Tablo Says New Epik High Album Is 95% Done

As seasons (in the Northern Hemisphere) change from summer to autumn, Tablo gave a small update about Epik High’s long-awaited comeback.

A couple of days ago, Tablo had revealed simply that the group’s ninth album as “95 percent” complete.

Late night on September 18 KST, Tablo shared a little more about how far along Epik High’s upcoming album is, stating, “In terms of recording, we just need to complete one more song.”

He also explained, “At the same time, we’re currently in the process of mixing, but it’s more complicated than before because there are a few unusual tracks and a variety of vocal colors from the people who are featuring [in this album].

“Most likely, knowing my personality, I will be working until the night before the album is released on music sites. I’m sorry that there has not been a lot of news about us three, but I’ll give little hints when I have spare time.”

Epik High previously confirmed that they were working towards a fall release, and that IU will be one of the featuring artists. This upcoming album will mark their first in three years since their 2014 full-length album “Shoebox.”

Other than Dear TV, I feel like almost every release with YGE has been less than stellar.

MTE. I've been a fan of all their stuff up until they released something under YG. Like, instant quality drop in production and composition. I can only hope their new stuff sounds better than their previous 2 releases, but as long as they're under YG it's still 50/50 tbh.

My biggest issue was how they had to do that YGE sound to fit in with the YGE rappers they featured and it just made it sound like some kind of jacked up aesthetic that had nothing to do with Epik High.

I heard they moved to a sub-label within YGE so maybe that means less unnecessary YGE features.

That's a good way to put it. I mean, I still remember my reaction when they released "Don't Hate Me", like I literally hated the concept and the sound lmao. It was like YG stripped away everything that was unique about them and made them their product.

Ahh I didn't know that. Agreed, I hope that means less YG interference.

i see quite a few comments about yg influence and while i keep ignoring existence of-that-one-album i gotta say that shoebox is actually great tho. i still blast burj khalifa because it hypes me up lol. also amor fati left a lasting impression. i even bought that album and both packaging & commentary cd were amazing.
i hope this album is worth the wait. they were talking about it being 90% done since 2015 but then ... it never happened. they also kept rerecording and changing sound for that upcoming album so at this point i don't even know what to expect lol.
