BTS' "Fake Love" 3rd Highest Viewed MV in 24h, "LY: Tear" Could Debut at #1 in BB200

BTS’s “Fake Love” MV not only set a record by earning the highest number of views in the first 24 hours among K-pop groups, it also came in No. 3 among all music videos on YouTube!

“Fake Love” was released on May 18 at 6 p.m. KST, and it was viewed an amazing number of times within the first 24 hour after its release. According to Billboard, YouTube has stated that “Fake Love” reached 35.9 million views within just one day. YouTube has also verified that the group’s previous MV for “DNA” hit 22.3 million views in the first 24 hours.

This means that BTS’s “Fake Love” is No. 3 on the list of music videos with the highest 24 hour views. Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” reached 43.2 million views in 2017 within one day, while PSY’s “Gentleman” garnered 36 million views in its first 24 hours back in 2013. “Fake Love” therefore achieved the highest views on an MV within the first 24 hours so far in 2018.

YouTube states that “Fake Love” even reached 4.8 million views within the first hour after its release. “Fake Love” also broke a record for the most likes in a day in YouTube history after it racked up 3.9 million likes on May 18. On the ranking of single-day likes on YouTube, BTS’s “DNA” comes in at No. 2 with 2.3 million likes and their “MIC Drop (Remix)” MV in No. 3 with 2.3 million likes.

Will BTS Debut At No. 1 On Billboard 200? It’s Possible, Say Industry Forecasters

According to Billboard, BTS’s new album “Love Yourself: Tear” has the potential to sell over “100,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 24.”

Currently, for the week of May 19, artists such as Post Malone, J. Cole, Leon Bridges, and Cardi B take up the top four spots on the Billboard 200 chart. American rapper Post Malone has been sitting at the top for three weeks in a row with his second studio album, “Beerbongs & Bentleys,” and could very well continue to keep it for another week.

However, with the performance from BTS at the Billboard Music Awards 2018 (BBMAs) receiving much attention, Billboard suggests that BTS may have a chance at overtaking Post Malone. This is not the first time that BTS has made an entry into the Billboard 200, as their previous album “Love Yourself: Her” made it to No. 7 on the chart.

Singularity, The Truth Untold, 134340, Magic Shop so far. I'm still listening to the album and figuring it out. Fake Love has started to grow on me a lot since release. I don't dislike any song on the album altho So What is whatever for me but it'll sound great live.

On one hand I do think it’s cool when fans try hard to make these records happen cause there are nice intentions there but at the same time I don’t really understand the obsession with it either like it’s just fan generated publicity on platforms that a lot of the general public don’t pay attention to anyway it’s really hard to tell how popular they actually are?

I do really like this album though with the exception of So What and I know people are still complaining there wasn’t enough upbeat songs but there was more than I expected on an album that’s literally called Tear.

I will be ecstatic if they get that #1 spot, especially since I don't give two fucks about post malone, but tbh I'd be fine with any ranking. This album is a masterpiece and nothing could temper my enthusiasm.

I gave it a few days and a lot of listens to be certain but this is definitely my favourite BTS album so far. I love every single track. The whole album is really cohesive. In particular, the entire section between track 3 (The truth untold) and 8 (airplane pt 2) flows very nicely with great transitions. They definitely got their groove back imo.
I reckon that they went with the weakest song for the title track, but I actually really like Fake Love so I don't really mind.

Favourite tracks atm are 134340, Paradise, Magic Shop, Airplane pt 2, the Truth Untold and sue me but I LOVE So What. The live performance will SLAY. I love their EDM tracks in general and I love Namjoon's rap and Jungkook's adlibs at the end.
