On April 12 at 6 p.m. KST, BTS released their new mini album “Map of the Soul: Persona.” By 9 p.m. that evening, it had already recorded 1.38 million sales on Hanteo chart.
The number continued to rise, and the mini album went on to surpass 1,479,930 sales on Hanteo in its first day of sales.
Last year, BTS’s “Love Yourself: Tear” sold 1,003,527 units on Hanteo in its first week, which was the highest number of albums recorded on Hanteo in the first week of release ever since the chart’s creation in 1993. “Map of the Soul: Persona” has now come along and broken BTS’s first week sales record in just an evening!
“Map of the Soul: Persona” includes the title track “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey, and it has been breaking records on YouTube and topping charts both in Korea and internationally.
BTS becomes the first Asian artist to surpass 5 billion streams on Spotify
BTS has set a new record on Spotify!
The group has now not only the first Korean group, but also the first artist in Asia to surpass 5 billion streams on the platform.
BTS has 10 million followers on Spotify, and their song “Fake Love” (which was the most streamed Korean song in 2018 on Spotify) has reached over 219 million streams.
The group made a comeback on April 12 with their new mini album “Map of the Soul: Persona,” which features the title track “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey.
BTS dominates iTunes charts all over the world with Map of the Soul: Persona
On April 12 at 6 p.m. KST, BTS dropped their new mini album “Map of the Soul: Persona,” as well as the music video for its accompanying title track “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey. Within hours of its release, the mini album soared to the top of iTunes charts in numerous countries all over the world.
As of 7:44 a.m. KST on April 13, “Map of the Soul: Persona” had already topped iTunes Top Albums charts in at least 84 different regions, including the United States, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, the Philippines, Vietnam, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
In addition to sweeping all of Korea’s major realtime music charts, BTS’s new title track “Boy With Luv” also hit No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 61 different regions, including the United States, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Finland, France, Greece, Indonesia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Slovenia, Russia, Turkey, Thailand, and Vietnam.

She's willing to take a listen because *quoted* "it's only 7 songs, glad it's not 20" and her comment is basically that BTS sounds so western, it's not surprising that they can easily gain new fans. If their songs are still hard Kpop, normal people wouldn't really stream it.
