Yoon Jongshin’s passionate attempt of Infinite’s difficult ‘scorpion dance’ draws laughter

Singer Yoon Jongshin attempted in copying the dance of group Infinite’s dance which drew in huge laughter.

Recently on the episode of ‘Director’s Cut Season 2’ on the cable channel Mnet was changing the legendary song ‘Silla’s Moonlit Night’ as the MCs Harim and Lee Jung along with guests Horan and Infinite members Sunggyu, Hoya, and L all took off to Kyungju as they attempted to do Infinite’s scorpion dance.

In an ice breaker to getting to know one another better, Lee Jung asked how Hoya came across music in which he answered, “When I was in elementary school, I fell for dancing and music in general seeing our senior Yoo Seung Joon. Since then, I raised my dreams of becoming a singer.” 

Then Yoon Jongshin asked Hoya the position of the scorpion dance, the most difficult part of the choreography of Infinite’s song ‘BTD’ (Before the Dawn). Lee Jung, Harim, and Yoon Jongshin took turns in attempting the scorpion dance, but turned out awkward, causing laughter amongst the staff. 

Amongst the MCs, Yoon Jongshin was the most passionate when attempting the scorpion dance, earning the laughter of the entire set staff. 

Meanwhile, Mnet’s ‘Director’s Cut Season 2’ is a music hitchhiking program in venturing off on a journey and creating 2011 versions of Korea’s hit songs. The episode will air 12AM on the night of the 22nd.

South Korean Jailed Over Cooked-Up Phone

A South Korean who cooked his mobile phone in a microwave and then claimed compensation from the maker Samsung Electronics has been jailed for one year for extortion.

The 28-year-old surnamed Lee received about five million won (about $A4000) in compensation from Samsung after claiming his phone exploded while being charged.

"Lee swindled Samsung out of compensation by capitalising on the company's reluctance to ignore consumers' complaints," the court said in a verdict on Friday, quoted by Yonhap news agency.

Following media reports about his claim, Lee staged a one-man protest outside the company's headquarters and at Incheon International Airport before being paid the compensation.

real bands go on real tours: Apollo 18 reflects on their trip to America

Apollo 18 returned from their crazy first United States tour, taking them through SXSW and the Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival with many stops in between. Even after the conclusion of their US tour, they played a couple dates in Japan on their return.

Now that they’ve been back in Korea for a little bit, I emailed the band asking if they would be willing to answer some more questions, this time about their experience in the United States.

Thankfully, they agreed and in-between readjusting the time difference they sent back answers to my questions.

From the first day of the tour to the last day, how did your expectations change?

Daeinn: Our expectations didn’t change during the tour. This was our first American tour, so we didn’t know what to expect in each city. Every day was a new experience for us with new venues, new bands, and new people. Everyday we learned new things. The whole experience was great and has made us a stronger band.

The flood of girl groups this year might actually be doing some damage to the music industry (besides saturating the idol market). Netizens are raising suspicions over manipulated album sales statistics from three girl groups, and consequently, Hanteo – an album sales anaylst site – has become the center of hot attention.

Apparently, netizens spotted sudden spikes in album sales from the Brave Girls, Rainbow, and 4minute, which caused some concerned discussions on various community boards as to whether companies were actually buying back their albums to create an ‘all-kill’ effect. Because the Korean music market isn’t as strong as it could be, it only takes a few thousand sales to achieve that much-coveted ‘all-kill’ title.

In effect, all it would take for an agency to bump their rookies to the next level is to spend a little extra money to help push false reports about ‘all-kill’ titles, and hopefully grab a music program trophy in the process.
