Hangeng Won’t Give Up Korean Market

Super Junior member Hangeng, who launched his solo singing career in China after he sued his agency, SM Entertainment, said he will not give up the Korean market despite focusing on the Chinese music market.

In a recent interview with Chinese media, Hangeng said being a solo artist is quite stressful compared to being in Super Junior where he would only do his part.

Hangeng, the only Chinese member of Super Junior, sued SM Entertainment in December last year to void his exclusive contract with the Korean agency.

He returned to China where he started charting his solo career as a singer.

Despite what happened, Hangeng believes that he still has fans in Korea.
“There are still fans who are supporting me over there after all,” Hangeng said in a translation by fan forum geng-bao.net.

Hangeng released his first solo Chinese album “Geng Xin” in July and to date, it has sold 350,000 copies in China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong.

The group BEAST is attracting hot attention as soon as they had revealed the teaser video for their 3rd album.

The teaser video for the title song ‘Breath’ (SOOM) was released on the 24th at 10AM on the official homepage (www.playb2st.com) and other various online portal sites at the same time.

Due to the visit from the fans waiting for the release of the video for BEAST’s comeback, it caused an enormous amount of traffic that even caused the server to go down for a moment.

2NE1 is definitely dominating the music market lately with their triple hit songs ranking in every music chart and maintaining its top position for over 10 days. The four ladies sat down for an interview with Star News to update everyone on their recent events.

- There’s been a huge reaction about 2NE1’s first official album. How do you feel?
Dara: I’m extremely thankful and I feel great. I often think that we’re blessed children, haha. I hope that everyone continues to enjoy our performances.
Bom: We worked hard on making this album to fulfill the anticipation of those that waited for us. I feel like our efforts have been delivered well so I’m happy.

- A triple track promotion is something that doesn’t happen often. Which song out of the three do you like the most?
CL: With every new song that we obtained, we realized that we wanted to show all of them on stage. We chose three songs in the end, but all three of them have such different charms and colors that it’s hard to pick just one favorite.
Minzy: Since we were on hiatus for a year, we wanted to show everyone various sides of us. I love all three songs, but if I had to choose, I’d pick ‘Go Away.’ It’s a very refreshing song that a lot of women can compare to.

Eunhyuk tweeted on the 22th September, "Our country's inherent festival (,) Chuseok!!!! Really, (we) should wear traditional hanbok during Chuseok in order to have the taste (of the festival)!!! ^.^ It's been a long time since I returned home and had fun~ Everyone (,) have a happy and fun time~" together with a photo.

In the photo, Eunhyuk who's wearing a cap sideways had a smile on, and especially his dog "Choco" who’s wearing a traditional hanbok, attracted attention.

Waning K-pop boy band 2PM are hoping for one last hurrah in the land of the rising sun.

Japan’s Sankei Sports emblazoned its Wednesday edition with the headline “Asia No. 1, 2PM to debut in Japan.”

The six-member JYP Entertainment stalwart will make its official Japanese debut in November in a move largely seen as an attempt to capitalize on the resurgent interest in K-pop through the recent success of Girls’ Generation.

To kick off their first venture into foreign territory, the band is set to release a music video DVD containing seven of their biggest hits on Nov. 24, awkwardly titled “Hottest-2PM 1st Music Video Collection & The History.”

Following the DVD release, the band will hold a meet-and-greet with fans at the Ryokoku Kokikan ― a sports arena known to host sumo events ― in Tokyo on Dec. 8.

Korean reporters , American music site “American Music Channel” and otherswere in attendance. The Interview was with 11 SM Entertainment singers, BoA, former H.O.T member Kangta, DBSK’s Yunho and Changmin, Super Junior’s Leeteuk and Siwon, SNSD’s Sooyoung and Tiffany, SHINee’s Onew and Minho, and TREX[sic] member Jay.




—About their performance at the famous Los Angeles Staples Center

BoA: Ever since I heard about it, I’ve been really excited. It’s the first time we are able to perform together at a place like this, so it makes me all the more happy.

Kangta: When I was performing with my group H.O.T we weren’t given this chance, so I’m happy I get to stand on this wonderful stage with my juniors. I’m nervous and worried, but more than that I’m looking forward to it and am happy I can perform here.




—The fact most in the audience are not Korean-Americans, it seems this has a big significance.

Yunho: We are able to make our culture widely known. Still, the fact that various people from different countries have an interest (in us), makes me very happy.

Leeteuk: I feel very happy and honored. Since there are fans all over the world cheering for us, from now on I feel like I need to do my best even more.




—How did you feel about meeting the fans at the airport?

Changmin: I honestly wasn’t expecting it.I could even see the crowd of people who came to see us from a distance. Our languages are different. Since they don’t really have a chance to get to know us, I was really surprised, but I was also grateful that they came to welcome us.

Onew: I was concerned and thought to myself, “I wonder what it will be like when we arrive in America”, but (when we arrived) I was happy that so many fans came to see us. I hope they continue cheering for us after this too.




—SNSD has just completed a successful debut in Japan, but do you plan on advancing to America?

Tiffany: I want to do activities in America as well. Personally, I also want to try acting. I have various anticipations for overseas activities. I feel that music is a common language throughout the world.

Siwon: All of us have a dream that, if given the chance, we would like to try advancing to America.

4minute's Kwon Sohyun and SHINee's Onew have risen to the top in a recent game for a Chuseok special to decide the strongest idols in games.

MBC Chuseok Special 2010 Youth Alggagi, which aired the morning of the 23rd, were found to be the winners of the competitions after competing with other males and females.

In the finals, SHINee's Onew competed against Super Junior's EunHyuk while 4minute's Sohyun went head to head with f(x)'s Luna, with Onew and Sohyun placing first.

The game consisted of flicking small round game pieces with one's finger at the opponent's pieces, hoping to knock them off the board without your own piece falling. Sohyun and Onew proved to be the masters of the game, showing their smarts and charms.

YGE Uploads 2NE1 Inkigayo Perfs on Youtube; You Know, the Ones that Keep Getting Deleted

I’m sure many international fans have been getting frustrated with YouTube deleting performances by their favorite K-pop artists due to copyright issues.

There would be performances uploaded the day the stage was performed, but it would be deleted a few days later, giving you no chance to watch them again. For videos that you were successful in finding, it would be low-quality images that you had hard time seeing comfortably.

Well, one of K-pop’s biggest agencies, YG Entertainment, is finally doing something about this issue.

YGE has uploaded 2NE1’s first three comeback performances on Inkigayo into 2NE1’s YouTube channel. Unlike the low-quality performance videos you have regularly seen, these are all high-quality (HD) videos.

T-ara's Jiyeon and upcoming mixed group, Co.ed's Hyoyoung, who both will be appearing on KBS1TV 8-episode drama, "Jungle Fish 2" revealed images taken on set.

Although they are the same age, it would make most people think they are rivals to each other, but they are not. After Hyoyoung joined Core Contents Media, Jiyeon and Hyoyoung have already become close friends.

Hyoyoung said, "I frequently meet with Jiyeon when we both have days off. We like to eat, hang out and listen to music.. and share our personal stories. We have a lot of fun. It's good we are the same age and I think that Jiyeon is brilliant and a very hard working, I want to strive to be like her in the future."

Both Jiyeon and Hyoyoung play characters who are in the top 3% honors in Korea. Jiyeon hides her stress and twisted family while she is at school, but when she comes home it becomes dramatic. Hyoyoung's character may seem like a good student, but she is always in a rivalry and arguing with someone.

Meanwhile, Co.ed's debut title track music video will be premiering on the 27th at the Samsung Megabox in 3D. They're currently practicing dance very hard. In addition, T-ara's 2nd album is being prepared and all the members are busy with personal activities.
