Seungri and Yoo In Suk booked for embezzling Monkey Museum funds

Seungri and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk have been booked on an additional charge.

On April 1, Commissioner Won Kyung Hwan of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency held a press conference regarding recent developments.

While investigating the club Monkey Museum, Seungri and Yoo In Suk were found to have embezzled funds of their club Monkey Museum. The two have been booked on the charge of occupational embezzlement.

Won Kyung Hwan explained that the embezzled funds are tens of millions of won (tens of thousands of dollars). The police are currently investigating the specific amount of funds and how they were used.

Monkey Museum is a club that Seungri and Yoo In Suk started in July 2016, and it is being investigated for suspicions of using connections with the police officer Senior Superintendent Yoon.

Choi Jong Hoon booked for sexual assault due to filming sex video without consent

Former FTISLAND member Choi Jong Hoon has been revealed to have filmed a sex video himself illegally which he then shared through chatrooms.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Provincial Special Detective Division held a press conference on the morning of April 1 and stated that Choi Jong Hoon has been booked for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.

Choi Jong Hoon is suspected of filming one sex video without consent and sharing six illegal videos (five of which were shared with him and the one being the video he filmed himself).

The police booked Choi Jong Hoon on charges of sharing pornography violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc., but added on the charge of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes while investigating and discovering that Choi Jong Hoon had filmed an illegal video himself.

Choi Jong Hoon shared illegal videos in other chatrooms besides the chatroom with Seungri and Jung Joon Young. He has also been booked for trying to bribe the police and for sharing illegally taken photos and videos.

Police acquire testimony about allegations of Seungri's prostitution mediation

On April 1, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency revealed that the police acquired a testimony which stated that there was an instance when Seungri mediated prostitution.

A source with a high rank in the force said, “We have partially confirmed allegations of [Seungri’s] prostitution mediation. Following [the confirmation], we investigated several people in relation to the allegations for two weeks, and four to five of them were women. We also received a testimony about [Seungri] providing prostitution services.”

However, the police are still checking to confirm if Seungri mediated prostitution in exchange for investment, the location where prostitution took place, and whether or not Seungri gave the order.

The police have also completed comparing and analyzing the messages from the group chatroom known as “Seungri’s group chatroom” and the documents they received from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission so that they can check the authenticity of the messages.

The allegations of prostitution mediation against Seungri were first made due to an exclusive report by SBS funE on February 26, during which the news outlet revealed text messages containing evidence of Seungri ordering Club Arena employees to find prostitutes for a foreign investor in December 2015.

Senior police officer booked on additional charge of receiving bribes from Seungri

On April 1, it was revealed that Seungri gifted three BIGBANG concert tickets to Senior Superintendent Yoon.

The officer was previously booked for leaking official confidential information, and he has now been booked for violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act as well.

The Improper Solicitation and Graft Act (also referred to as the Kim Young Ran Act) is an anti-corruption law that prohibits individuals from giving and receiving bribes.

Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Provincial Special Detective Division confirmed that Senior Superintendent Yoon did not pay for a part of his portion of the expenses from a meal and golf game with Seungri and Yoo In Suk (former CEO of Yuri Holdings). While receiving police questioning, Seungri admitted to gifting the officer with tickets.

The police added that they have not yet booked Senior Superintendent Yoon’s wife Chief Superintendent Kim, who also received the tickets. A source from the police said, “To book her on charges of violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, we must figure out the amount [that was exchanged], and further investigation is needed.”

Meanwhile, on the same day, Seungri and Yoo In Suk were booked for embezzling funds of their club Monkey Museum.

Police make 13 arrests and book 103 people in relation to Burning Sun Gate

On April 1, Commissioner Won Kyung Hwan of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency held a press conference regarding the ongoing controversies in relation to the club Burning Sun, and revealed that the police have booked a total of 103 people and imprisoned 13 people.

The Commissioner further revealed that they booked 53 people for drug-related charges at Burning Sun and other clubs, seven of whom were imprisoned. 15 people were booked and four people were arrested for using and/or distributing drugs at Burning Sun, and 29 people were booked and two people were arrested for doing the same at other clubs. Nine people were booked and one person was arrested for distributing the date rape drug Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB).

On the other hand, an arrest warrant was rejected for Lee Moon Ho, the Burning Sun CEO who tested positive for drugs. Seungri, who was revealed to be one of the three initial investors of Burning Sun and also worked as an executive director, is still being investigated.

Seungri is strongly denying most allegations facing him including the allegations of providing prostitution services for foreign investors, bribing police officers to cover up criminal activities, tax evasion and embezzlement with club Monkey Museum, habitually gambling abroad, drug usage, spreading illegally taken photos, and more.

The latest charge made against Seungri was for violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, an anti-corruption law that prohibits individuals from giving and receiving bribes, by gifting Senior Superintendent Yoon three BIGBANG concert tickets.

Regarding this, Commissioner Won Kyung Hwan said, “We are tracing back bank accounts and financial records of Senior Superintendent Yoon and other allegedly corrupt police officers, conducting a search and seizure of golf clubs and offices, and reviewing call records to investigate employees who have at least once exchanged a phone call or met [with Seungri].”

He concluded, “We have acknowledged the public’s criticism that we have been making slow progress with the investigation to uncover corruption within the police. Even if it takes time, we will continue to give regular reports on the investigation progress to show that we are carrying out a fair and transparent investigation.”

So, in the US, we have a lot of prison systems/jails/etc. I think we are like #1 in the world in incarcerations or something. (not something proud to be #1 in...but that's a different subject).

Sorry if this comes off as dumb, but does Korea have prisons and are they as...widely used...as in the US? For example, in the last story, 103 people were booked but only 13 were imprisoned.

I'm in the US too, so I can't answer these, but Prison Playbook had a couple different prisons in it (it's a drama.)

I've been associating booked with indicted, as in formal charges are filed by the government, versus booked as in, physically detained in jail. I don't know if it's correct, but it seems to comport with a prosecutorial system and the fact that they're not in jail.

Comparison to US is tricky because so much of the system is private sectors. In this regard prisons in America are often treated as a business and require more prisoners to keep running so a lot of the arrests are to meet demand.

Oh yeah. I remember reading about a prison owner complaining that his prison was too empty so he wasn't making money. He was complaining there needs to be more supply of prisoners. Sick.

Any idea if South Korean prisons are private or governmental? Time to do some googling!

my general impression is that prison sentences are way shorter in South Korea. Like murder is only 10 years or something.

Small progress, but progress. Bookings! (I assume booked is used as similar to charged, so it's better than simply suspect.)

thanks OP.

Is it me or is it weird that you would share a video with your friends of you having sex? Like wtf, i wouldn’t wanna see someone i know doing it.

Other than that, I’m glad there is still progress with all this. The longer that this is out there and more charges to their grossness is exposed the better

EXACTLY. I don't understand why you would want someone to see you. Maybe it's my anxiety but I would think people would start judging my techniques and such. I don't even talk to my closest friends about those personal details. Keep it to yourself.

Then again, I have been proven time and time again here that I don't understand these creep's mindset. I guess that's a good thing?
