i know that i've skipped a lot (like interviews and articles) but there was just too much out there so i just focused (mostly) on tweets. i'm glad that everything went so well for them, especially because they were so nervous. yesterday also marked the one year anniversary for their first daesang win!

Date: 2017-11-20 07:58 pm (UTC)I know people want to quibble (Kpop Stan’s quibble I know shocking) but they really were great. Camera work, lighting, sound, yes it could have all been better, the song could have been a different one but I still think overall it was great.
I think what really made it a great performance was the energy from the crowd. BTS and the fans were feeding off each others energy and it created a synergistic effect that overcame any of the negatives of the overall performance. They were rooting for BTS to have this moment and that came through the tv and was electric. It was like a happy bomb went off in the auditorium and even the jaded stars were pulled into the effect of it all.
I think Ansel’s GIF really does embody that performance, just pure happiness. There is a lot of crappy things happening all over the world right now so a little blip of happiness like this was nice. No, I don’t think BTS is going to take over the world or become respected musicians with Grammys. They just had a moment and if that’s all it is I think that’s enough.

Tbh I don't mind about the lip syncing, or the camerawork (what's new we get that in korea too,) just seeing them on that stage, and hearing the fanchants on the fancams, its been so awesome. I must be on the positive side of social media cos I haven't encountered any big dramas, just people rly happy and excited.

The only negative point would be that the performance itself wasn't so great (like, the boys did great as usual but the camera work was shit and most of the reaction they filmed from people in the audience looked staged and faked - like people couldn't care less but hey, CAMERA!!!). The fancams were better than the official video. The fanchants were crazy.
As someone else commented, I don't expect much to come out of this in the US (in terms of recognition, music, etc) but it was really good while it lasted!!!

I kicked everyone out of the living room besides my mom because she must suffer the children and hang out with me. When they got to the red carpet I flipped out because Jimin and Tae looked UNREAL. I didn't really watch their interviews because it's too much. I watched their main one with that woman in the red dress.
With the performance I liked the lights but damn the camerawork was on some inkigayo levels. The lights were cool and I think we all were that one fangirl with the glasses. Ya'll know who I'm talking about lol.
The vlive got me. Bangtan relaxed and together is always a great time. I really really think Tae was making good on his promise to gain weight because while he was sitting his thighs were look A+ Yoongi looked angelic and Jin was looking like boyfriend material. I lol'd with Jungkook finally drinking an alcoholic bev. Get that boy some welch's sparkling. Jimin finding out that Khalid was younger AND taller than him was hilarious. He's been really sociable these past few promotions and getting confident to be funny and extra.
Overall it, was hype, I was hype, everyone was hype, and we get closer and closer tome having to fight a kid over getting tickets for their next world tour.

I also loved him gassing himself up and saying he's a good listener because he really is, he doesn't even have to listen to the translations most of the time. his intense listening and interpreting face is so cute.
overall I wasn't super wowed by the performance because it wasn't anything I haven't already seen on a music show (and music shows have better camerawork) but what an exciting day for them, they should be proud.

I'd say I wish all the ~Yoongi is secretly fluent in English~ stans would take note that listening and speaking are two different things, but that joke about the voice over he got in one interview made the whole thing worth it.
And basically all of them jockeying for attention and ribbing each other. RM throwing things and trying to catch them in his mouth, Jungkook not letting Jin be sexy, Jungkook being confused about the drinking age in the US. Minjoon just being all over the place. <3
