Ivy Watches Cho Won-seon's Concert with Her Boyfriend

Singer Ivy, 27 (real name Park Eun-hye), drew the spotlight at a recent concert of Cho Won-seon, which she went to see with her boyfriend, songwriter Kim Tae-sung. A concert official said the two were invited to the concert by the performance team and looked like a very affectionate couple. They even politely turned down an offer to wait in the waiting room and entered the concert venue along with other audience members.

Ivy suspended her singing career after her former boyfriend threatened in November 2007 to disclose an intimate video of her. In January this year she disclosed her relationship with Kim Tae-sung.

Cho Won-seon's concert marked the release of her first solo album. It was held June 19-20 at the Performance Art Center in Daehakno. Guest-performers included Yoon Sang, Yoo Hee-yeol and Kim Dong-ryul. Actor Lee Seon-kyun and his wife Jun Hye-jin, who are close friends with Yoon Sang, also attended the concert.

Cho Won-seon plans to continue her activities with the song "Nobody, Nothing" from her first album, which she performs in a duet with Yoon Sang.

CSJH The Grace, also known as TSZX, are preparing for their comeback this year. While the plans for it being a Korean comeback or a Japanese comeback is still up in the air, Korean Shapleys have been notified that all four members (including Stephanie!) are currently working hard for a comeback in the second half of 2009.

Stephanie's back was injured late 2008, which forced her to withdraw from promotion activities for their Japanese mini-album Dear, but fans are saying that she injured her ankle in the United States, and thus postponed any future plans of an earlier comeback.

Meanwhile, DANA from CSJH will be holding a birthday party on the July 19th.

In other news, the schedule for SMTOWN concert that was announced earlier for August 16th, 2009 has been tentatively removed. A representative from SM confirms that the date is still in negotiation.

Wheesung Changes Agencies

Wheesung's moving on to a different company. Wheesung will be joining POP/UP Entertainment, which houses great artists like M to M and Kim Dong Wook.

So why the sudden change? Well, former producer, Park Gun Tae, concentrated more on producing and working by himself. However, Wheesung's transferring of companies is not one of bitter feelings, but rather one of bittersweet emotions. He gives thanks to Park Gun Tae for his growth as an artists and hopes to learn from him as a little brother, no longer as an artist under a producer.

After rocking out a concert with Lena Park in LA last weekend, singer Wheesung, has revealed he will be staying there for another tentative 2 months. While in LA, he will be working with former Deux member turned producer, Lee Hyun Do. He hopes to drop an album some time in August, returning back to his musical roots. He hopes to return to the sounds of his past hits like "Incurable Disease" but with a more modern, hip hop twist.

Seo Woo takes on a Lolita role in Paju

I guess the sexy schoolgirl is never going out of style, but the plot of the upcoming melodrama/romance film Paju [파주] seems like it may have an interesting take.

Seo Woo (who won some awards for best new actress at the end of last year for her role in Crush and Blush) takes the lead as a “provocative and outrageous” student who falls in love with her older sister’s boyfriend, played by Lee Seon-kyun (Coffee Prince, Triple). This is complicated by the fact that she also suspects the boyfriend of foul play, as he’s the only one who knows the secret behind her sister’s death.

The 21-year-old Seo Woo plays ages spanning from middle through high school, and portrays a mix of innocent and provocative appeal. Her character first meets Lee Seon-kyun’s when he is brought in as her tutor, and he begins dating her sister. After her sister dies, she becomes closer to him and eventually falls in love with him.

Paju is directed by Park Chan-ok of Warm Swamp (2004) and Jealousy Is My Middle Name (2002). The film is currently in post-production and will release in the fall.

On the June 26th special episode of Music Bank, among other Special Stages, we'll be getting a performance of Gee from 2PM, 2AM, SHINee, and Super Junior. There's no news on whether or not this will be a Wonder Boys type thing, with boys from each group creating a nine member super group, but it seems likely, especially since the article on Bestiz called it "소년시대". Boys Generation, anyone?

The episode will air on Friday, 6:30pm KST.

MBC Ilbam's new corner "Oppa band" has become a long-term project.

One person from the show's production team said "Firstly, they'll have to improve their instruments playing skill and write songs that attract people. We've planned to make an album with those songs, also let them appear on Music core and other music shows, as well as there might be a national tour"

He also said "Although there is Yoo Youngseok who is capable of writing songs and mainly do it but every members of the band will have their own chance to show their ability of working to make songs"

After releasing an album back in September of 2007, Tiger JK is returning to the scene with Drunken Tiger’s 8th album, ‘Feel gHood Muzik: the 8th wonder’.

On June 23rd, Tiger JK revealed the track list for Drunken Tiger’s 8th album on his homepage which includes a total of 27 tracks divided into two CD’s. The first disc titled the ‘Feel Good Side’ was catered more to the taste of mainstream so those that are listening to the music of Drunken Tiger for the first time can easily take in the the alluring charm of Hip Hop, while the second disc titled the ‘Feel Hood Side’ is catered more for the Hip Hop manias.

Tiger JK revealed that he wanted to offer his fans music, different from all the “instant” pop that is being released left and right these days. He chose to stray from the popular trend of music in Korea and stick with his own style that he’s been standing behind all these years in order to express just how serious he is about the music he creates. The surprise announcement of Drunken Tiger’s 8th album has already gotten fans pumped but he’s keeping them on the edge of their seats by not revealing the featuring artists or staff outside of Korea that have participated in the album, just yet. The list of featuring artists and staff will also be revealed on his homepage this coming June 24th at 3pm, Korea time.

Drunken Tiger’s 8th album will be released on June 29th along with a tvN cable program titled ‘A Look at a Star’ which will show the behind story of the making of Drunken Tiger’s 8th album. So, it looks like Tiger JK really is planning to face DJ Shine on stage, face to face after all.

This year is considered an especially important year for SHINee. While trying to continue to develop and grow as artists down the road, Onew, Jonghyun, Minho, and Key also need to go to college. Having to balance both school work and singer activities, this will be an intense year for them. Maknae Taemin also has to take time out in order to film his sitcom, "Tae Hee, Hye Kyo, Ji Hyun".

Down with leg injury, member KiBum will not be participating for Super Junior concert

Super Junior KiBum has been known to have injured his legs and will not be participating for Super Junior’s concert opening in July.

It was known that KiBum has fell down while exercising on 13th June and had to receive treatment for 6 weeks. His injured left leg will also have to be in a cast.

2NE1 will release a new song for this summer.

The actress was originally cast to be the female lead in the upcoming MBC special drama, “Gesture“, set to air this coming September 5th, but was immediately kicked to the curb once she went public about her relationship. MBC, however, released an official statement on the 23rd stating that any published news regarding Lee Si-young being officially cast as the female lead in the drama were, in fact, not true.

One representative of MBC stated,

"Since no contract was signed at the time, it is always possible to change the cast. However, it is true that script writer Lim Sung-han did have Lee Si-young in mind for the main female role. But it has been decided that due to the public and media’s extensive interest and talk (rumors) about the actress, could affect the drama in a negative way. Hence, the reason we have decided not to cast the actress in our upcoming drama."

Another anonymous representative also stated that aside from being dropped from the MBC drama, a certain brand is reconsidering its decision to contract her as their main CF model. As a newbie actress in the industry, Lee Si-young being dropped from numerous gigs like this will have a negative effect on her career in the future. Looks like not all actresses benefit from their relationship with a well-known celebrity, like Park Shi-yeon and Amy did from their relationship with ShinHwa’s Eric and Lee Min-woo.

It’s sad that she seems to be taking all the hard blows from having a relationship with JunJin. Big Bang is up #4 on Oricon chart with debut single released

Group Big Bang has went up to #4 on Oricon chart on 24th June with the release of their debut Japanese single.

Their 1st Japanese single ‘My Heaven’ is also simultaneously released in China, HongKong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia. ‘My Heaven’ is the collaborate composition between member GDragon and Daishi Dance.

For their Japanese debut this time, Big Bang also worked with Universal Japan as their artiste, and about a month back they have also become more active in promoting in Japan.

Kim Sung-hoon, head of the late actress Jang Ja-yeon's former management agency, was arrested in Japan, police said Wednesday.

Kim had been placed on a wanted list on suspicions of forcing up-and-coming actresses, including Jang, to provide sexual favors to showbiz and media VIPs.

Gyeonggi Province police said Japanese officers who had been tipped off about his presence apprehended the 42-year-old at a hotel that afternoon.

Canada has granted refugee status to a mentally ill South Korean woman and her daughter on grounds the treatment of psychiatric patients and family members in their homeland is so shoddy it amounts to persecution, the Vancouver Sun reported last week.

According to the newspaper, Oh Mi-sook, 42, initially sought refugee status in Canada by claiming she had been persecuted in her native South Korea by a church representative who had "poisoned everyone against her" and had been arrested and held three times against her will.

Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board determined she was, in fact, persecuted ― not by a church representative, but by a South Korean health care system that mistreats mentally ill patients.
