In One Week, BTS Surpasses 1 Million Pre-Orders for Love Yourself: Her

BTS’s new mini album has exceeded 1 million stock pre-orders!

The distributing company LOEN Entertainment has stated that from the period of August 25 to 31, BTS’s new mini album “Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’” recorded a total of 1,051,546 stock pre-orders.

This is the number of stock pre-orders from only wholesale dealers and retail dealers in Korea, and the total is expected to be even higher when including international stock pre-orders.

Surpassing 1 million stock pre-orders is an impressive feat, especially considering that BTS’s most recent repackaged album “You Never Walk Alone” recorded their previous highest yet with 700,000 stock pre-orders. This means the group’s new release has already surpassed that amount by over 350,000 units.

BTS’s “Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’” is the first release in their new “Love Yourself” series that has been introduced through a series of highlight reels. The mini album is due out on September 18, with fans waiting in anticipation as a counter on the group's website is currently counting down to September 5 at midnight.

if they've never cracked 600k on hanteo I really don't see this 1 mil thing holding up. even exo didnt sell a mil on preorders alone. i like the boys but lets keep it realistic bighit!!

The thing with Hanteo is that it only counts from Hanteo-affiliated stores so Hanteo doesn't account for all sales. Add to the fact that BTS also has a lot of I-fans and many probably don't buy from stores that report to Hanteo.

But with Gaon, Gaon does adjust the numbers(mid-year and end of the year) if there were sent albums were sent back(not sold) But in BTS's case, the stores keep ordering more albums meaning those albums must have been sold. The most BTS has ever had returned was 95 albums and that was with Dark & Wild. But even the next year more D&W albums were sold. All 9 of BTS' albums consistently sell on Gaon throughout the year without returns so those albums must be being sold or stores have 1000s of albums just sitting around which wouldn't make sense.

i still don't get pre-order numbers tbh it's the number the company produced based on the demands right? so it's not yet sold. basically, the pre-order numbers can be higher or lower depending on the company? like companies can underproduce and some can overproduce and it's really not yet anything on the grand scheme of things? sorry, i'm really confused.

well they ship based on demand from stores

stores that are already familiar w/ BTS and know how well they usually sell will ask for X number of albums.

this is good so we can compare with gaon and hanteo later and see if that demand was met.

To sum up Hanteo counts real time sales to Hanteo only affiliated retail stores, i.e. Gmarket, Synnara etc. Hanteo stores are not the only stores that sell music in Korea but they are used to determine real times sales and help determine winners on weekly charts, tv shows.

Gannon Counts all physical shipments to all stores. They are more concerned with year end charting. If any CD's are returned at the end of the year that is reflected in the year end charts.

Gaon is launched in 2010 to function as a national record chart of South Korea, similar to the Billboard charts in U.S.A. So besides physical album sales, Gaon also have other charts such as digital chart, social chart, streaming chart, download chart, and more.

Honestly for now it's hard to tell, they still haven't had a solid hit but SD has done well digitally even though it didn't give them recognition, the bb award probably had some impact but only time will tell.
Their fandom is still growing pretty steadily and most of their fans are here to stay, this upcoming era and year will be pretty decisive for their career imo. And it's about time one of them get into a dating 'scandal' (which I'm really not looking forward to :/)

No I totally agree... it was going to be my comment actually too. Presales just means what the stores etc ordered. And I did read somewhere else that Gaon adjusted the BTS numbers down or something? And I expect other groups that sell a lot to have overall same amount of Hanteo to Gaon ratio because other fandoms do bulk buys etc too. Like foreign fans may buy a bit more for BTS but I really doubt it's that significant

Pretty much the only album they have that's had returns at the end of the year is Dark & Wild and even that's minimal. So we won't know how many returns if any YNWA has until the end of the year probably.
