So it begins: MAMA2018 kicks off campaign with #LikeMAMA starting with BTS

On October 23, the awards show released two clips of BTS’ Suga and V talking about “challenges.” They talked about their first thoughts towards “challenges,” their feelings on exceeding their own goals, and what challenges they’re willing to take on in the future.

In Suga’s video, he stated, “When something unbelievable comes true, I’m happy, but my feelings of fear are greater than my feelings of pleasure.” He continued, “Carrying a sense of duty, I want to try everything I can, like the ‘Billboard Hot 100′ and the Grammys.” He concluded, “MAMA is amazing. It’s a challenge.”

For V’s interview, he recalled when he was able to first stand on a MAMA stage. He stated, “I think I remember feeling very pressured and nervous.” Talking about the biggest challenges in his life, V remarked, “Even if it’s the same song, making our performances different, new, or more fun is the greatest challenge. It’s an assignment I need to do.”

In addition to Suga and V, RM and Jungkook’s videos will be released on October 24, while Jin, J-Hope, and Jimin’s special clips will be uploaded on October 25.

MAMA will begin releasing videos of other artists who have shared special moments in the K-pop world with the awards show as well. Along with the keyword “challenge,” “passion” and “dream” will also be used as the theme for these artists’ interviews.

MAMA will also be holding a “#LikeMAMA” hashtag event for global fans who have supported MAMA during its 10-year run, where they will be able to attend the 2018 MAMA as one of the audience members. Each week, MAMA will choose one fan who pens a handwritten letter about their challenges and dreams and uploads it using the hashtag “#LikeMAMA.” From the six fans, one “MAMA Challenger” will be decided through votes and sponsored with a ticket and expenses for the 2018 MAMA.

The 2018 MAMA will kick off in Korea on December 10 and then continue to Japan at Saitama Super Arena on December 12. The finale on December 14 will once again be held in Hong Kong at AsiaWorld-Expo Arena. The awards show previously shared more details about the concept for this year’s ceremonies.

Voting for 2018 MAMA will begin on November 1 at 6 p.m. KST and close on December 9 at midnight.

Tae seems to be innocent and genuine and kind and all, which of course we all appreciate (though I think I read somewhere that he'd once made a sexist comment or something?), but, yeah, well, comparing V's intelligence to YG's intelligence is like comparing eggs to Nutella.
Maybe he saw those (dreadful) bearded Bangtan edits. Good thing bearded YG will never happen (he said he had his facial hair permanently removed. Unless he meant forehead hair or something)

I really wish they could just directly address those comments already. They can't just keep ignoring them forever, trying to come out as 'woke' without saying they've truly changed in this aspect

Now as for the intelligence issue, well, there's def. a huge difference e.g. between RM's and YG's replies in interviews and press conferences and say V's, J-Hope's and Jk's, who of course are extremely charismatic in other aspects. I personally still don't get why V's considered the most handsome man alive, but his stage presence is truly amazing

i'm jungkook bias but I always find Taehyung's face is really handsome in most photos, but looks just casual in motion. There are people that I like when they're in a movie but when I tried to show the pictures to my friends I cant seem to find certain photo that represents the handsome LOL but with Tae, it seems easy to just pick any photo. Heck, I even bought Taehyung's photo blanket instead of Jungkook lol

idek if my 'bias' is even jungkook lol, I just happened to pay more attention to him ((because he's cute and hot at the same time hnng)), tbh I scream at least at 5/7 bangtans whenever I saw a photo/video that looks adorably cute/cool/hot/sexy etc.
Yeah I love his passion at literally everything, he doesn't like wasting time for something not important, I wish I was like that when I was 21 :/ so that I wont become a useless adult lol

haha Jungkook was one of the last members I warmed up to, even though he grew up very handsomely. idk he's funny and talented but also comes across kinda basic to me lol, at least sometimes (I love him tho). He's also rivalling Tae in terms of sucking at logic/general knowledge/strategy games, or actually even worse cause Tae's got a devious streak. Maybe I just go for the complicated types lol, I also really like Yoongi after all.

idk I often find Kookie the most handsome in their pics, the boy really knows his angles. But when Tae gets a good pic he blows everyone else out of the water IMO, there's something really captivating about his face. I've also seen them in real life and thought he was the most handsome there, though I know they wear a ton of makeup at their concerts so idk how representative that is.

Kook's adoration of RM is the most adorable thing ever, I agree.

yk, one of the first BTS songs I ever heard was Airplane pt 2, which I absolutely hate, but the opening part, Jungkook's part, is so hot. He's also so damn good singing the angsty parts like in Save me. But, yeah, i see what you're saying about basic. Poor kid's though, his life has basically been practicing and broadcasting. Hope he won't suffer a mental breakdown when they go their separate ways

yeah he's been in the business since he was such a kid, it's gonna be harsh. Especially since they all coddle him so much, as the beloved baby of the group.
that's why I'm sometimes like :/ on him being so hard-working and perfectionist and always talking about how he'll only focus on getting better and stop playing games/doing nothing, like you're a kid, live a little. When are you gonna waste 20 hours of the day playing videogames if not in your early twenties.

I actually get what or why Tae says things like that. I feel like he wants to challenge what is expected from idols somhow. It's not the beard, it's the fact that idols don't usually have facial har (the only one I remember doing this was that singer from Mblaq). I don't know, I probably read too much into those little details :D He probably just wants to be a hipster but I'm also pretty sure Taehyung is a rebel at heart so it does make sense :D

That was cute. I'm laughing at the fact that BTS is everywhere (litteraly) yet they are suppose to be resting rn si I suppose they filmed all of this during their tour etc. I love those Seoul clips too, very cute.

Aww but for me who's easily get bored if there's nothing happen, I find myself able to be a bts fan for a long time if they keep existing lol. I tend to like a group only when they're actively promoting, then when they disappeared for 6 months or so, I might be gone when they're actually having a comeback :/
I tend to focus only on 1 thing so when I switched attention, I will slowly losing interest to the old ones haha

I don't know but for some reason I think it's going to be hard for YG to resist sending iKon and BP to MAMA this year. Ignoring the comebacks next month, iKon is a lock for SOTY + he favors iKon over Winner. He wouldn't miss an opportunity for iKon to get an award. That being said, YG defies common sense when it comes to promotion, so who knows. BP's attendance may hinge on how MNet decides to split the GG awards.

I forgot about the SME and MNet spat. Still, I can't believe EXO wouldn't attend MAMA. I mean, would SME be that bold to yield a top award for its top BG to other groups/companies?

I thought similarly a few weeks ago that SME wouldn't pass it up for exo but rly with how much fuckery these shows have done to mess with exo's numbers SM might have just finally snapped. MAMA in particular keeps jacking SME tour VCRs for their shows. Delaying the release to after the cut off is the perfect way for sm to justify them all not going.

CBX maybe for the hongkong show or japan show because they'll be nominated and Baekhyun gain for duet but that might be it but they won't be at the Korean show for sure since they booked a gig in thailand for the day before.

Maybe Shinee will go to collect Jonghyun's solo male award, which is rightfully deserves but I can also see SME just saying fuck it.

i'm really hoping that jonghyun can snag the male solo award, but i'm worried that he won't even get a nomination. like you said: he rightfully deserves it and that's why i'm kinda fearful that the majority of these award shows coming up won't have the courage to nominate a posthumous release from an idol. it sucks because it's totally warranted - the album did okay digitally (not the best, but okay) and it's the highest selling physical release from a solo artist this year.

but yeah. i don't trust it. jonghyun already lost out on the award when he was nominated back in 2015, so.

honestly, if he is nominated and ended up (by some miracle) winning i don't know if sm would even send any of the other members considering that it's all the way in hong kong - unless they step up and personally want to go which i could see, even if it's just one. i guess they could also have another sm artist accept that attends (like yeri or maybe taeyeon), but who knows.

the only thing i can predict is the migraine i will have when my social media accounts are flooded with calls to vote (despite me having those words blocked since last year's award season), the rage i will fly into the moment i see some dumbass army shaming people who can't vote with 10,000 fake accounts 24/7, and the bottle of wine i will crack open when bts wins artist of the year. presumably, idk, but i can see this happening.
