This is dumb tbh. After that nonsense with the 5sos guy with that dude from day6 my feelings re: western recognition/validation are a simple no thanks. This is such an obvious marketing ploy with no respect for kpop or its artists. Hard pass from me. I wish that other kpop fans let things like this die by simply ignoring them. None of this is harmless fun 'cause teen choice or whatever it is is making money off of this. And I'd really rather not give anything to them because all they see when they look at kpop is another demographic to be exploited and I'm not here for that.

I hope exo drop out of it in the first round or smth.

Did the artist even know they were going to be nominated? Like I'm pretty sure most of them are touring atm. This is definitely a viewer grab. They saw how popular kpop was at the billboards and so they watched a nugu fan's top 10 kpop boy group's youtube video and chose the first 4. I'm sure they will be using "Fire" or "Kokobop" as their transition into commercial's song.

bc with the official death of 1d all those fans had to migrate somewhere and they're now into kpop. brands and media companies are using them to get their clicks now just like they used 1d a few years ago. it's all about $$$$$$$

plus groups like exo and bts are selling real physical units that american artists can only dream of rn in the streaming age. they're POWERFUL and people see that and they want to tap into it in any way they can.

p much they see the money and value in it now that western pop is dead.
