The year started off with SBS "Take Care of Us, Captain", MBC "The Sun and the Moon" and KBS "Wild Romance" followed by KBS "The Equator Man", MBC "The King 2 Hearts" and SBS "The Rooftop Prince".

Today (30th) three more dramas start at the same time.

KBS presents "Bridal Mask", an original based on Heo Yeong-man's work about to be made into a blockbuster.

The cast and staff includes Joo Won who is also called 'the percentage boy', writer Yoo Hyeon-mi and director Yoon Seong-sik. In the scenes that have previously been previewed show action scenes almost as good as or better than "The Slave Hunters".

MBC presents "I Do, I Do" with Kim Seon-ah who is another guaranteed key to success.

"I Do, I Do" is about a workaholic shoe designer named Hwang Ji-an who falls in love with a jobless man Park Tae-kang (Lee Jang-woo) who dreams of a whole new life.

Kim Seon-ah has transformed from foot to bottom for this drama and she has a 11 years age difference from Lee Jang-woo.

SBS also presents a strong number called "Ghost - Drama" with So Ji-sub and Lee Yeon-hee.

"Ghost - Drama" is a cyber investigations drama about the effects of the internet and SNS written by Kim Eun-hee who also wrote "Sign".

viewers are curious to see this newly dealt with subject of a cyber investigations. So Ji-sub commented, "I was attracted to this drama from the script". So Ji-sub takes on the role of a cyber investigations detective.

Jo Yeo-jeong keeps it steamy in 'The Emperor's Concubine'

Actress Jo Yeo-jeong returns to the big screen this summer with "The Emperor's Concubine". [JoongAng Ilbo]

Actress Jo Yeo-jeong debuted as a cover girl with a heart-melting smile at the age of 16. She's been appearing in drama series, music videos, TV commercials and films one after another ever since, but she's been considered one of those actresses who is neither famous nor ignored.

A single film, however, gave her a chance to shine two years ago. "The Servant", based on a Korean folktale "The Story of Chunhyang", was a well-made love story set in the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), but the script was turned down by a few actresses because it contained too many sex scenes.

Jo, however, took advantage of the opportunity and proved she's more than the cute girl next door.

Two years have passed since "The Servant" hit theaters, and Jo returns to the silver screen again with another period film, "The Emperor's Concubine", which promotes itself as a steamy drama that focuses on the tangled relationship between the king, his concubine Hwa-yeon (played by Jo) and another man who used to be in a relationship with Hwa-yeon.

Looking at Jo's two recent films, some say she has decided to become an actress who speaks with her body. But when watching "The Emperor's Concubine", which will be released on coming Wednesday, it's clear why Jo has decided to undress again.

The JoongAng Ilbo recently caught up with Jo to talk about her upcoming film. The following are excerpts from the interview.

Lee Min Jung Takes a Peek Inside Gong Yoo’s Pants

With less than a week until the grand premiere of KBS rom-com series, “Big” released new stills featuring its two leads Lee Min Jung and Gong Yoo. In the photos, Lee Min Jung attempts to take a peek inside Gong Yoo’s pants, while the latter tries to push her away.

In the upcoming series, Lee Min Jung plays Gil Daran, a spunky and at times clumsy teacher, while Gong Yoo takes on the role of Seo Yoon Jae, Gil Daran’s fiance and pediatrician who swaps bodies with 18-year-old delinquent.

VIXX releases making-of for "Super Hero" PV!

Rookie group VIXX has been stirring up interest with the release of their debut music video for “Super Hero“, and to help their new fans get more acquainted with the group, they have revealed another video featuring footage from behind the scenes.

The video has just been released through the group’s official YouTube channel, “RealVIXX”, and documents the members throughout the filming of the music video.

VIXX's interactions with IU and Girls Generation garnering hot response

Rookie idol group VIXX was recently photographed with singer IU.

VIXX's leader N recently said on his Twitter, "IU senpai not only has a beautiful voice, and a beautiful face but a beautiful personality as well. Real V."

In the photo, IU and VIXX's members make the V-sign with their hands while smiling brightly.

In another photo, member RAVI posted a photo while holding his copy of Girls' Generation's Tiffany, Taeyeon and Seohyun's CD, which has attracted attention of many fans. The signed album had a message from the girls saying "VIXX kouhais! Congratulations on your debut!" showing their support.

Fans said, "IU and VIXX together is good!" and "I wish VIXX can become one of the 'nations singers' too!" as well as "VIXX has rescued our country from its previous existence," and various other responses.

VIXX's new single, "SUPER HERO" is currently gaining a lot of popularity.

Teaser Images of G-Dragon and T.O.P

There is much hype surrounding Big Bang’s special edition, “Still Alive.” There have been many teasers released thus far. Recently, there have been a few additional photos of members G-Dragon and T.O.P which have surfaced.

First, is leader G-Dragon whose appearance is still rather fashionable. Yet his look is different from that of the two previous teaser photos released. In the photo it seems as though he has shed his long colorful weave, which he has slung across his shoulder. What remains is a partial Mohawk which has not been dyed red, yet.

Next we have T.O.P who is still sporting the mint ice cream inspired hair. In this photo, the hair dye has just about faded out as it is nowhere close to as vivid as when the “Alive” promotions began. Again the power rapper displays his fashion sense with his outfit and style of hair.

These two photos vary from the other “Monster” teasers as they are un-monster like. It is as if we have taken a step back in time to the pre-monster era.  Keep with Soompi for more updates regarding the release of Big Bang’s special edition.

2012 Dream Concert performances

On May 12th, the annual Dream Concert took place at 6PM KST at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Many of the top artists and idols in South Korea participated in this grande concert including TVXQ, Girls' Generation, 2PM, 2AM, KARA, BEAST, 4minute, MBLAQ, T-ARA, Infinite, Secret, ZE:A, Teen Top, SISTAR, B1A4, BoyFriend, Davichi, Ailee, Rania, EXO-K, and A Pink. 

The 2012 Dream Concert was MCed by 2PM's Taecyeon, KARA's Seungyeon and ZE:A's Siwan. 

After nearly over a 3-week wait, fans who were not able to participate in this year's concert can finally watch the broadcast version, which was finally aired on May 30th on KBS.

The <10 ZE:A fans unite and form a prayer circle!

ZE:A has made the unfortunate announcement that they will be delaying their comeback due to leader Junyoung‘s injured ankle.

On May 30, Star Empire revealed, “ZE:A’s Junyoung injured his right ankle, which has led us to push back ZE:A’s comeback date, originally scheduled for June 21.”

Junyoung slipped while filming for an outdoor variety show on May 28, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The agency also added, “He’ll be needing treatment for the time being so ZE:A’s comeback status will be decided according to Junyoung’s level of recovery. Their showcase and album release will be temporarily delayed.”

Dal Shabet releases comeback album jacket photo for ‘Bang Bang’

Dal★Shabet, has released a group album jacket picture with their new member Woohee for their comeback album release, 'Bang Bang'

Having wrapped up their previous promotions as ‘Dark Shabet’, the girls have made an adorable transformation as lovely summer ladies in a trendy black and white style. Nicknamed the ‘babydoll style’, the girls are in feminine one pieces and skirts with roller skates to add a fun flair to the photo.

Woohee herself is seen sporting an entirely different look to her profile photos and looks to be fitting right in with the group.

Dal Shabet’s producers E-TRIBE stated, “Dal Shabet’s former albums emphasized trends and styles, but this time, their comeback album will be focused on its melodies. Woohee’s addition to the vocal line has allowed the creation of a more mature vocal color to the group.”

‘Bang Bang’ will be released on June 7th.

Jay of The Wanted sings "I Am The Best"

British-Irish boy band The Wanted has quickly climbed to superstardom in the UK and received recognition in the States and all over the world with their hit #1 tracks such as “All Time Low” and “Glad You Came“.

As it turns out, member Jay McGuiness of the hot UK band is a fan of 2NE1! In a Wanted Wednesday video uploaded earlier today on May 30th, Jay sings the chorus of 2NE1′s track “I Am The Best” (내가 제일 잘 나가 / I am the Best) and asks fans to tweet him if they know where the song came from.

Why (Some) Pinoys Love KPop

No doubt about it, the Korean wave (also known as K-Wave or the Hallyu phenomenon) has landed and it has landed hard. As evidenced by the thousands who attended the Philippine K-Pop conventions, as well as the consistent sales figures of K-Pop albums and concert tickets, it is clear that many Filipinos are card-carrying members of the fandom.

Hooked by the spellbinding twists of Korean dramas and the addicting head-bopping sounds of K-Pop, Filipinos young and young-at-heart have embraced K-Pop and they are not ashamed of it.
The thing is, K-Pop fans often suffer the puzzlement, or worse, the derision of those who do not understand the genre. They often deal with questions like "How can you like something you don't understand?" Or, "Why do you like these artists who look weird?" Or, get taunted with, "You're a kimchi-noy."

But is K-Pop really alien to us? Is it a surprising that many Filipinos love K-Pop? Beyond the usual reasons—"because K-pop artists sound good," "because Koreanovelas are engaging"—here are a few reasons Filipinos have embraced K-Pop.

Lim Sang-Soo said foreigners can't understand his very korean movie that's why he failed at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival appears to be particularly cruel for one Korean director. Perhaps Lim Sang-soo's tirade for his failure to win means a gap the Korean film industry has to fill to be a producer of movies that truly live up to global standards.

Before and after the closing ceremony, Lim, who directed, "The Taste of Money", said to various Korean media that his failure to win was a personal "tragedy" and his participation a mistake because he was telling a "very Korean story" that foreigners can't understand.
