Four Teenage Female students brutally attacked another student in Busan Friday, resulting in the hospitalization of the victim. The attackers stand accused of hitting the victim with construction materials [i.e: mental pipes], glass bottles, chairs on over a hundred counts, and burned her with cigarettes until she was unconscious.
This is the second time the victim had to receive medical attention for injuries inflicted by the perpetrators.
The victim’s mother says police initially provided no help upon receiving reports of distress. She is requesting charges of attempted murder on the perpetrators, based on the repeated death threats her daughter had received.
"My daughter was beaten up a second time and her face is now a mess. They say the reason was because they wanted revenge for the last time we reported them.
"Two months ago, a boy she knew contacted her. He was [one of the attacker's] boyfriend. She was beaten up for picking up his call, and now she was beaten up for reporting the first attack.
"Her forehead is bloated like there’s silicon in it. I was going to dismiss the previous incident, being a parent myself, but I don't think this is right.
"Reporters, please don’t write ridiculous things, I have a lot of evidence. I have an audio recording too, so don’t say she wasn’t injured too badly. My baby can’t even eat congee…. [op's note: congee is a type of rice porridge or gruel popular in many Asian countries. can be served as a side dish]
"As a parent, I don’t like revealing everything, but why do you think I am? I just hope my daughter’s misfortune can help other kids from suffering the same fate."
The perpetrators had accused the victim of having a “bad attitude” for receiving a call from a boy that one of the girls was dating.

Student [in blue]: What did you do? [op's note: the student texting the attacker did not participate in the beatings]
Attacker [in grey]: I hit a kid. They say it’s attempted murder.
Student: Sigh
Attacker: Is it too much?
Student: You did that?
Student: Was it just you two?
Student: Did you hit her alone? You’re a real psycho ㅋㅋ Did you both do it? Answer me. Answer me you b*tch. Are you really sending that to me and asking me if that’s too much? Wow. Until when are you going to keep doing that ㅋㅋ I’m getting really sick of you. You’ve already done enough, you should control yourself now.
Attacker: Sorry. I’ll act properly now.
Student: Was it just you two?
Attacker: Yeah
Student: ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Police are coming under fire on three main points for letting the violence happen. First, police could have prevented it had they promptly heeded the report in June. Second, what’s sparking an uproar is that police only acted after footage of the brutal violence went viral on social media. Third, police allegedly did not take the case seriously even though two of the attackers had already been on probation linked to a different case.

1. [+4,429, -12] Send them to jail
2. [+4,162, -12] I've just seen the devil...
3. [+4,077, -10] These b*tches... you need to take not only them but their parents too and give them physchological help. They deserve to die...
4. [+195, -1] They don't know what real fear is, that's why they're like this. Settle for as much money as possible so that their families have to live in utter poverty for the next four generations.
5. [+195, -1] They're already like this, I can't imagine what they'll be like when they're older. As a parent, I'd be so ashamed of raising a kid like this, I would just kill both the kid and myself if they ever did this.
6. [+188, -0] So the police knew she was assaulted months ago already but did nothing because the victim refused to testify? Did they not realize that she was scared of the repercussions? They didn't bother investigating it at all?
7. [+174, -1] Jail their parents with them
8. [+159, -0] How about instead of sending them to juvie, they get the same treatment right back, right down to making their heads as bloody as possible.
9. [+157, -0] Just reveal their identities. Even if they get sent to jail, they won't be there for long. Imagine them coming back out and acting like normal members of society... we'll hear worse news about them years from now when they're out of juvie.
10. [+146, -0] Apparently they were kicking her while laughing... psychopaths. They're so young that the case will just settle and they'll be sent to juvie for a bit. It'll be a passing memory for them. The CCTV is even scarier... if I ever saw my daughter suffer that kind of treatment, I'd kill them all myself and offer to go to jail.

1. [+2,520, -9] I'm curious who the parents are who raised such children... how can they turn out like this? What did they learn growing up?
2. [+2,235, -18] One thing's for sure... b*tches like them aren't born from normal households
3. [+2,201, -5] The youth these days are crueler than most adults... we really need to get rid of laws protecting minors. I'm scared to even send my daughters to school anymore~
4. [+99, -0] Screw all of this! If my daughter suffered this, I'd pay them right back! Why even bother with laws protecting minors when we live in a world where 17 year olds are committing murders and middle school girls like them are acting so cruelly? These are not minors... these are devils.
5. [+88, -0] Their parents deserve to be publicly shamed right with them
-

1. [+6,832, -17] The laws need to be adjusted, especially the ones protecting minors. Make the consequences stronger...
2. [+6,698, -13] They're already claiming psychological issues. And now that their identities have been leaked all over the internet, they're claiming to sue for defamation ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ as if anyone would care about protecting them
3. [+5,405, -22] The law is made to protect human beings, not devils
4. [+4,015, -16] They have the DNA of murderers
5. [+1,596, -4] Let them go like this and they're going to grow up to actually murder someone. Any normal person could never commit an act like this. Please punish them to the severest consequences.
6. [+1,593, -4] To claim to "love the smell of blood" at their age already... they're past the point of recovery. They're murderers in the making.
7. [+1,259, -10] If I was the parent, I would've already sawed up not only the b*tches but their parents too
8. [+1,224, -3] When I first heard the news, I thought it was just kids who beat up another kid a little too far but I saw the pictures and they totally turned her into a bloodied piece of meat... These girls are not human beings. Just leave them to rot in juvie.
2PM’s Chansung has spoken up about the Busan student assault incident.
On September 5, Chansung linked an article on Twitter of an interview of the victim’s mother, along with the caption, “If [you are] a human, [you] shouldn’t be like this.” In the interview, the victim’s mother revealed that the perpetrators did not even make a call of apology.
Chansung tweeted his thoughts about the incident in another post. He said, “The country legally protects [the assailants] because they are too young and cannot make correct judgments. I understand, but the punishment becomes not too significant because of this reason. Isn’t this the reason why there is no full consciousness of what was done wrong?”
He continued, “Repentance can only be done when one realizes what was done was wrong. But are they even conscious of how big of a mistake they made?”
Meanwhile, many are in shock in regards to the news that a group of female middle school students assaulted a fellow student near a factory in Busan. Earlier on September 4, singer Solbi was swept up in a controversy after she expressed her own thoughts about the incident.
On September 4, singer Solbi used her personal Instagram as a platform to express her thoughts in regards to the Busan student assault incident.
Earlier on September 1, it was revealed that female middle school students “A” and “B” severely assaulted student “C” near a factory located in Sasang District, Busan. Though there was no threat to the victim’s life, many are expressing concern towards the unfortunate incident.
Likewise, Solbi voiced her concern in an Instagram post. She uploaded a drawing of the two students involved, along with her thoughts about the incident. However, some netizens began to heavily criticize Solbi for being “inappropriate” with her statement. The post reads as follows:

“Society presently has too many cases of juvenile delinquency. In school violence, there is the victim, the assailant, and the bystander. I think we all have some degree of responsibility [for incidents like these]. For the sake of the students who have to become an assailant in order to not be a victim, it is important to address and control the issue of school violence. It should be well known that such crime is one of high-level.
I hope that through this student’s pain, there will be no others who have to experience the same pain. I wish her a speedy recovery.”
Some netizens agreed with Solbi, but others condemned her post. They commented, “To say that it’s everybody’s responsibility means that you didn’t think about the victim’s side,” and “So that means the perpetrators are victims of society, and it’s all of our fault? If the victim’s family saw this, how mad would they be.” They even accused Solbi of simply trying to attract attention by saying, “If you can’t understand the situation, then just stay still. You’re writing this kind of post in order to attract attention.”
Solbi has since deleted the post and issued a formal apology through another post on Instagram.
In the post, she said, “Contrary to my intent, my words have made many people uncomfortable. I apologize.”
She continued, “Probably as the same with everyone else, I was so surprised when I first read about the unfortunate incident. So that is why I emotionally posted what I thought, and it became a source of misunderstanding.”
Meanwhile, Solbi has been known to be vocal about societal problems in the past. She has been counseling people through the phone and social networking sites on World Suicide Prevention Day for six years. Even amidst antis disapproving of her, she has always wanted to contribute to society due to the love and encouragement she has been receiving from fans.

Solbi is not wrong about the bystander effect; it is obviously not everyone, but it's a real thing and netizens need to be educated about it considering the bullying problem there is in S.Korea.
These girls; I hate to play armchair doctor, but to be this detached from reality, to feel absolutely no empathy, and reading stuff about how they viewed the victim as only a piece of meet and claiming to "love the smell of blood", there's clearly something wrong with their wiring. I hope they (their family) are sentenced to at least pay for the victims' medical, legal fees and the psychological help she'll need. The perpetrators should stay in juvie for the time necessary until they can be psychologically diagnosed as adults at the bare minimum.
The identity of at least the main perpetrator has been leaked an people are really coming down on her; their families are threatening to sue for this and although they have grounds for it, I'm sadistically glad her name is out there now; whatever future she had is bust now.
I hope something comes out of this petition and public outrage. There is already another case of a girl who was also beaten by bullies although thankfully not as severely as the first victim. The country (and Asia as far as I'm concerned) really needs to address it's bullying problem; it starts at school and continues off until adult/professional life in a lot of cases, but it's not just that, they also need to address their crazy working culture so that parents can actually spend time with their children instead of having them sent to school, hawgons (sp?), collegue and sent them into adulthood. With all the pressure they must endure since early on, kids barely have time to actually be kids.
It will also hopefully set the ball running to change more than just this, because it's time for a reform of S.Korea's laws.
Went off on a tangent there; sorry about the rant. I just feel so sickened and overall emotional by all of this.

SK, and East Asia in general, treat bullying so, so lightly. School staff, instead of dealing with incidents like this one seriously, try to cover it up to keep the school reputation intact, or brush it aside completely as "teenagers being rowdy". And the Police are the worst!
