The PD of '4minute's Travel Maker', Im Woosik, revealed that there is no bullying within the group through a telephone interview with Daily Sports. "This is not a group that only looks close on camera. They are just like best friends behind the scenes as well. Kwon Sohyun, the maknae, calls her unnies by their name. All the members call each other by their names and don't feel the need to use honorifics. No one in 4minute gets ostracized. There is absolutely no bullying in this group.”

A representative of Cube Entertainment also revealed 4minute's close bond. "The members of 4minute often speak with each other and share stories, even when they are not filming. The members are so close to each other that they will find each other instead of idols from other groups whenever they have free time." 4minute's strong teamwork can be testified by those who work with them behind the scenes.

hwayoung
After keeping her silence for nearly a month, T-ara‘s former member, Hwayoung, has tweeted in response to the controversy and the way the situation has been unfolding.

Hwayoung wrote,

“Having come across articles about Eunjung unni’s leave from her drama, my heart felt uneasy. It is true that there were confrontations due to differences in opinions with the T-ara members while I was promoting as part of T-ara. However, with the stories about bullying going around and the situation growing worse, my heart was in pain. Both sides have also been really upset and hurt by the distorted facts [that have come out]. However, there were times when I was happy while we were all under one roof, so I want to forget about the past and want us to cheer each other on with smiles on our faces. You all showed so much love, care, and attention to T-ara, so I’m very sorry for having caused concern and worry through this incident to everyone.”

We are demanding that SBS and Yein E&M issue a sincere apology to member Ham Eunjung,” the Union continued. “The only way to restore her tarnished reputation is to essentially reveal the truth, and receive a genuine apology from all of you. KARA has only returned to the music scene for a week and the group has already been hit with a controversy.

On August 22nd, KARA performed their comeback showcase after releasing their 5th mini-album "Pandora." Since then, the girl group has been busy performing their comeback stages on various music programs.

However, KARA has been pulled into several debates and controversies following their comeback. For one, their suggestiveness of their choreography has raised concern, along with their outfits. For "Pandora," KARA wanted to show the appearance of being mature women, but fans are concern that the choreography is too suggestive for '94er Kang Jiyoung. However, netizens seemed to be divided in opinion regarding this topic. Similarly, music programs have not deemed the costumes and/or choreography inappropriate.

In addition, KARA was seen wearing a stage costume on SBS "Inkigayo" for the track "Miss You," reminiscent of a Gucci swimwear. They looked identical to Gucci's 2008 Spring/Summer swimsuit collection, which is yellow with a black and white bow on one shoulder.

Currently, conditions between South Korea and Japan over the Dokdo Islands have been increasingly become intense. During KARA's press conference prior to their comeback showcase, the group were questioned on their thoughts about the Dokdo Islands situation because KARA is popular in Japan, as well as in South Korea.

Park Gyuri replied in a manner in which she avoided answering the question. However, the lack of response received criticism from netizens.

Unfortunately, this is not the last controversy KARA has unexpectedly found themselves in. Recently, KARA's vans have been found parking in handicap spots at a rest stop area for approximately 15-20 minutes. Because KARA is popular and the youth and young adults look up to them, many have criticized that KARA should have not parked in handicap spots.

It has been a week since KARA released their "Pandora" album, yet they have been the topic of both good and bad news.

When Super Junior’s Choi Si-won put his two cents in about the Dokdo islets dispute, he probably had no idea that his welfare would be at stake.

On Aug. 10, Choi retweeted a post by the Blue House that read, “There is no doubt that Dokdo is our territory. We should defend it as if our lives depend on it.”

Cyzo Woman, a Japanese blog, reported on the matter, accusing Choi of being a “political entertainer” who had previously made fun of the Japanese pronunciation of “kimchi.”

With drug abuse having spread to more sectors of society ...
Is Korea’s drug policy working?

If law enforcement figures are any guide, Korea’s illegal drug problem pales in comparison with much of the rest of the world. There were 7,011 arrests for drug offenses in 2011, according to the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, a 7 percent drop from the previous year. The U.S., by way of comparison, in 2010 made more than 1.6 million drug arrests, more than 36 times Korea’s figure, even after differences in population are accounted for.

“Korea is a relatively drug-free country,” said Hwang Sung-hyun, a professor of criminology at Cyber University. “Internationally, the qualification of a drug-free country is whether there are more than 10,000 narcotics-related convicts. In the case of Korea, from 1999 to 2002, the number reached more than 10,000 for four consecutive years, but from 2003 to 2006, the number was reduced to 7,000 and in 2007, the numbers again reached more than 10,000.”

Korea’s relationship with illegal substances, however, has evolved in the last two decades to present new challenges to the authorities. From the 1990s, the range of available drugs increased to include Yaba, LSD, Ecstasy and Nalbuphine hydrochloride, according to “Drug Control Policy in Korea,” a 2004 report by Cho Byung-in, a senior research fellow at the Korean Institute of Criminology. The profile of the average user also became harder to predict. Where drug abuse had been seen as largely confined to the criminal and entertainment worlds, by the turn of the century drug users included significant numbers of salaried workers, housewives, students and farmers. The response from the authorities to these trends has been tough by the standards of almost anywhere. The Act on the Control of Narcotics of 2000 allows for habitual sellers of banned substances to receive the death penalty, while smuggling can carry life imprisonment.

YG Entertainment told allkpop that Big Bang‘s Seungri has successfully completed his first solo fan meetings in Japan.
