a lot of people are sick of old town road, others have cancelled lil nas x over some islamophobic comments he made in the past
the latter were really bad and i understand why anyone (particularly muslims) would not want to support him after that, but at the same time... i've heard he did apologize and take back the statements. so, the twitter brigade actively tearing down a young gay black man who's beating out a lot of mediocre white artists also seems... not great.

basically, he tweeted several times saying that islam was a violent religion, on an old nicki minaj fan account (some claim this wasn't actually him but the evidence seems strong)
it seems that he never actually addressed this directly but after becoming famous, he later tweeted that he regretted how he used to "spread hate"
overall he seemed to take the accusations very lightly :/
