Jimin donates to students in his hometown in Busan

BTS’s Jimin gave back to his hometown of Busan!

On April 5, it was belatedly reported that Jimin donated 100 million won (approximately $87,914) to the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education to be used towards education development.

The Office of Education divided and distributed Jimin’s donation to each school. The donation will be used towards student welfare including lunch money for students from low-income families and other necessary items. Jimin’s alma mater, Busan High School of Arts, received 30 million won (approximately $26,374).

BTS has constantly given back to the community including individual donations for the members’ birthdays. J-Hope donated 100 million won (approximately $87,915) to his alma mater, Kukje High School in Gwangju, while Suga donated 100 million won to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation for children diagnosed with cancer and leukemia.

BTS’s fandom ARMY have also followed in their artist’s philanthropic footsteps. Fans have donated a total of 30 million won (approximately $26,373) to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association in the name of BTS to help the victims of the Gangwon Province wildfire.

The Met Gala is one of New York’s most exclusive, elusive events, and though the guest list is held under lock and key, BTS fans are theorizing the K-Pop group may be in attendance. Not only have members of the BTS army worked out a possible BTS sighting on the Met steps, but they’ve also explained it’s possible the group will perform at the gala.

While BTS’s appearance or invite is unconfirmed, there are a handful of reasons why fans have come to think they may be attending. The first comes with two U.S. tour dates scheduled ahead of the gala. The Met Gala is held on the first Monday in May every year. This year, it will be May 6. BTS is scheduled to perform two concerts in Los Angeles on May 4 and 5, meaning they’ll be free and in the United States on May 6. Though it’s a plane ride away, celebrities have flown longer distances in a day to attend coveted events. Their next scheduled event will be a tour stop in Chicago on May 11, as confirmed by their website’s diary schedule.

Another hint to fans of the group, which they revealed on Twitter, is the group’s relationship to Baz Luhrmann. Luhrmann was the head of planning of the 2018 gala’s musical performances. The coveted creative, best known for his writing, production and directing, teased a collaboration with BTS on Twitter in October. A Reddit thread spearheaded by BTS fans breaks down the possibility of the collaboration ending with a Met Gala show. An alternate theory claims the band may be branding with Chanel, as they’ve been sporting the classic designer frequently and Luhrmann has his own ties to the fashion house.

The last clue cites a different fashion house: Gucci. Gucci has its own hand in the 2019 Met Gala as this year’s sponsor, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, spoke highly of this year’s theme, inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay Notes on "Camp.” Fans have seen BTS relate closely to Gucci recently, from the group wearing the brand to Gucci’s “persona” themed fashion show in 2019. “Persona” is the theme of BTS’s upcoming album, Map Of The Soul: Persona, as well as a track title on the album.

that being said — i hope they go to the met gala lol i really do. though i was thinking that Dior was gonna dress them, they met the creative director (whose name escapes me rn) before the Grammy’s. everyone thought that it was because they were gonna wear his suits on the event but they didn’t so! our next best best is: met gala!!!!!!

Yes! Its always great to hear celebs giving back to the schools they went to. It seems more personal and like they recognize their roots and what made them who they are today.

On other note, please let them attend the met gala and show all the boring men there how it’s done. And please no bland standard tuxedos like the grammys and for god’s sake no boring chanel. Since the theme is “camp” i need them to be extra. Something like their love yourself answer concept photos could be good

first time i heard about the met gala rumor was after the grammy's! bts met dior's creative director the day before (the grammy's) and everyone thought it was because they were gonna wear his suits for the event but -- they didn't. so army's next best bet was the met gala!

Besides multi-colored hair, I just don't see how they'd stand out or even interpret the concept of camp. Styling-wise, they are so constrained. I've liked some past concept photos but there haven't been any that's been eye-popping. Answer has had the most interesting concept photos of late although I still like Wings styling the best. The possibility of them attending the Gala in some ways is more appealing the comeback itself because I honestly don't know what to expect.

Ok I'm going to confess, Jimin was my least favourite in the beginning. Something was off imo, I don't know why. I found him a tad dramatic, a bit too intense even if he clearly had such a good personnality. Or maybe, he's too much like me and I was being >> at my own terrible sides because I can see them clearly in him too :scream:

Anyway, I saw the light now. I love him to bits :3. I'm not surprised about him being that generous and good, I'm proud of him. Role-model to the core.
