Basically, due to SK's installation of the THAAD system, China wants to take Chinese money out of Korean hands by halting Idol promotion activities in China and heavily limiting the ability to perform there.

Very curious how this will affect groups with multiple Chinese members/activities.

Women in 20s-30s heaviest hip-hop consumers

What started out as a subculture street movement in Africa-American communities in New York in the 1970s has now become a mainstream music genre enjoyed by young women of Korea.

In Korea today, hip-hop is taking over mainstream pop charts and, surprisingly, women in their 20s and 30s are the biggest consumers of the genre once considered subversive.

Mini Twice Post: TWICE Sets Records With 100 Days Of Promoting “Cheer Up” and CFs

Since the release of “Cheer Up” 100 days ago, TWICE has set records with their impressive performance on music charts, YouTube, and music shows.

The girl group’s second single performed well on music charts, with 24 weeks days (562 hours)* as number one on Melon as well as 10 weeks in Melon’s TOP5 charts (same as San E and Raina’s “Midsummer Night Sweetness” in 2010). They were also number one on Gaon’s Top5 for eight weeks. On YouTube, they set records for breaking the 67 million mark in 100 days, which was the same view count as BIGBANG’s “Bang Bang Bang” after 84 days, and Girls’ Generation’s “I Got A Boy” after 90 days. The song even did well on music shows, with five consecutive wins on KBS’s “Music Bank,” three consecutive wins on SBS’s “Inkigayo,” and three consecutive wins on Mnet’s “M!Countdown.”

You Haven't Seen True Fandom Until You've Been to a K-Pop Convention

In a designated area inside the L.A. Convention Center, the slippery EDM intro to the huge hit song “Fire” by K-pop superstars BTS blasts out from the speakers. Suddenly a mass of young girls (and a few boys) rushes into the center of the carpeted floor and start to dance in unison. About 50 tweens and teenagers, moving en masse like the inside of some human clock — and they all know the moves.

This is the scene at the fifth L.A. edition of KCON, a convention of “All Things Hallyu.” Hallyu refers to the Korean culture wave that has improbably spread to the world from the tiny peninsular country roughly the size of Kentucky. Hallyu refers to the global influence of K-pop, K-dramas, K-beauty and Korean food. And KCON, according to Angela Killoren, the COO of CJ E&M America, the company behind the convention, is all about the fans.
