Han Ji Hye takes on shoe design

She’s known for having a flair for fashion, and she rocks the red carpet more often than not. Now actress Han Ji-hye, like fellow fashion dabblers Rain and Yoon Eun-hye, is trying her hand — er, foot? — at fashion design. Shoe design, to be exact.

Just coming off the popular melodrama East of Eden, Han Ji-hye will be joining with fashion shoe brand “Jinny Kim” to create a look to appeal to the 20- and 30-something young-’n'-stylish set. Han explains, “I always enjoy taking on new challenges. I admit that the process of learning something new from the bottom up is a little beyond me, but I’m enjoying learning day by day.”

Moon Chae Won's Life Is Beautiful

Don’t know this face? You’ll probably be seeing a lot more of it in the future. Moon Chae-won is following up her breakthrough role as Moon Geun-young’s same-sex love interest in last year’s Painter of the Wind with a new leading role in an SBS drama, Life is Beautiful.

Although this is a weekend series, which are typically aimed more for an older or family crowd (as opposed to the trendier fare on Monday through Thursday), Life Is Beautiful depicts the love lives of young twentysomethings and focuses its main love triangle around Moon (who plays a resilient young woman who grew up in difficult circumstances with a stepmother), singer-actor Lee Seung-gi (Happy Sunday), and Han Hyo-joo (Iljimae).

Moon Chae-won is the newest face of the main cast but, as with fellow newcomers Lee Min-ho and Park Bo-young (both of whom she’s co-starred with, in Run! Mackerel and Our School E.T.), she has experienced a sharp rise in visibility in the last half-year. I don’t think she’s as solid an actor as the other two yet, but expect Moon, Lee, and Park to form the vanguard of the new wave of rising stars.

Life Is Beautiful premieres at the end of April following Family Honor.

Hyori announces plans for 4th album

Everyone’s favourite diva Family Outing unni/noona has today announced that she is already in preparations for a 4th album. A little impatient we see?

After an explosive first round of solo concerts, Hyori can’t wait to get her clock gears moving again. With the ever changing K-pop trends, her anxiety is totally explainable especially with Hyori-wannabe Sori on the scene. Maybe the latter’s actually made an impact?

Hyori had initially given herself a break until making a guest appearance at Lee Seung Hwan’s benefit concert. She spent her down-time straightening out the upcoming hectic schedule for her 4th album due around September. If everything goes as planned, it will be the first time Hyori releases two full albums in two consecutive years.

While you start wondering what might be up the sleeves of a diva who has hit 30,(  let’s be good samaritans and reminisce a little before we forget about her.  )

Japan is shaken up from the visits of hallyu stars.

There are many Japanese visiting Akita-hyun (the site where drama IRIS is being filmed) to see Lee Byunghun, Kim Taehee and more. They have booked the hotels around the filming site, so much that Yang Hyunsuk from YG entertainment is having trouble finding a room.

The first take of IRIS has begun on 10th, and Japanese fans have been around the hotels and filming site to see the faces of their favorite stars.

Japanese Broadcasting stations are also eyeing the steps of these stars.

The interest will be heightened when TOP of Big Bang joins the crew on 17th. Previous hallyu stars have been famous among the ah-joom-ma’s, it is highly predicted that TOP will bring the fans of younger ages. Because Big Bang has released albums in Japan, people are already feeling the vibe of new hallyu star.

The filming of IRIS will take around 3 weeks; there will be dating scenes of Lee Byunghun and Kim Taehee (will appear as a couple in the drama), and there are action scenes to be filmed.

IRIS is the first-ever-drama to try a spy,action thriller in tv drama- it deals with the conflict between assassination of North Korea leader and government groups. It will be aired around September through KBS.

SM Ent 2008 Revenue, The Highest One In SM History

SM Ent booked 2008 revenue by 43,400,000,000 won. Compared to their last net income, it's a 42 times increasing. This is the largest the company ever recorded ever since SM's revenue and net profit record firstly established.

This high increasing is due to the successful debut of their new artists, SNSD and SHINee while their top groups Dong Bang Shin Ki and Super Junior also made a increasing revenue in their local activities.

Meanwhile conversion factor is also one of the biggest contribute factors as there were many overseas activities made by Dong Bang Shin Ki, Super Junior, and other SM artists whose royalty income was paid by foreign currencies. Royalty income was increased by U.S dollars exchange and the recent rise in Yen's exchange rate definitely added up the result as well.

Yoona's Campus Life, "I'll Do My Best!"

Recently, pictures of Yoona attending her classes and appearing on campus has been brought up as a hot topic of discussion.

SNSD's Yoona was accepted to the Theatrical Division at Dong Gook University this year.
And pictures of Yoona patiently waiting for her lecture has been uploaded on various websites.

Currently Yoona's schedule is filled with performances of the relentlessly famous 'Gee', and also with the shooting of MBC Wed/Thursday drama, 'Cinderella Man'; however Yoona is still seen attending her classes.

On the 12th, SM Entertainment stated that, "Even though she is busy with overwhelming amounts of schedules and has a hard time keeping up with school, Yoona still tries to attend her classes daily."

On the other hand, an Online Portal Site, D.C. Inside conducted a poll (during the period Feb. 24th ~ Mar. 3rd) on the question of 'Which of the celebrity freshmen starting college/university this year, would probably do the best?'

The results pronounced Yoona as #1, with 3178 votes of 8920while 2nd place went to G-Dragon of Big Bang and 3rd place went to Sunye of Wonder Girls.

Jang Ja Yeon’s Family Speaks Out And Manager Disappears

Jang Ja Yeon’s family have started speaking out at the frenzied speculation about her death. Several days ago, Jang Ja Yeon’s family asked for the media to cease publication of speculative articles on the suicide.

“We are thankful for everyone’s attention and support; thanks to everyone we were able to hold a respectable funeral. However, the rumours about Ja Yeon’s death pains us greatly and so I have penned this to ask you all to stop.

“She always had pride in what she did from her debut in 2006. She had a bright personality and loved her work… Especially because of Boys over Flowers since she managed to connect with other actors and television audiences. She always had a bright smile on her face [because of BoF].

“I hope that speculators will now stop spreading rumors about Ja Yeon. We speak especially to her management agency… who have a lot of weight on their words… who have hurt the family so much.

“Whatever issues the agency has, secret testaments or whatever, it doesn’t change the fact that our Ja Yeon has left this world… I beg you, please, don’t take your speculation and rumors to darken Ja Yeon’s memory”

Now her sister has waded into the argument. She has now asked the police not to reopen the investigation into her death. A police spokesman for the case confirmed that on the evening of the 10th, “the victim’s sister did call the station and asked why the police would want to re investigate the circumstances of someone who has already passed on” and said that the plan “honor whatever requests the family has” as much as they can.

However, when asked about the now infamous “hidden testament” revealed by Ja Yeon’s manager, the police have not ruled out re investigating her death if such a document is brought to them.

“We have tried to confirm the existence of the document by attempting to contact the current holder, Yoo Mo, but he is currently not taking any phone calls from us. We will have to assume that the incident was indeed suicide and we plan decide on how to proceed early next week.

At the time of writing, Jang Ja Yeon’s ex-manager Yoo Mo (who began the speculation and claims to be in possession of the secret diary) has not been seen since speaking out to the press several days ago. Why has he suddenly disappeared off the face of the Earth?

After School's leader to go solo. After School is now leader-less and future-less

Some leader she is. Park Ga Hee, arguably the best thing about the girl group After School (and the best thing to ever happen to DBSK’s Yoochun), is planning for solo activities soon. There’s been a lot of activity within the After School group. First Son Dam Bi was supposed to be in it, then it became just After School and now the leader bails for a solo career.

There are no specifics yet, concerning what she plans to do with her solo career, but her management, Pledis Entertainment, has announced her plans for solo endeavors. Will she be the next Lee Hyori?

Bin and Lee Kyu Han take bite out of BOF pie

Caring is sharing, isn’t it? Well the entire production has been very charitable up to this point and they are extending their magical F4 ring of aura around two more stars.

With promises of including yet more artists on their second OST, B-list actors Bin and Lee Kyu Han have jumped on the bandwagon and will be appearing in Someday’s MV for “알고있나요 (Do You Know)”. Bin, who is well-versed in gymnastics, will play a ballerina and Lee Kyu Han takes on the role of building security. Another tear-jerker, this MV will tell the story of an impossible love between ballerina and security guard. Wonder how this recycled theme is going to play out…

The song appears on the first OST and has been an insert song for past episodes. Check out behind-the-scenes footage for the MV filming and Someday’s song if you haven’t heard it already.
