A big data analysis of the boy group brand reputation of August 2017 has revealed that first place is Exo, second is BTS, and third is Nu’est.

1st place Exo…has a brand reputation index of 17,189,876. Compared to their brand reputation index of 10,121,903 in July, it has surged 69.83%.

2nd place BTS…has a brand reputation index of 12,738,960. Compared to their brand reputation index of 11,157,291 in July, it has risen 14.18%.

3rd place Nu’est (JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun, Ren) has a brand participation index of 2,585,528, media index of 1,074,336, communication index of 744,954, community index of 5,474,458, resulting in a brand reputation index of 9,879,276. Compared to their brand reputation index of 2,538,402 in July, it has surged 289.19%.

why are you surprised? (most) int'l fans don't register for fancafes, their domestic presence isn't... huge, by any means & they've had, like, 3 or 4 small scandals, domestically. i know int'l stans would rather ignore those buuut

I'm not surprised it just doesn't make sense to me. B2ST isn't even a group anymore.
Plus this doesn't seem to be based off of fancafe members but multiple things that I would think as a group that still exists and promotes quite often would be higher up. Not even just them though, there are a few others that I would think would be higher as well.

i mean, there was that rumor that b2st would be reinstated soon but i also don't think that's it—maybe there's just interaction there, the brand reputation thing that b2st has, which highlight also has. searching for b2st is probably a thing that maybe older, less in touch fans would do, etc. and it's not like mx has been in korea lately. during cb's they're usually close to the top 10 than the top 20, iirc (i don't really check for this stuff)

As for domestic scandals:

Someone exposed Kihyun as having smoked and drank while underage. That person also claimed he hit girls/women, but admitted they had no proof/asked people to not spread that; no one spoke out to back-up that claim either, so possibly just a rumour than actual fact.

Wonho also apparently smoked and drank while underage.

Then a couple of dating rumours.

Honestly, the drinking and smoking isn't that huge a deal to me since they're only hurting themselves with that. They're pretty scandal-less as far as I'm aware, at least for actual things that are harmful to others in some way/show bad personality.

Wonho also got a bit of attention since he apparently said he was dating a fellow ulzzang (when he was one) so people would stop asking about her sexuality.

wonho was on ulzzang shidae in the way back, using his real name and, like said above, he dated jang da-eun when he was in the scene (da-eun's still known, too, but a lot of the comments regarding him are a transphobic mess so i honestly wouldn't search it up)

i think the dating rumors have gotten the biggest attention, tbh? hyungwon had a mini dating ~* scandal ~ like a week ago and starship actually posted a statement on it. i'm pretty sure starship stayed mute on the other ones (regarding members wonho, kihyun, jooheon & i.m but i.m's was only a dating rumor & there wasn't anything to back it up, i'm surprised it reached int'l fandom, tbh)... minhyuk insulted zico once & apologized for it on twitter, too, which i literally always forget about (background info here (http://netizenbuzz.blogspot.com/2015/05/pann-monsta-xs-minhyuk-apologizes-for.html), i couldn't find the broadcast subbed)

Short summary, people hate on them for joining pd101 -> people didnt realise how pitiful they are before pd101 -> minhyun and dongho got famous for their stage perf etc, jr got famous for being leaderlike-> the rest of nuest except minhyun are not in w1, people expect dongho and jr especially jr to be in w1>dongho case-> jr got casted in variety show and cf.

Everyone except aron joined but ren has little screentime compared to minhyun, dongho and jr. Mnet such a snake lol, they did dirty to some of the contestant, despite being the center of the performance. But it;s all good now bcos he and jr did a cosmetic cf and got into variety show and also W1 fans are batshit AF.

Nuest is basically poor heroine in a kdrama and their development is like a korean drama plot especially on dongho case, their story got many people sympathize on them during pd101 and when JR didnt make it to W1, people were shooked lol. He was voted num 1 for 2-3times? and he got num 14 during the last episode.

I didnt expect got7 to be so irrelevant tbh...i guess they have a huge internation fanbase to sold 300k album and yass at 2pm. Everyone keep saying them flop pm, but their member are still famous among public and i think junho drama got people interested back to 2pm.

True about the international fanbase, i just thought things were a bit more balanced between int fandom and the domestic one!

(I'm kinda biased because they're my fave) Yeah, 2pm is an almost 9 year old group so of course i'm not gonna compare them with younger groups in their prime, but they're doing fine tbh.
I think they're still the main source of income for JYP, they have a strong presence in Japan, and the members are always doing some sort of individual activity (solo albums, acting, cfs etc), not bad for a 2nd gen group!

I was in korea last year during fly promotion and they seems to have pretty stable fanbase imo when i went for the music show and the fans are crazy af. But i think they seems to be quite inactive and focusing too much on overseas promotion this year.

Also dont worry bcos im biased to 2pm as well! Haha. Tbh i think they were smart with the direction they took individually. Everyone has their own role and it does not overshadow and overlap between each other, if 2pm ever split *i hope not*.. it's easier for them bcos they pretty much stable in what they do right now.
