Rookie girl group SPICA has been gaining a lot of attention thanks to their charisma and undeniable talent. Member Kim Boa in particular has become hot topic, as it’s been revealed that she was heavily involved in the music industry behind the scenes before her debut.

Kim Boa holds an impressive career record. She’s been involved in an idol singer’s chorus and was also a vocal director.

But that’s not all.

Kim Boa is the composer of SPICA’s debut song, “Russian Roulette“, and she was the guide vocal in nearly all of the songs created by SweetTune. [lol no]

Kim Boa served as a guide vocal in many of the songs produced by Sweetune, who also composed SPICA’s debut song, “Russian Roulette“. Additionally, she’s participated in the chorus of all of INFINITE‘s songs. You can hear Kim Boa’s voice in songs like KARA‘s “Jumping” and INFINITE’s “Be Mine” and “White Confession“.

Netizens were floored by Kim Boa’s achievements, and left glowing comments on community boards. Several comments included, ”She showed us impressive vocal skills on stage and turns out there was a reason for that” and “She’s a rookie but her record is that of a pro”.

source: allkpop + newsen + jun-q

what a flawless queen~☆彡

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] askbask pointed out in the comments that if you go to the Korea Music Copyright Association's website and search either "Russian Roulette" or "Kim Bo A" (as her name is listed in their directory) Boa's name is not on the production credits for "Russian Roulette" for either writing or composing the song. Only Han Jaeho & Kim Seung Soo (together Sweet Tune) as well as Song Soo Yun are listed on the credits. So something in this story is erroneous. Boa has however certifiably worked on the lyrics for numerous other songs for KARA, Rainbow, and others and has a co-composer credit for a KARA song as well.

Edit 2: allkpop removed the statement saying Boa composed SPICA's debut song smh. I have updated the post accordingly. sorry for disseminating misinformation, pls forgive(ノ´д`)(シ_ _)シ

South Korea on Tuesday proposed holding a Red Cross meeting with North Korea to discuss reinstating reunions of family members separated for nearly six decades.

South Korea's Red Cross chief Yu Jung-keun made the offer in a message to her North Korean counterpart earlier Tuesday through their channel at the border village of Panmunjom, according to the South Korean government. The offer comes despite lingering tensions on the Korean Peninsula over the North's two deadly attacks on the South in 2010.

The North has recently urged South Korea to offer an apology over its response to the December death of former leader Kim Jong-il as a key condition for resuming stalled bilateral talks. South Korea expressed sympathy to the people of North Korea over Kim's death, but did not send an official mourning delegation to Pyongyang. Seoul did approve condolence trips by private delegations. South Korea has expressed regret over what it sees is the North's latest propaganda campaign.

Millions of Koreans have been separated from their family members since the 1950-53 Korean War ended in a cease-fire, not a peace treaty, leaving the two sides still technically at war. The neighboring countries have usually staged reunions around Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving holiday that is celebrated in both countries, and other important national holidays. The divided Koreas have held more than a dozen rounds of reunions since a landmark summit in 2000, bringing together more than 21,700 family members who had not seen each other since the war. South Korea wants to resume regular reunions but none have taken place since October 2010.

There are no direct means of contact between ordinary civilians of the two countries that remain divided by a heavily fortified border. (Yonhap)

WASHINGTON (Yonhap) -- The United States said Monday that it will hold another round of high-level talks with North Korea next week, an announcement that came hours before a closely watched trip by Chinese Vice Premier Xi Jinping here.

"Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies will lead an inter-agency team to Beijing on Feb. 23 to meet with a DPRK delegation led by First Vice Minister Kim Kye-gwan," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters. DPRK stands for North Korea's official name, Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Actor Kim Bum, who recently appeared in the JTBC drama “Padam Padam,” is suffering from degenerative arthritis from working out and dieting too much, his agency revealed over the weekend.

According to King Kong Entertainment, Kim was diagnosed with osteoarthritis after the extreme dieting he did to prepare for his role in “Padam Padam.”

It was reported that the 22-year-old actor lost 11 kilograms for his role. It was also reported that the actor’s car accident in 2009 played a part in Kim’s recent osteoarthritis diagnosis.

However, the agency said that although it is true that Kim does have the condition, the affliction is not severe, and he is able to walk and perform general tasks without assistance. Kim recently finished filming a TV advertisement in Thailand and returns to Korea today.

Kim, who is also a student at Chung-Ang University, where he majors in theater and film, is scheduled to shoot a new thriller movie titled “Miracle.” Work on the film will begin next month.

Park Jin-young, a popular singer, songwriter and record producer, has been ordered to pay damages to singer-songwriter Kim Sin-il, who filed a plagiarism lawsuit against him. Park said he would appeal the decision.

The Seoul Central District Court on Friday afternoon ruled that the first four measures in the chorus of the song “Someday,” written by Park for teen sensation IU and released last year, are significantly similar to four measures of the song “To My Man,” written by Kim for female singer Ash and released in 2005. The court ordered Park to pay Kim 21.67 million won ($19,270) in damages.

Kim filed the lawsuit last July, demanding compensation of 110 million won. He argued that “Someday” is similar to “To My Man” in general composition and in many aspects of the chords, melody and rhythm.

Although B2ST‘s hit song “Mystery” was originally released in 2009, the group had never released a music video for this song — until now. (WRONG.)

B2ST premiered this special MV during their ‘Beautiful Show‘ world tour concert in Seoul. The video was played in lieu of the group’s actual performance of the song, ending with the word “EASY” as the introduction to their next song in the lineup.

The video features clips of the boys fingerbreaking and fingerboarding. (Yes, fingerboarding.) Is B2ST trying to revive the great trend of the late ’90s?

In any case, it’s resulted in a great gift for fans — just in time for Valentine’s Day. Check out their music video below!

The video finally turned to the “the last J, Junsu“, who talked a bit about his musical before concluding with a cheerful message, saying he wished for everyone to be happy and that he loved them very much.
