CNCO (of "Reggaetón Lento Remix" feat. Little Mix-fame) recently went on iHEARTLATINO, a radio show, where they were asked about BTS who are nominated for the iHeartRadio Awards just like CNCO.

CNCO: "Thank you!"
MC: "Have you seen the koreans? They're like the korean version of CNCO."

Never heard of them before, will definitely not check them out now. Why people always got to insult their competition with racial or cultural things? If you want to put down the people you feel are going to beat you at least do it classy. Asking too much there, I know. All this is going to do is make bts get more votes.

Sadly my personal experience with Latino persons, including many of my family members, is to make fun of any Asian language, imitate them as if they're all the same or pretend its a Chinese take out menu. I get called a fake Latina for liking Kpop.

The thing is... they could have so easily shut down the host's pot-stirring with some basic professionalism. The last thing any pop act should be doing is mocking another pop act's work. Doesn't matter who they are. One non-English language mocking another non-English language specifically about language is beyond foolish.

I had looked up CNCO a while ago with the other 'boy bands' that are coming up in the west/Americas and was kind of shocked at the minimal level of effort that went into their performances. Not really shitting on them here, because they're fine doing their thing.

It was just this really strong reminder of how spoiled I am on Kpop acts. The basic standard of what a group has to serve on stage in Kpop is just dramatically higher.

Kpop has ruined me for appreciating what would otherwise be a completely normal expectation for performers.
