BTS’s first-ever film “Burn the Stage: The Movie” has set a new record at the U.S. box office!

According to a report by Forbes, BTS’s new documentary film is now the highest-grossing event cinema musical production of all time. “Burn the Stage: The Movie” earned an impressive $1.2 million at the U.S. box office on just the first day of its release (Thursday, November 15), and it went on to rake in an additional $2.3 million over the three-day weekend.

In just four days, the movie managed to earn a staggering $3.54 million in the United States alone, officially breaking One Direction’s 2014 record for highest-grossing concert film.

“Burn the Stage: The Movie” also racked up $9.3 million in ticket sales outside of the United States.

The movie’s extraordinary success is especially remarkable considering that part of its footage has already aired through BTS’s original YouTube Red series “Burn the Stage,” which was released earlier this year.

Consisting of both new and re-edited footage from the original documentary, “Burn the Stage: The Movie” follows BTS during their 2017 “WINGS” world tour and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the group’s concerts and travels.

Watching this after watching the disaster of a film by the name of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was the best decision I made this weekend ngl.

SPOILERS

it's really sweet, I liked that it was more light-hearted than the Youtube series. Unfortunately the girls in front of me were super annoying and I missed a lot of stuff cause they were whooo-ing and talking all the way through the film.

YoonJin were the MVPs, they're just hilarious. Yoongi with his wine at the pool scene had me in stitches.

it's interesting if you compare it with the YT show. Tae is so camera shy throughout the whole thing. That little VMin moment was so sweet, but at the same time almost creepily filmed, like they thought he'd run off if he saw them filming?

Yeontan got the most cheers at my theatre lol.

Would this be fun to watch even for someone who's not a fan? I know nothing about BTS, but I'm curious.

It's a good entry level documentary. People have even been bringing relatives who don't know anything about the group and they've enjoyed it.

I brought my friend who was introduced to BTS and fandom at the Citifield concert. She was entertained, particularly by Yoongi.

Lmao who exactly is everyone
Ppl who hate bts will just bring up the issues everytime someone mentions they love them and fans will just keep on stanning them, like literally what happens with every other celebrities who have big fanbases. Not sure what you expected

Literally no one said anything about hating BTS... You're being way too defensive about nothing. It's not like I was even responding to someone who loves BTS and giving them shit about it. I made a general comment about a mistake that they didn't own up to. You're right, doesn't make them any different from any of the other dumb boy bands that make mistakes and also don't own up to it.

🙄

Maybe I was responding to the actual post headline and article? About them breaking a box office record that many people (more than 4) paid to see? I didn't read the comments before posting my own and I don't care if people here like them or hate them.

Why do I need to defend myself? I literally just commented on the fact that they weren't held accountable for their actions. I think they're just as charming as the rest of you but Jesus Christ god forbid these grown adults get criticized for something they did wrong. Just as much as other groups here get criticized.

V good to know that I should stay away from bts posts going forward.

Don't try to argue with their fans. Their fandom is a lost cause. However, I appreciate that there are still people like you who are critical and not delusional. At least you can still call them out at ONTD without fans jumping down your throat.

I went to the theater alone for the first time ever to see this and lord, kpop stans. It was my first time going to a place with so many of them.
The girl next to me apparently stanned every bg in existence and shsjdjsj she like added korean words in her sentences lmaoo like when yeontan appeared she said 'cute' in Korean then whispered to her friend what it meant. Also fanchant omg.

I loved the movie, especially the silly moments, i love seeing non-aloof yoongi. The champagne scene was cute.

I didn’t watch this because the ticket is too expensive, also I’m not looking to be around too many kpop fans bec the way I read reports they’re embarrassing as hell lol.
Question though, will something like this usually be released in other format? Like a dvd or something else?

I'm not sure, but knowing them I think they will release this in a dvd with extra footage and other stuff, it would make sense

I felt so out of place at first because I was surrounded by a bunch of excited teenagers talking and singing the fanchants all the time! But surprisingly everyone went quiet when the film started so the initial embarrassment was worth it. The film was so entertaining to watch, and it was great to be in a room full of people laughing at the same things that nobody around me would find it funny lol

Everything coming out about this reminds me of how fans behaved during the 1D movie, hoping to watch it next week when the hype dies down

That said congrats to them for this achievement. They are clearly a phenomenon now.

Wow that’s impressive. I’m happy for them. $15 was kinda steep but I’m glad I went. It was enjoyable and the crowd wasn’t crazy. Yoongi by the pool sipping on wine watching the the rest jump had everyone laughing. Wished that part could’ve been extended more. I’m anticipating another movie for 2018 what with citified, dome tour, and Europe.

I didn’t partake in my cinema’s activity of taking pictures/selfies of/with standees (because I’m not a fucking moron), but the movie was enjoyable. Yoongi, Jin and Yeontan were the best parts for me, hilarious + adorable for Yeontan. I do think that they could have used less concert footage tho, and focused more on the behind-the-scenes, but that’s just me.

Not planning on seeing it in person because I'd rather not be in a movie theatre with overzealous fans, but maybe i'll watch it if it goes on netflix.

Question for anyone who watched it, are there any scenes that actually show some real hardship? Like fights or disagreements or injuries? Funny bts is great and all but I was hoping that it would be more of a 'real' perspective (as real as kpop can get)

The film felt melancholy? There is a narrator and it’s rather poetic using the alagory of the desert and the sea from the song “Sea” There are lots of gorgeous lush orchestrations of some of their songs we will never get to purchase. They show injuries but just to show how commonplace they are and how they just move through them. No fights in this one. There is a bit of an interview at the end with each of them individually. Yoongi says yes he feels like just having it all end already but that he doesn’t really want that because he knows at some point they won’t have a choice and they won’t get to do “this” anymore. Tae says they will enter the 6th year of being a group and that others have said this is when people start to burn out or get lots of injuries. Joon says he still questions why this happened to them, he doesn’t deserve it, thinks that it’s right that he keeps questioning it. There are funny moments but overall I came away with a feeling of melancholy the Transient nature of fame. Yoongi narrates a bit at the end saying all of their names and how their real names are almost unfamiliar to them.

Sorry for the word vomit.

Thank you for the response!!! :) I'm intrigued that the movie seems to show a less glitzy view of their perspective on their meteoric rise to fame.

Fame being transient is absolutely a true thing. With how fast kpop moves, you never really know how long a group will actually be in the spotlight for. Thank you again :)

I watched it on thursday with my friend, but we are living in seoul so no subtitles (not even in korean ) so i feel like even though i understood some of it, it was just okay. and it felt just like a regular movie experience, there were no fan chants lol and everyone was quiet before it even started. except when yeontan appeared where the whole theater went "awww"

That's quite an achievement. However, I personally found it kinda dull, esp. the narration. I was so looking forward to seeing more about the V/Jin argument, but there was nothing (of course)
