On November 24th at 2pm, MC Yoon Do Hyun, and the three judges of the highly anticipated reality television competition (SBS Survival Audition K-Pop Star) BoA (SM Entertainment), Park Jin Young (JYP Entertainment), and Yang Hyun Seok (YG Entertainment), held a press conference to kick off the show's debut in a week and a half, on December 4th.

FNC Music cancels CN BLUE’s “BLUE STORM in Indonesia” concert

FNC Music stunned thousands of expectant fans by announcing the cancellation of CN BLUE‘s solo concert, “BLUE STORM in Indonesia“.

“The [BLUE STORM] in Indonesia concert, scheduled for November 26th, has been cancelled,” the company revealed through CN BLUE’s official website.
“This is a problem stemming from our lack of trust with the local Indonesian organizers of the event, thanks to shoddy event planning and failing to live up to their contract.”
“Although we tried to make several requests about the promotions and the concert, they never replied to our requests which aided our decision to cancel the event,” FNC Music said.
“Although we tried our hardest to stop the event from being cancelled with our fans in mind, we are very sorry to provide disappointment to the fans with this kind of result.”

FNC Music promised to hold the concert once everything has been settled with the Indonesian organizers. “We promise to once again proceed with the concert when all of the problems with the domestic organizers have been solved concerning this concert.” they said.

Daesung to Make First Public Appearance at “What’s Up” Press Conference

Big Bang’s Daesung will make his first public appearance at the press conference for upcoming MBN drama“What’s Up” on December 6. Since his car accident in May, Daesung has suspended all activities in Korea.

“Daesung will appear in public at the press conference with other cast members,” an MBN official told local media. Daesung will appear alongside Im Joo Hwan, Lee Soo Hyuk, Jang Hee Jin, and Yim Joo Eun for the first press meeting.

This will be the first official public event in Korea for Daesung since his car accident last May. He made an appearance at the MTV “European Music Awards” earlier this month with Big Bang, but that show took place in the UK.

“What’s Up” is a TV drama series featuring Daesung as the main lead character. The drama is about the live of theater major students. The 18-part series was filmed before Daesung’s car accident. Meanwhile, Daesung will make his first stage appearance at the “YG Family Concert” next month in Korea. Welcome back Daesung!

2011 Melon Music Awards Winners and Performances

K-Pop stars flocked to the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium on November 24th to attend the ‘2011 Melon Music Awards‘.

The awards show, which began in 2009 and is now entering its 3rd year, established itself as one of the big four music awards ceremonies in South Korea, alongside the Mnet Asian Music Awards, Golden Disk Awards, and Seoul Music Awards.

TS Entertainment introduces Zelo, Bang Yong Guk’s sub-unit partner!

TS Entertainment has just unveiled a picture of Zelo, Bang Yong Guk‘s partner in his new sub-unit.

Although he’s young (born in 1996), Zelo stands at 182 cm (~ 6 ft) tall and possesses a low voice. His specialty is rap, and he’s said to possess good looks that will definitely snatch hearts.

In the photo revealed today, Zelo covered half his face with a big mask, which allowed him to give the camera an enigmatic, if not intense look. There’s an aura of mystery surrounding Zelo, and expectations are rising high for his debut.

TS Entertainment stated, “Zelo is the youngest out of the members who are scheduled to debut, but he is a talented individual who possesses great potential, as he can rap in addition to performing acrobatics and dance. Zelo comes from ‘Zelos’, the god of rivalry in Greek mythology. He was named so because we saw how hard he tried amongst all the hyungs.”

Bang Yong Guk and Zelo teamed up to create a unit, and they’ll be releasing the music video for ‘Never Give Up’ (featuring SECRET’s Hyosung) on November 25th via TS Entertainment’s homepage and various online sites.

One Way's Chance will produce full album for MBLAQ

One Way's Chance made an exciting announcement on Twitter, revealing to fans that he will be working with boy band MBLAQ to produce a full album.

"Producing a whole album for MBLAQ. Very excited," tweeted the producer on November 22nd, exciting fans of both groups. Following over a hundred retweets and many replies of support and anticipation, Chance continued, "I'm excited to bring you guys the exciting news for MBLAQ. But I do want to make things in better understanding. I am working now as a part of producing team with a partner and it is called "이단 옆차기" [Cult Side Kick] ^^ We are very excited with this new project. I did mention about the new producing team before didn't I? ^^ Any ways thanks for all the interest. We will come strong with it."

So far, neither Chance nor J.Tune Camp have revealed more information about the new album. Chance has previously worked with B1A4 and TS Entertainment's still-to-debut boy group.

2ne1 debuts at #12 on Oricon Weekly Chart

All female group 2ne1's debut Japanese single didn't manage to catch on last week. Though the song, GO AWAY (JAPANESE VERSION) had been out in Japan since earlier this year, it failed to garner much interest from the Japanese public. Even to the millions who watched the morning program, MezamashiTV to which it was the theme for some odd months. Peaking at the number nine spot, the single managed to sell just over 13,000 copies to slot in its place at number 12 on the weekly Oricon charts.

Their debut mini album also failed to live up to expectations. Though the group reportedly took in millions from the 70,000 fans who attended their NOLZA live tours, the sales fell quite short of the number of reported attendees. It can still be noted and celebrated that 2ne1 managed to surpass AKB48's three week old single.

According to Oricon, 2ne1 has since fallen out of the Daily Top 30.

S.Korean teen accused of killing grade-obsessed mum

A teenager in education-obsessed South Korea allegedly killed his mother because she hounded him to come top in exams, and then hid her body at their home for eight months, police said Thursday.

Police have sought a formal warrant to arrest the 18-year-old, who is thought to have killed his mother in March by stabbing her in the neck, according to a detective at a police station in Seoul's Gwangjin district.

The officer, who declined to be identified, confirmed details in a Yonhap news agency report.

The crime came to light when the boy's father, who lived apart from his wife, paid a rare visit home and found his son's behaviour suspicious.

A Teacher Finds Movie Stardom in South Korea

The best chance an English-language teacher in South Korea has of acquiring military experience, it appears -- outside of creating an incident at a checkpoint near the border – is working for Kang Je-gyu, one of the country‘s top movie directors.

A would-be actor who prefers just to be known as Jack is the latest in a long line of western teachers, investment bankers, engineers, plumbers, tourists, vagabonds and backpackers who have found themselves catapulted onto the Asian big screen thanks to the local scarcity of western faces. Their presence is usually fleeting and villainous but no less memorable for it.

Jack’s appearance thus mirrors the Hollywood movies of the 1930s when American directors sought Chinese or Japanese farmers or Filipino immigrants -- more or less at random-- to play Asian characters. Perhaps unaware that he was also playing his part in a reciprocal historical wave, Jack was recruited to be an extra on the movie set of My Way, Kang’s new World War II blockbuster, which is due to for release sometime before Christmas.
