Virgil Abloh knows how to shake up the runway status quo. At his debut menswear show for Louis Vuitton last year, Abloh put his designs on the backs of men like musician Steve Lacy, multi-hyphenate artist Blondey McCoy, and pro-skater Lucien Clarke, hammering home his global fashion message through a cast that aptly represented his ethos. At his Spring 2020 show today, Abloh and casting director Piergiorgio del Moro built on that framework with a lineup of models and celebrities from across the globe. There was English singer Dev Hynes, Italian model of the moment Malick Bodian, but it was South Korean rapper and producer Song Mino (better known as simply Mino) who sent social media into a frenzy.

As a member of the Korean boy band Winner, Mino is well known for his fashion prowess—head to his Instagram feed if you want a crash course in exuberant menswear—but his Paris runway debut came as a welcome surprise. Clad in the collection’s pastels, he fit right in with the models, adding a touch of cool as he walked through the Place Dauphine. Whether Mino will become a regular on Abloh’s runway remains to be seen, but he’s already upped the ante for the season’s castings.

I like that touch of pink, and it's better than he usually dresses (imho.) I was not impressed with his prop basket on Blankets. (I'm not hating, I find him a bit charming, but kind of in a dumb way).

Is that his natural skin and I'm so used to whitewashing, or do we think they put some bronzer on him to sculpt his face?

He's naturally tan/dark for an idol.

Considering who Virgil hangs out with might not be the best thing for Mino to be associated with...having to deal with one company that covers for rapists should already be enough for him.

On the one hand, my gut reaction to this is: I hate nepotism models and celebrity-turned-models. Last time when Jessica did the catwalk for another brand my eyes nearly rolled to the back of my head because her height alone would have had her disqualified, had she been anyone else.

But at the same time, if we're encouraging diversity in modelling, then none of what I mentioned above should really matter, especially the guidelines and rules of what models should look like, what their height should be etc. Which makes my above reaction pretty unjustified, so there's that.
