook was involved in.

The agency released the following statement:

"This is a statement regarding member Jungkook’s car accident. The police have not closed this case yet, so we cannot reveal the exact details, but Jungkook was driving his car last week when he had a minor collision with another vehicle due to his own mistake.

Both the victim and Jungkook did not sustain any major injuries. Jungkook admitted that he violated the road Traffic Act immediately after the accident. The scene of the accident was resolved and police questioning was completed according to the due process, and an amicable settlement was made with the victim afterwards. We once again apologize to the victim, and we also express apologies for causing concern to fans. Thank you."

I'm glad it was minor, that both the taxi driver and him are okay, and I'm glad he admitted responsibility. Accidents happen, but the vast majority of them are preventable and so I hope he learns to be a little more attentive in the future.

I am almost entirely done with dealing with ARMY about this however. I got ripped to shreds and was sent about 8-9 awful PM's ("Stop rubbing it in", "He didn't do anything wrong stop spreading lies", and various colourful words) for saying pretty much exactly what I said above. I'm sorry, but it was a 'minor violation' that cost a friend of mine her life back in February. I have to walk by that intersection every morning. Accidents happen, but I'm not going to coddle my bias for making what could have been a very dangerous mistake. I would say the exact same comment to anyone else.

I'm not surprised you got attacked by some fans for saying that. Once upon a time I twitted a reaction to the paparazzi video of BTS (the one from the US 2 years ago where they were surprised they were being filmed) and was surprised so many people replied to say that I should delete my tweet and don't react to it because the members might see it and they might be offended. Like..whut?

Everything related to Jungkook and Jimin is always blown out of proportion. They see something about Jungkook on his way to the airport, he'd be trending for hours (wearing a modern hanbok, new tattoos, longer hair than the usual, etc). They have the most fans and that comes with a lot of antis as well.

ngl, my heart stopped for a second when the first headline I saw on twitter after waking up was "Jungkook car accident summary" with no context or further information. I'm glad no one was severely hurt and things got settled with, as far as we know, diplomacy and respect. Let's hope this accident will help him become a safer driver.

Twitter was such a mess about this though. Between the stupid brainwashed fans who're trying to pretend it didn't happen/JK is a victim and the people spreading rumors of a DUI and/or asking for him to be jailed, I've asked my self all day why I'm still browsing that app.

I am glad everyone is okay, and yes traffic violations can be very serious. Not sure exactly what Traffic Violation he violated, I am glad that he took responsibility and said he did something wrong, and it looks like he handled the situation properly. I admit I drive over the speed limit and a few months ago I made a right hand turn on Red because I hadn't seen the sign that said No Turn on Red. I know it is wrong but I believe anyone that drives has made a mistake at least once in their lifetime, and most people learn from it. Like the stop sign that I swore I stopped at and the policeman said I didn't I now make sure I am completely stopped and count to 4 before I drive.

I got so worried when I saw 'Jungkook' and 'car accident' in the same sentence. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt and Jungkook wasn't DUI.

Also, I'm annoyed with those who were blowing this extremely out of proportion and with those who were acting like Jungkook is a poor baby that needs protection. He's an adult who caused a car accident, small but still an accident, and followed the normal procedure every single person follows when they have a car accident.
