Besides performing on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, BTS did a Beatles-inspired skit for the opening of the show and a short interview. Later, they performed "Boy With Luv", once again inspired by the iconic Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan's Show.

A lot more spread in answering the interviews questions this time! Taehyung was very cute, he and J-Hope spoke English so well, and Jin telling Stephen to dye his hair pink and :) Smile :) made the interview segment lol (and J-Hope squirming at his answer dude pls you think you're any less embarrassing). I wish it was longer :(.

I am not into the Beatles, so I was rather indifferent to the setup, but I appreciate the parallels they're trying to show between then and now.

i dvr'd this to watch tonight. i showed my mom the intro video, cause she watched the beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show 50+ years ago, and she said they did a similar thing with The Beatles as they did with BTS and she got a kick out of it. it was so cute.

hmmm idk how i feel about this beatles throwback. interesting comparison but not the same.

when one direction was first hitting the scene (and i was a fan oop) my mom said the hype reminded her of the beatles and i had to be like sis... not at all comparable lmao. i think people aren't used to the big hype that artists can get now with the spread of media via the internet so they always compare the boyband hype to the beatles. like i hate to be that beatles stan but... they wrote their music. they played instruments. they experimented with different sounds. not at all comparable to lazy ass 1D. more comparable to BTS ig but a fraction of that. BTS give it in the performances in a different way, but imo it's not quite the same as leaving an impact on music from 100% them writing and playing instruments.

my mom was a beatles stan growing up so that did influence me, being one of the first artists i heard early on. but as someone who's very into music and the technical side i just understood the impact without anyone telling me idk.

when the beatles first came out they absolutely were a boyband, their music was very poppy and fun. Their experimentation didn't happen until later tbh.

It's really annoying when people try to erase their boyband beginnings, imo it's because music that girls like is treated like a joke so people who think the Beatles are the greatest ever want to forget that their rise was absolutely fueled by rabid fangirls.

I smiled so hard when I was watching it last night. Super fun laid back interview that let their charming personalities shine. The BWL performance in B&W was hitting my esthetic vibes hard.

The Beatles comparisons? Ehhh I follow a pretty diverse section of Army on twitter and most weren’t taking the comparison seriously. This wasn’t a comparison that was even started by fans it was completely 100% led by the media. Some are so young they don’t even have a concept of the kind of fame the Beatles had some are fans who look at the Beatles as culture vultures that appropriated black originated rock n roll rhythm & blues. Like wow I was surprised. So yeah there is more ambivalence about this narrative.

It was well worth staying up late for even though I was running on 4 hours of sleep and a day long meeting. I was not expecting so much content tbh. I was just looking for to a performance only. The black and white of the skit and performance was something I never knew I needed in my life. They looked great and came across great.

Everything about this makes me super happy and proud. This is probably their best performance of BWL so far, with their best outfits. The B&W was a really nice touch.

Maybe because I'm a fan I watched their interview segment in a cute way, but tbh I'd be embarrassed if I were to watch it on TV with someone else, for example my mom. Idk why everytime they had to introduce themselves they're always looking super lost lol, i know they have to look for the camera but did they really have to make it that awkward?? XD

Also Jungkook is always perfect etc etc but Taehyung :( love him. I really like his short hair nowadays, and that glasses?? wake me up from my grave! I feel like he went on strict diet, feeling like he's getting smaller...idk.

Jin though LOL he perfectly described how being an idol is. Colored hair, also smile everyday (everytime). I feel like there's some shade in his words, but i may be thinking too much. Anyway that's cute.

Looooove how many members got their english-speaking spotlight!! Hopefully we'll get some more. I want to see them doing games tho :(

Colbert's usual banter style of interview is completely destroyed when there is a language banter, lol. Felt like the usual boring interview from wherever, like asking 'where do you see yourself in 10 years'. :x

The responses were gold. I kinda get concerned with the narrative that the interviews are boring or cringe because they can’t speak English. I think their rapport with him was genuine & fun. At times he looked captivated by them. It was charming which is really the only thing you can expect from these types of interviews. People who don’t speak the same language trying to communicate should be normalized it shouldn’t be seen as weird or a chore. Could they have done something different sure & I hope they get the chance too

Late reply but I totally agree! I mean Colbert is interested in Korean music so I was unsurprised by his reactions haha. But it was nice to see them so chatty and have the audience be respectful and they got to show their personalities a bit. We should all learn to communicate better regardless of language!

Okay I was an infant when the Beatles hit in 1964 but I think the comparisons are coming from having so many fans, and now with the Billboard that the Beatles had 3 albums at number 1 in one year and BTS is the only other group to accomplish that is another comparison. I enjoyed the interview was smiling from ear to ear with them singing Hey Jude, and Laughing about the pink hair and smile, and where they are in 10 years. The performance was so good and I loved that they did it in black and white so different then all of their other performances!
