Korean Indie group C.N. Blue (Code Name Blue), which debuted in Japan, is back with their 2nd Japanese minialbum.
Hailed as the 2nd FT Island as they are from the same company F&C Music, the group has recently become more known due to member Jung YoungHwa’s appearance in SBS Drama ‘You’re Beautiful’.
And on 25th November, they released their 2nd Japanese minialbum ‘Voice’, after their debut album ‘Now or Never’ released in previously in August.

Ministry of Gender Equality set for expansion

The government and the ruling party agreed Sunday to push for the expansion of the Ministry of Gender Equality's jurisdiction to emphasize the importance of women and childcare-oriented policies, the Yonhap News said.

Following a policy consultation meeting with the government, a ranking lawmaker of the ruling Grand National Party said that the MOGE will take over jurisdiction of government policies on family, youth, childcare and multicultural family affairs from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, starting next year.

The MOGE is currently in charge of formulating and implementing gender-related policies and enhancing women's status and rights in society.

With the inauguration of the Lee Myung-bak government in early 2008, the MOGE lost its family and youth affair jurisdiction to the health ministry. But the upcoming reorganization agreed upon at the government-GNP policy meeting is expected to heighten the status of the MOGE, officials said.

Wonder Girls arrive in Shanghai!

With immense popularity acquired from the hit song” Nobody”, South Korean quintets the Wonder Girls (Min Sunye, Park Ye Eun, Sunmi, Ahn Sohee, Kim Yubin), arrived at the Shanghai airport earlier today. The security were already well prepared to welcome the girls’ arrival. However, judging from the state, the number of fans turned up at the airport were minimal. The number of bodyguards were more than the fans turned up at the airport. Just like an classic instance of “Song popular but not the artistes” example.

Kim HyunJoong and SooAe casted for upcoming movie ‘You Are My Pet’

Actress SooAe and SS501 Kim HyunJoong will meet in a movie.

A movie staff said on 30th November, “SooAe and Kim HyunJoong has been casted for the movie ‘You are my pet’ as the female and male leader characters. The movie will be directed by Kim ByungGon.”

The movie is about an episode of a beautiful and talent fashion magazine editor’s ‘cohabitation with a pretty boy. SooAe will be playing the fashion magazine editor and Kim HyunJoong will be the ‘pet’ flower boy.

Kim HyunJoong’s agency said, “We have not finished the process of signing the contract. But we will confirmed everything by middle of the year.”

The movie is an adaptation of 10-part Japanese anime aired in 2003. This will be Kim HyunJoong’s next acting attempt after ‘Boys Over Flowers’ earlier this year.
Tentatively the movie is set to air in 2010.

Hero struggles to gain ground

Now in its second week, MBC’s Hero is facing a tough road with very low ratings even as viewers are praising the drama.

The low numbers are somewhat understandable this week, since IRIS is going strong and You’re Beautiful went out on a high note with an 11.9%. Considering that it entered this three-way fray at the very end, it would have been surprising if Hero drew high numbers. Still, its 3.9% rating for Thursday’s broadcast has to hurt. (Its ratings have been on a downward trend, starting with a 5.4%, followed by a 4.9%, 4.4%, and then the 3.9%.)

Lee Junki has drawn positive criticism for his acting, but contrary to expectations, his name recognition has not had the desired effect. A source with the drama said, “Because the dramas on the other stations are strong, we had expected the early portion to face difficulty. We think that because the plot is entertaining and the acting is good, after You’re Beautiful ends, the viewer ratings will gradually rise.”

On the other hand, the viewers who are watching are responding very positively. Lee Junki’s romantic storyline with Yoon So-yi is starting to develop, as is the battle between top-tier newspaper Daese Ilbo versus Lee Junki’s team of underdogs at Yongdeok Ilbo.

Next week’s ratings should be the determining factor to whether Hero sinks or swims. Unfortunately, I don’t think things look good for the production. On the upside, I did feel a cautious optimism about its story after watching the first two episodes, and hear that things improve afterward.
