Could 2NE1's US debut be even closer than we think? Thanks to a tip from @YGfan25, we learned that 2NE1's CDs are now available via BEST BUY USA online.

Rather than being under the foreign category the albums are listed under POP. They currently have 2NE1's 1st Mini-Album, 2nd Mini-Album and Live Concert CD. Also, are not yet ready to ship, so this is like a pre-order. For Big Bang fans there are also SEVEN Big Bang albums on sale.

Although we are a bit disappointed there is no picture or tracklist, hopefully those come soon. We are super excited to see the two year wait may finally be coming to a close.

If you have a Best Buy account, even if you don't buy the cd, because you already own it, be sure to write up a glowing review

About 64 percent of Koreans are concerned about possible riots or demonstrations by immigrants as their communities grow larger, a survey showed Sunday.

The survey was conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) on 1,000 people aged over 20 nationwide through telephone interviews to see how Koreans perceive the inflow of immigrants here.

It showed a majority think that the increase is having a negative impact on society, causing social and cultural discord between Koreans and non-Koreans.

Lee Sam-sik, a KIHASA researcher, said the negative attitude of Koreans toward foreign nationals can be a serious problem that causes social discord.

“The survey indicates that, in the almost homogeneous local society, Koreans may have difficulty living with foreigners and tackling problems,” he said.

He suggested the country considers measures such as a quota for foreign residents and a proper screening system to minimize the side effects from sudden influxes.

Girl group Nine Muses‘ new dance is being criticized for being “too sexy.”

The members of Nine Muses unveiled their new song “News” for the very first time on January 12th and performed it live for the first time on Mnet M! Countdown. The choreography to “News” is extremely fierce and powerful; the girls utilize their entire bodies in the dance, and the moves include hip thrusts and sexy body waves that are the highlights of the entire performance. In order to perfect each of these moves, the girls practiced nonstop each day from 10 in the morning until 10 in the evening.

But even after all of their hard work, their dance was deemed to be “too sexy” and some of the most important moves are unfit to air on TV.

The problematic moves that will be unable to air on TV include a part of the dance where the girls hold hands with male dancers that lie on the ground and thrust their hips, as well as the ‘sexy performance’ with the male dancers during the rap portion of the song.

Nine Muses’ agency reported, “Nine Muses’ “News” dance was criticized as being too provocative and we inevitably have to change the choreography. The girls will be promoting with the new dance once it is modified.”

Netizens who heard the news voiced their own opinions saying, “Girl group dances are too much these days“, “This doesn’t seem too bad“, and more.

It’s being reported that actress Moon Chae Won is reviewing a casting offer from SBS‘s upcoming drama, ‘Rooftop Prince‘.

The drama already made headlines after it was revealed that JYJ‘s Yoochun would be starring as the male lead. Moon Chae Won’s agency had stated, “The script was received three days ago and is currently being reviewed.

While her representatives avoided a direct answer, they did say, “The script is excellent and it’s been put up for consideration.

The casting offer drew great excitement from drama fans, since Yoochun and Moon Chae Won were both excellent in their respective historical dramas. Moon Chae Won especially has been considered to be the ‘blue chip’ of historical projects recently, thanks to her great performances 2011′s ‘Arrow: The Ultimate Weapon’ and ‘The Princess’ Man’.

“Rooftop Prince” is romantic fantasy drama about a Joseon dynasty prince who lost his princess. 300 years into the future, the prince and his subjects are reborn into the 21st century in Seoul, where he aims to complete his unfinished love in this lifetime.

Today the Associated Press opened the first fully-operated news bureau in North Korea from a Western news organisation, a press release announced. The international news wire's office in Pyongyang will be the first to offer, with a full-time staff, a video and text coverage from the country. The plan to open the bureau was announced last June.

According to the Guardian, the opening arrives after months of discussions with the Korea Central News Agency, inside which the new office will be based, and it was originally planned to open last December but it has been postponed after the death of leader Kim Jong-il.

The agency already had a video office in North Korea six years ago through its London-based Associated Press Television News (APTN) and it has been the only independent foreign media news agency operating in North Korea till now, as reported on the APTN website.

North Korea, run by the last surviving Stalinist regime, is among the countries with the most tightly state controlled news environment. This leads to questions about how effectively the news wire will be able to freely do its job.

North Korea is ranked 177 out of 178 on the 2010 Press Freedom Index created by Reporters Without Borders and, as the organization reported, in recent years it has always appeared in one of the last three places. See here for the coverage on North Korea by The New York Times.

The government allows foreign visitors occasional visits and journalists are restricted in their movements, the Guardian reported, quoting in the article AP's president and CEO, Tom Curley, who said in a statement that - despite the political situation in the country - the Pyongyang bureau would operate under the same standards and practices as AP bureaux worldwide.

A steady buzz is building over Adam Johnson’s The Orphan Master’s Son (Random), but it is not the only well-reviewed title concerning North Korea. Consider also these works to create a minicollection for interested patrons:

James Church’s Inspector O novels (Minotaur), A Corpse in the Koryo, Hidden Moon, Bamboo and Blood, and The Man with the Baltic Stare: Perhaps the best-known fiction set in North Korea, these hard-boiled mysteries feature a state security officer and provide readers with nuanced glimpses into the politics and people of the little-known country.
■ Hwang Sok-Yong’s The Guest (Seven Stories): living in the United States, Rev. Ryu Yosop has long been haunted by his memories of a near three-month-long massacre he witnessed in his native North Korea. In this carefully observed and intricate novel, Yosop decides to leave America and travel back to his homeland to confront his past.
■ Jeff Talarigo’s The Ginseng Hunter (Nan A. Talese): descriptive and bleak, this book places readers on the border between North Korea and China, following a ginseng hunter who is faced with a maelstrom of violence as he becomes entangled with a North Korean prostitute.
■ Barbara Demick’s Nothing To Envy: The Ordinary Lives of North Korea (Spiegel & Grau): For narrative nonfiction fans, Demick recounts the real life stories of North Korean defectors. Each oral history reveals the personal cost of living in a totalitarian state and puts a human face on the few news stories we hear about desperate poverty and psychological isolation.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao accompanies Premier of Democratic People's Republic of Korea Choe Yong Rim to view a guard of honour during a welcoming ceremony inside the Great Hall of the People on September 26, 2011 in Beijing, China

In the weeks following Kim Jong-il’s death, many North Korea observers questioned whether his third son and chosen heir, Kim Jong-un, could successfully consolidate power in the wake of his father’s death. According to this view, understanding what happens inside of North Korea is instrumental in forecasting its behavior.

While this exercise is potentially fruitful, trying to speculate about the domestic politics of North Korea remains guesswork – the DPRK is notoriously opaque, leaving analysts little room for forming reliable projections.
And while Kim Jong-un’s power struggle will undoubtedly influence North Korea’s foreign policy going forward )

Actress Lee Min Jung revealed a time where she was locked in a bathroom without clothes during a trip to Europe in her student days.

During a recent recording of SBS’s ‘Healing Camp‘, Lee Min Jung confessed, “When I was a student, I went on a trip to Europe where I experienced being locked in a bathroom, completely naked. At the time, I was overcome with a fear that was like something out of a horror movie." She continued, "I felt fear much similar to claustrophobia" and eventually started sobbing. "Throughout the whole trip, that was the moment that I used my English the most.”

She also revealed a story of how she had to spend 1 night and 2 days with drug criminals during her Europe trip.

This episode will reveal that story, her bucket list, and more when it airs on January 16th at 11:15 p.m.

The nine ladies of Girls’ Generation are without a doubt one the most iconic girl groups in the music industry today. Their immense success in not just K-Pop, but in the J-Pop industry have been yet again re-established by the group breaking yet another record.

The group’s self-titled Japanese debut album “Girls’ Generation”, which was released last June, has just received the title of being the first album by a Korean artist to stay within the Top 10 chart numbers on the Oricon charts for 17 consecutive weeks.

The only other Korean album to have met with similar success was the official OST soundtrack for the immensely popular drama, ‘Winter Sonata‘ back in 2003, which stayed on the charts for 16 consecutive weeks.

(on left, Choi Siwon; on right, newly re-elected Taiwan president Ma Ying-jeou)

GTV drama Skip Beat's main actors and actresses Choi Siwon, Lee Donghae, Ivy Chen, and Bianca Bai attended a press conference in Taiwan. Siwon has recently been found by netizens to bear a resemblance to President Ma Ying-jeou in his youth. Upon hearing of the matter, Siwon said with a smile, "He's very handsome!"

Donghae and Siwon know that their visit coincides with the presidential election in Taiwan. Siwon's eyes widened in surprise at seeing President Ma's photo, saying, "Seeing the picture of young President Ma for the first time, he is a very handsome president." Donghae, standing nearby, commented, "Then we can know what Siwon's future appearance is."

Broadcast ratings for the drama, though not as good as expected, had a slight revival last week. In an effort to help improve them, Siwon quickly shouted to fans, "If the ratings are higher, then we will come [to Taiwan] often."

Although Siwon and Donghae are in South Korea, they can still regard the drama through the internet. Upon being asked if he could understand the Chinese pronunciation and subtitles, Siwon jokingly replied, "I always look at the script as I watch at the same time."

The initial voice dubber for Siwon has been under fire for doing a poor job. In his defense, Siwon said, "[He] sounds very kind and cordial." However, he has only seen the first two episodes, and has not heard the newly assigned voice dubber. Donghae, who "must" see every episode, claimed that he had not discovered a change in the sound.

Ivy Chen, upon hearing the problem of the voice dubbing, let slip, "But the third episode [after the change of voice dubber] still did not have higher ratings." Believing the initial voice dubber had been wronged, she joked, "Now that everyone has nothing to speak ill about, it's the female protagonist's turn to be criticized." The movie adaptation of the drama Ruffian Hero, in which Ivy Chen played a minor role in, is said by the director to be in the process of re-editing, to help with her apparent disappearance in the movie. When asked by the media if she believed this, Ivy Chen replied, "I do not have anymore expectations."
