The Koxx is getting ready for their second album, Bon Voyage!

Through their label, Happy Robot Records, electronic rock group The Koxx have announced the release of their second mini album, titled "Bon Voyage". The Koxx consists of vocalist and guitarist Lee Hyeonsong, keyboardist Shaun, bassist Park Seonbin, drummer Shin Saron, and guitarist Lee Sooryun.

Recently, The Koxx have been involved in the production of tracks for other artists including Miryo's solo album "MIRYO aka JOHONEY" as well as 4minute's "Dream Racer".

"Bon Voyage" will include four new tracks by the group. The album is set to release on June 21st, marking the group's first release since their latest single "Oriental Girl" in November of 2011.

Texas County Declares War on Korean Brothels

Harris County in Houston, Texas [southwest USA] has declared war on Korean brothels, seeking to stamp out prostitution and other illegal activity. The county on Wednesday submitted a petition to a local court seeking to close down three massage parlors and one night club run by Koreans.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Harris County wrote in the petition that the proprietors "use young women, mostly from Korea, to perform services." County officials are seeking a court order to shut them down for one year.

It is rare for a U.S. county to single out a particular establishment for closure, but there had been constant complaints from local residents. "According to a news release from Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan's office, hundreds of calls for service have been made to law enforcement agencies since 2009 resulting in 57 investigations," the paper said. A police raid on the massage parlors resulted in the arrests of seven sex workers, six of them Korean.

City officials in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New Jersey, which have large Korean populations, are also having a hard time trying to deal with Korean brothels. The situation is the same in Australia, Japan and other countries.

Late last year, the Washington Post said there were more than 80 Asian women in the northern Virginia region engaged in prostitution, most of them Korean. It said they come to the U.S. in search of a new life, but most of them cannot escape the shackles of prostitution.

Idol group Big Bang has dominated the K-Pop scene for the first half of 2012, both online and off.

Big Bang is currently in first place with the most albums sold within the first half of the year. Their mini-album ‘Alive‘ and their special edition album ‘Still Alive‘ have combined to surpass 400,000 units in sales. Their force was strong on the music charts as well. Title songs “Fantastic Baby” and “Monster” along with many of the subtracks on the albums ranked highly on the charts. The boys who boast a wide and solid fan base in Korea have kicked off their World Tour, and are also slowly dominating the market overseas. Because the boys made a comeback after members Daesung and G-Dragon went through some difficult and trying times, this album is that much more meaningful for both the group members and the fans alike.

U-KISS to be first K-pop act to hold fan meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

U-KISS will hold their first fan meeting at Phnom Penh, Cambodia on June 18 KST.

Immediately after filming for SBS‘ ‘Inkigayo‘ on the 17th, U-KISS will leave for Cambodia. After they make a visit to a children’s school in Phnom Penh to do some volunteer work, the group will hold a large scale fan meeting on the 18th.

NH Media shared, “The foreign office also took interest and aided this fan meeting. National guests from Cambodia will attend the event as well. As U-KISS is the first K-pop idol act to hold a fan meeting in Cambodia, the national broadcasting station SCTV is promoting the event multiple times throughout the day.”

In May, U-KISS was the first K-pop idol act to be invited to Colombia, and in addition to Cambodia, they are also being invited by other countries, such as Peru and Brazil, experiencing the Korean wave.

In related news, U-KISS will hold a 16-show 9-city tour in Japan this July.

South Korea bans gold farming bots and the trade of virtual items

The government took the decision to encourage students to not waste time, according to the Korea Times.

A new law will be announced next month that bans all virtual item trades. "The main purpose of the games is for entertainment and should be used for academic and other good purposes," said Kim Kap-soo, head of The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's content policy division.
He said item collecting for commercial use is a "serious hindrance" to creating a "healthy game culture".
The law is the final nail in the coffin for Diablo 3's Auction House in South Korea, where Blizzard has endured a torrid time in recent months. Just this week Korean café owners launched a class action lawsuit against the gaming behemoth over Diablo 3's servers issues and always-online requirement.
Additionally, the new law bans gold farming bots by blocking gamers from using programs that "allow in-game characters to hunt and collect items without the need of a player controlling them".
The Korean government said over 60 per cent of items exchanged on the market were obtained through bots, which were giving online games a "negative reputation".
Break this law and you'll face a 50 million won (around £27,677) fine and a maximum of five years in jail.
The ministry said item trades "contribute to many problems in society, including teenage crime", and felt that a solution was required.

Basically buying virtual items/gold with real money will be illegal, as well as farming gold with bots. So no real money auctions house in Diablo III, no buying gold in WoW, no more items and perks to buy in Free to play games.
