"Some might laugh, but my role model is Leonardo Da Vinci. One of my favorite teachers gave me a book 'Think Like Da Vinci.' I was influenced by it. Reading the book made me realize that even if we're not geniuses and have our shortcomings, we can still accomplish a lot in our lives. This gave me more confidence," she said in a press conference at the gallery last week.

Bundang Police chief Han Pyung-hyeon said Sunday that an arrest warrant has been issued for the former manager of the late actress Jang Ja-yeon at the police station south of Seoul. Police have yet to identify the list of VIPs the actress was allegedly forced to have sex with.

An arrest warrant was sought Sunday for the head of the late actress Jang Ja-yeon's former agency on charges of intimidation and violence, embezzlement and fleeing to avoid police questioning.

But the warrant request does not include his alleged coercion of Jang into providing sexual services to corporate and media heavyweights. Police said the probe period since his extradition from Japan to Korea Friday was too short, adding they will intensify their investigation into the allegation once the warrant is issued.

The 40-year-old agent, Kim Sung-hoon, had been hiding in Japan since December. Jang committed suicide in March, claiming in a suicide note that he forced her to provide sex and entertainment to influential showbiz figures.

"So far, he claims that there were many events with drinking for his business, and that Jang voluntarily accompanied him to several functions. We'll focus on probing the forced sex allegations after the warrant is issued," police officer Han Pyung-hyeon at the Bundang Police Office said.

Ariel Lin, who is slated to release her first album on the 10th of this month, was filming her MV with popular Korean group Super Junior’s Donghae and Siwon earlier this month. When news of this spread, not only has inquiries about this song risen to a new high, preorders of her album have gone up accordingly as well.

This led Ariel to happily exclaim; “I can’t wait to share my music world with everyone!”

It was the beginning of the final stop for their National tour, and it is their first time performing there since their debut (in Japan) 4 years ago. Nearly three out of every 10 South Korean adults do not read one single book the whole year, a government survey showed Friday, indicating a growing number of people are choosing other interests such as Web surfing and watching TV over reading, Yonhap News reported.

Some 72 percent of adults read at least one book each year, according to the culture ministry's survey of 1,000 men and women nationwide, a continuing decrease from the 77 percent in 1996 and 76 percent in 2007.

The surveyed people read an average of 12 books a year and spent about 30 minutes a day on reading, a sharp contrast to Europeans who read at least 25 books per year according to recent polls, the culture ministry said.

Reading was the fourth most popular leisure activity among adults while watching television topped the list followed by Web surfing and exercising, said the ministry. South Korean adults favored novels followed by self-help books, it noted.

Super Junior's leader Leeteuk had revealed that there is a rule among SJ members that they cant like the others' favorite female celebrities.

On the show SBS "Yashimmanman 2" which was aired on July 6th, SJ members Leeteuk, Kangin, Yesung, Eunhyuk had explained about that rule and also, talked about their ideal girl type.

Yesung's ideal type is Moon Geun Young, Eunhyuk's ideal type is Choi Jung Won, Kangin said he liked Jeon Ji Hyun so much that the other members even called her "sister-in-law" among them.

Kangin's such a Jeon Ji Hyun, it's kinda cute, and I had to remind myself that Moon Geun Young is actually in her 20's and not 12 because she's always gonna have a baby face (and I'm hoping she's put on some weight since the last time we saw pictures of her). A recent survey of entertainers found that one out of five actresses was forced to provide sexual entertainment to influential figures or witnessed their colleagues forced to do so.

This indicates the late actress Jang Ja-yeon, who committed suicide in March because of her coerced involvement in "casting couch" favors - a situation in which actresses are forced or expected to have sex with influential figures in order to get work in films or on TV - was not an isolated victim in the entertainment industry.

The first survey of its kind was conducted by a union for entertainers, headed by actor Kim Eung-seok, in April, one month after Jang was found dead in what was ruled suicide.

The results are based on 183 respondents out of nearly 2,000 entertainers who were asked to take part in the survey - the remainder declined to answer.

Of the 183, 19.1 percent said they were either forced to have sex with influential figures or witnessed their colleagues being coerced to do so.

About 25 percent also said they were "directly" asked to pay money in exchange for media exposure or experienced behavior infringing upon their human rights, while 68.2 percent said they witnessed or have information about similar cases involving their colleagues.

According to the union, the respondents gave the names of producers and executives of TV stations, writers, politicians, and business and entertainment heavyweights who were involved, but it refused to make them public.

Of the respondents, 62.3 percent said they faced disadvantages for refusing such demands.

Casting couch stays strong in South Korea...

Micro-miniskirts may be pleasing on the eye to some, but they're not going down so well in the workplace, a survey revealed Monday.

Revealing clothes that show off too much leg or cleavage and women staggering in "killer heels" are among some of the "eyesores" ranked by respondents to a poll run by job portal site www.career.co.kr.

In the survey of 1,254 workers, about 74 percent said they felt upset with their co-workers' attire. Around 56 percent of them cited micro-miniskirts, or a skirt eight to 10 inches above the knee, as their chief complaint.

Shirts showing cleavage, low-rise pants that reveal underwear when bending over, "killer heels" that exceed 10 centimeters, or outfits that are too flashy were others offered in reference to females.

Stains on shirts made up the lion's share ㅡ at 48.4 percent ㅡ among problems identified among men.

Wearing colorful underwear underneath a white shirt, slippers or sandals and sleeveless clothes to work all raised the frowns of co-workers, the survey said.

But few dare to mention their qualms those who commit a work apparel faux pas.

About 58.2 percent said they just tolerate it, while 18.5 percent said they talk about it behind the person's back. Only 12.5 percent shared their feelings with the individuals concerned, the survey added.

The Supreme Court Monday turned down an appellate court's ruling that put on hold the import of vibrators, saying they don't challenge sexual morality or human dignity.

The court sent the case back to the appellate court for a review, with the final ruling expected late this month.

In 2007, an unidentified company importing penis-shaped vibrators filed the suit against the customs office at Incheon International Airport after the customs clearance for the imports was put on hold. The customs office has claimed the "obscene" products provoke sexual desires and undermine sexual morality and human dignity.

"The products are shaped like a penis. But it's different from real ones in size and detail so it's unacceptable that they apparently provoke sexual desires of lay people at a glance, humiliate people, and undermine human dignity," the top court said in a ruling statement.

A provincial court said the products are not obscene, citing the traditional practice of carving huge stones in the shape of a penis and installing them near gateways of villages, a shamanism belief that such sculptures would invite prosperity and many children. But the appellate court overturned the verdict.

A sex shop owner said most sex-support devices, including vibrators, are currently imported "through unofficial channels," but refused to elaborate further.

With the airing of SBS Swallow the Sun starting in less than 2 days time, it was revealed today that 1 of the production staff has been hit by the H1N1 virus.

According to SBS, several members of the production team including the cast have shown symptoms related to the H1N1 virus. Besides the one confirmed case, 2 others are now being placed under observation. In addition, actor Lee Wan has developed a fever, one of the many H1N1-related symptoms. There's a possibility that the entire production might be shut down temporarily to prevent the virus from spreading any further.

Action drama, Swallow the Sun has been receiving much attention for having a strong cast, being the sequel to All-in and the first Korean drama to be filmed in South Africa. The entire production had just returned to Korea after 3 weeks of overseas filming in Las Vegas, America. With the drama premiering on 8th July, hopefully there's enough footage to get around in the coming weeks should there be a shutdown.

A new girlgroup groomed by ShinHwa Eric will debut this year end.

Singer, actor, fashion designer, entertainment company CEO, and all-around entertainer Rain is said to be eyeing a return to broadcast television later this year.

According to a rep from Rain’s company J.Tune Entertainment, the star has been looking favorably at several proposals for drama roles, and plans to make his final decision soon. One possibility is with a project whose writer made the suggestion directly to the star himself, and as they are close friends, Rain is said to be considering that role seriously. His rep said, “It’s true that he’s looking more positively on a drama role rather than a film.”

Rain had at one point decided to make his television comeback last year, but development fizzled on the project. This would be his first drama in four years, following 2005’s revenge series A Love to Kill. He’s done several films in the interim — I’m a Cyborg But That’s Okay, Speed Racer, Ninja Assassin — but arguably hasn’t been able to reclaim the visibility he’d enjoyed at his peak, around the time of his incredibly popular 2004 trendy drama Full House co-starring Song Hye-gyo and his third album (”It’s Raining”).

(Personally, I think his somewhat haphazard approach to breaking into the American market set him back quite a bit. Without the proper organization and strategic planning required for such a huge undertaking, his career screeched to a halt back home as he dropped out of the spotlight for several years — eons in showbiz time. I think Rain is a decent actor, particularly with his roles in Sangdoo, Let’s Go to School and I’m a Cyborg But That’s Okay, so if this drama thing ends up happening, I’ll be looking forward to it.)

Rain left Korea on July 6 for U.S. promotional activities for Ninja Assassin, which will have its worldwide premiere on November 25. Following his return to Korea, he’ll hold a fanmeeting on the 26th.

[TV Report]On the KBS2 Morning Live episode with Ji & Choi that aired Thursday, actress No Hyeon-hee came clean regarding rumors about her plastic surgery.

MC Ji Seok-jin first mentioned the abundance of online postings critical of her post-surgery appearance and she agreed.

Female 6-member group T-ara's debut profile has been revealed. They are the group 3 years in the making under Mnet company.

And members consist of existing JiYeon (who is also reaching much love as part of project group with SeeYa and Davichi), EunJung, HyoMin; and also new members BoRam, QRi and SoYeon.

And the concept revealed recently is something different from before - this time the girls showed off a strong image. The teaser revealed on the 3rd showed the girls with all the same golden wavy locks, while the one revealed on the 6th showed them with an innocent and pure image.

Mnet said, “This new image uses black and white concept and the girls had on spangles and stockings. And their makeup is not too extremely outstanding, giving out a strong image.”

The girls will release their debut song mid-July and start going on broadcast activities from August.

Yoo Dong Geun tried to matchmake Lee Yeon Hee and Song Seung Hun

Veteran actor, Yoo Dong Geun made a surprise relevation recently that he had tried to matchmake Song Seung Hun and Lee Yeon Hee during the filming of MBC's East of Eden earlier in the year. Coincidentally, Yoo Dong Geun was the father of Lee Yeon Hee's character in East of Eden while Song Seung Hun romanced Yeon Hee. This relevation came about on MBC talkshow, Come to Play which will be aired tonight in Korea where Yoo Dong Geun was one of the guests alongside Jo Min Ki, Jung Tae Woo and Im Ho in a King's Special (all of them was king/emperor at least once in dramas).

Yoo Dong Geun said during the show, "I couldn't help but tried to matchmake the both of them (Song Seung Hun, Lee Yeon Hee) because they looked really compatible with each other." He also revealed that he had tried to sound out Yeon Hee about Song Seung Hun during a conversation, "Don't you find Seung Hun to be very handsome? If you managed to grab him, your life will become very beautiful." Yoo Dong Geun revealed that Yeon Hee did not show any dislike on her face at all and he said, "It would be great if that happened." All the staff around them were shocked to hear him say that.

Yoo Dong Geun then went over to Song Seung Hun and said, "If you manage to woo Yeon Hee now, your life will become a real success." But Song Seung Hun rejected the idea saying that it would be too great of an expectation. Yoo Dong Geun finished by saying, "I thought that it would be really great if they were really together because of their reactions. So I kept trying to matchmake them from the side continously."

During the days when East of Eden were on air, rumors were flying around that Lee Yeon Hee (21) and Song Seung Hun (32) were dating on and off screen although both of them denied in separate statements that they were[n't] as they were very busy.

According to Hanteo charts, SNSD's second mini album has sold nearly 40,000 copies within a week of its release, drawing closer to the possibility of three consecutive albums selling over 100,000. It is an incredibly rare feat for a girl group to sell 40,000 albums within a week. When additionally taken into consideration the fact that SNSD's first mini album Gee took over the first half of the year by selling 24,000 copies in their first week, you can easily guess the immense popularity of this group.
