BTS wins Daesang at The Fact Music Awards and performs IDOL

BTS took home the Daesang (grand prize) awarded by The Fact Music Awards!

On April 24, the first offline ceremony of The Fact Music Awards was held by FANNSTAR, which was previously an online ceremony based on fan votes. The event took place at Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon.

BTS won the Daesang for the night as well as three more awards: the Best Album award for “Love Yourself: Answer,” the Idol Live Popularity award, and one of several Artist of the Year awards.

When accepting the Daesang, each of the members took a turn to speak.

RM began by saying “Thank you, ARMY!” He went on to express his gratitude to their fans for making it so that they could walk the red carpet on a warm spring day and receive a great award. “I feel grateful every day,” he said. “Whenever I get up in the morning, I think about how it’s possible that we might not have been here together like this, and that it’s possible that our album ‘Persona’ that we’re promoting now might not have come out. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell my fellow members that I’m so grateful.”

He continued, “We’re busy lately so I haven’t been able to say it, but we’ve been through a lot and experienced a lot, and there are things that have just become expected and things we’ve become used to. However, when we first came together as BTS, it was because we liked music and performing so much. I want to tell us not to forget the expressions on our faces when we first met. Thank you for doing this with me and although I don’t know how far we’ll go, let’s work hard.” He also once again expressed love and gratitude to their fans.

Jungkook then stepped up to the microphone and said, “I want to first thank all of you for this Daesang. I said this at the press conference too, but although as time goes on you may be curious about us, we are more curious about you and want to know more about you as well.” He shared that that is the story of their latest mini album “Map of the Soul: Persona,” and he described it as an album that contains what they want to say to their fans. “I’ll keep trying to be a singer that gives you even a bit of strength,” he added.

Jin then said, “To us, ARMY is a beam of light. We’ll try hard so that we also can be light for you. Thank you.” J-Hope joked that since the ceremony is The Fact Music Awards, he’d say only facts. “This moment was made by all of you,” he said to fans. “We’re here because of all of you. Thank you so much, I love you.”

V added “ARMY, please just look at good things, wear pretty things, and eat delicious things. Thank you so much for the award. I love you.” Suga commented on how he was feeling touched as he watched the clips of BTS’s history played on the screen behind them, and he said, “Thank you for this great award.”

Lastly, Jimin said, “Last year you supported us so much so we wanted to gift you with a good album. Are you enjoying it? We’re planning to fly even higher and farther with the song ‘Boy With Luv,’ however I think that I want to go however far together with all of you. Thank you for always being by our side. I love you. Thank you!”

MC Jun Hyun Moo asked what BTS’s next plans are, and RM said they had to go to a clothes fitting for a concert. Jun Hyun Moo seemed to have been hoping for another answer, and RM then laughed as he said, “Oh yes, we have the Billboard Music Awards.” Jun Hyun Moo shared his hopes that BTS will win an award at that ceremony as well.

Congratulations boys!! They've now won a total of 24 daesang awards, according to my sources - tho some of them hold more value than others... For example, I had no idea what these specific awards are but a lot of people attended so, mustn't be the worse? (find more about it here). In other (self-indulgent) random news, Jungkook picked up boxing. Does he ever sleep?

Taehyung with black hair is amazing, he looks so mature (also he knows his angle very well) and I grow even more interested with how Suga looks lately, I think it's the hair color. Suits him a lot!

About Jungkook's boxing... previously RM said that Jungkook quits within a month LOL and I kinda thought he's really quick to get bored eh? But it seems like he's doing it on and off whenever he has time, which is adorable and exhausting to look at. But clearly his real passion is outside music lol

I feel like there's been a proliferation of Daesangs recently and a lot of awards shows I think label their top prizes as Daesangs to get the top acts to come out lol but OTOH I'm happy for BTS because I'm a stupid stan and it allows them to catch up and soon hold the record for most Daesangs which just further cement their record breaking legacy as if they need any help with that lol

Ngl, when I read the basic description of this award ceremony, it definitely looked like a subpar award ceremony someone bored from koreaboo pulled out of their ass to feed thirsty fans. So I was more than a little surprised so many big acts showed up. It's basic logic that no attendance means no relevance. Makes you wonder what kind of pull they have on entertainment company to make them send all their artists?

Edit: I also feel for idols having to sit through like 15-20 awards shows a year it seems. Must not be the most productive use of their time, I swear. Especially for shows not on broadcast TV.

It can be both! Whee! BTS is a single group so the verb can also be singular, but they are also a group of 7 specific people, so a plural verb can be used as well. I think it's mostly based on your personal preferences and which aspect you want to emphasize.
