[TRANS] Hoobaenims we are thankful for who were the only ones to come to say hello ๐ https://t.co/AyZrjSL4cd

It's a common practice for junior groups to come to senior groups rooms and greet them, usually gifting them with the album they are currently promoting. Hyoyeon recently took to instagram to reveal that EXO were the only juniors to come and greet them and gift SNSD their new album. Many seniors have noted that junior groups don't come and greet them any longer, and plenty of fans are angered by the news.
Have you seen this?ใ ใ

'Feeling grateful towards the only junior who came to greet us'
[+593][-87]
1. [+435][-109] I'm way much madder than she is..ใ ใ ใ Aren't there a lot of rookie groups who performed in the same music show today? How could they not go to greet their seniors.. That's very rude..
2. [+407][-76] Seems like she was really annoyed by that..ใ ใ ใ No wonder, I would've reacted the same way if I was her.. I mean, all of the idol groups who performed in that music show must be SNSD's juniors.. On top of that, by 10 years..
3. [+366][-73] Crazy..ใ ใ ใ The singers who performed in that music show, except for Raina, debuted later than Exo, which makes them SNSD's juniors as well. Am I right?? Even the idols who are already 6 years into their debut came to greet the 11-years old idols.. What are they doing instead of greeting them??
4. [+274][-288] The seniority in entertainment industry is seriously no joke..ใ ใ Well, Exo and SNSD are under the same label and that's why Exo came to greet them. Why do the idols who are not even under the same label have to come to their waiting room??? I can understand it if they pass by each other and not greet SNSD, that is rude, but it's a whole different case we're talking about here.. I mean, we're not in militaryใ ใ ใ How about you guys? Do you always go to the teacher's room to greet them one by one during your school days? Or do you even greet the alumnis of your school when they visit your school?
5. [+226][-22] Look at the best comments.. Are you guys muggles, or just new to this fangirl life??ใ ใ ใ It is given for singers to go to their seniors' waiting room to give out signed albums every time they make a debut or comeback. That's the etiquette in this industryใ ใ ใ Those who like senior groups must know this really wellใ ใ And Hyoyeon's intention behind posting that is not to throw shades, but simply just because she felt grateful towards Exo because they were the only junior who came to greet her group..
6. [+167][-28]ใ ใ ใ ใ Where did the group that just debuted today go..?
7. [+164][-12] GFriend has always mentioned SNSD as their role models, even in the most recent interview. And yet they didn't come to greet them?ใ ใ ใ ใ That's hilarious..
8. [+156][-9] Just think about it.. Imagine if you were an idol who's already 10 years into your debut, you made a comeback, and none of your juniors came to greet you in your waiting room. Wouldn't you be upset?
9. [+145][-7] The only groups who have been in the industry for quite long time are SNSD and Exo, am I right? SNSD is a 11 years old group, a big senior while Exo is a 6 years old group.. Seems like idols nowadays are really thoughtless.. I bet they didn't greet Exo, I mean.. They didn't even greet SNSD..ใ ใ ใ
10. [+134][-16] It's not like SNSD often makes a comeback or anything, they're having a comeback after a really long time and their juniors didn't come to greet them.. That's kinda rude;; SNSD is a big senior to them..

Date: 2017-08-10 05:24 pm (UTC)I think it's a matter of being bit disappointing for older gen idols that the tradition is wearing off, but who knows, since seniority is a big thing so maybe it is actually upsetting to some of them. I remember reading about Kim Tae Woo being legitimately pissed when a senior told him he had been the only one to greet him during a music show so he (Tae Woo) gathered the juniors, made them line up and bow to the guy.

Date: 2017-08-10 05:25 pm (UTC)And apart from the manners factor, it's stupid to not take advantage of the networking oppurtunity, imagine if Hyoyeon had posted about some rookie group on insta, that's a publicity boost for them they may not otherwise get.Plus a senior might remember you and that can benefit you down the line as well.

Date: 2017-08-10 05:32 pm (UTC)It's worse since snsd are 10 years old and their accomplishments helped paved the way for other groups, specifically girl groups. So yeah, it's like saying you admire snsd but then don't even do something that's considered courteous and respectful

Date: 2017-08-10 06:03 pm (UTC)I though it was basically a part of everyone's routine. You show up, do your prep stuff, greet your seniors, perform.
It's a bit shocking that it seems to not be happening since I remember reading about "scandals" and stuff for groups that they were considered rude because they didn't greet their seniors.
I specifically remember it happening for Ukiss, though I think it was never proved to be them the seniors was talking about.

Date: 2017-08-10 06:11 pm (UTC)And even besides that I would think networking and having seniors have nothing but good things to say about you is great for your rep. I understand that SK seniority bs can get out of hand but when it comes to this easy greeting type of thing I don't see how that's a huge deal to go and greet your Sunbaes. The reactions have been funny though "keep SNSD name out ya mouth if ya can't even greet them"

Date: 2017-08-10 06:12 pm (UTC)rookie groups (or anyone really, unless they're involved in the production) are not making anything from their music/CDs and then having to give away X number of CDs per week to sunbae groups & having to greet them on every. music. show. for how many weeks? & honestly no one's going to listen to all those CDs anyway... what a waste.
not to mention, given the large # of creepy assholes in the entertainment industry, if i were a girl group member, i wouldn't feel comfortable going to visit sunbae groups, esp male groups tbh
i also feel some type of way about hyoyeon putting other groups on blast.... i feel like it's so unnecessary 'cuz there's so many other factors (being intimidated, tiredness, not fully prepared, other things happening in their daily lives, etc) besides the simple explanation of "younger groups are rude these days."

Date: 2017-08-10 06:25 pm (UTC)It makes sense considering how scrutinized Soshi was for their manners, being juniors and a girl group (especially when their SM seniors were mostly boy groups with insane fandoms that treated them poorly for a while). I would be pissed too if I paid those dues.

Date: 2017-08-10 06:29 pm (UTC)going out of your way to give CDs seems like a lot to me (an English person), and perhaps people in the industry are starting to feel the same way? however, as many other people have mentioned, SNSD are top ranking and it's their 10th anniversary, not going to at least greet them feels really off
I personally feel like it'd be good if they all greeted each other and were on friendly terms, regardless of seniority, and didn't feel too pressured by the current system as well, like, you go around, greet the other groups, chat, hopefully be friends, and it's all good, no extra worry or unnecessary stress
this all being said, I have a complete outsider's perspective on this, even if I am able to see somewhat how things work in this context, so

Date: 2017-08-10 08:31 pm (UTC)Exo have known snsd for years and members have dated - not really a fair comparison to show that they greeted snsd.
And yeah- both Hyo and Tae haven't really impressed me each time they decide to use their social media to call people out- (I know that's a whole different topic so won't elaborate too much) but it kind of makes them seem like mean girls

Date: 2017-08-10 07:18 pm (UTC)or when people compare groups nowadays to 2nd gen. It's just different, it's hard to stack up the success of one generation to the other, especially when the former paved your way. Like calling Twice the new Snsd, sure they have similarities, but Twice's road to success is very different from Soshis.

Date: 2017-08-10 07:12 pm (UTC)We don't have something like this in Jidol culture, plus, I think it's mostly the companies and/or the managers, who decide if idols give out albums/visit seniors in their rooms. I doubt that the idols themselves have much say in it.
