The MV is nice. I like it. Still bopping to the song too.

And now I know why we got the new logo news earlier. They used it at the end of this MV but Bighit could have given us more than a couple of hours notice. Really Bighit..

I'm used to BTS's complicated MVs and this was really something else but in a good way because it really matches the song. I like it.

lol @ the new logo at the end hihi

I really like BTS' angsty MVs lol.

I get a sense that the lunar eclipse at the end is giving shaved head guy empathic powers to feel others' pain.

I got the chills at the end when dude's smartphone turned into a cassette like woah back up I was not prepared for the shot into the past.

The song is beyond dope still and I'm really glad Seo Taiji keeps working with younger gen singers (despite his messy rl scandals). I still love his collab with IU. I wonder who's next on his list.

Bangtan can do no wrong tbh releasing their harder sounds. I mean, I do love their current artsy fartsy emo sound, but D&W was sonically right up my alley despite some questionnable lyrics. (Unless RM is not keen for their oldschool style anymore which is //sadface//)

I totally agree with you on their harder sounding songs!! Hyyh and wings were really well done artistically, but I miss the school trilogy/d&w (minus some of the lyric content and most of the visual content lol). I guess I'm still glad we get songs like fire, not today, and dope etc at least... honestly tho, I think since rap mon (and suga) have been in the "mainstream" industry for a while they've been exposed to more styles of music?? As opposed to just the hard hitting sounds of underground hip hop. It shows growth in a way? Idk lol

i don't love-love their new sound (not-fan fave, “not today” was my fave single of theirs after... yes, “dope”) and paired w/ a lot of fandom bullshit is the reason i won't get into them heavily but ia about their older, harder-sounding stuff. i like it better & i don't think them getting into new styles is a bad thing but whenever they do they heavily lean into that for like. several eras w/ the way they do trilogies and stuff. (which at that point? lmao, i get bored)

*clap clap* I want to make out with this comment.

(Altho shhhh on that Beyond the Scene stuff, they will forever be Bangtan Sonyeondan -- I just love how that sounds and rolls off the tongue. Beyond the Scene sounds like some really tragic emo pop punk scenester band from 2005)

well their korean name is still bangtan sonyeondan! and ia with you about the nostalgia tho this song is like the throwback i didn't know i needed but is much appreciated lol

ia, tbh bts isn't the most talented group out there, but they're definitely one of the most versatile one, even their "weak' vocal line slay vocal centered songs and ballads (Love is not over, Butterfly, House of Cards, Lost, etc)

but i don't get the wings slander lots of fans do, it's the album that got me into them and it literally doesn't have one bad song and all the lyrics are on point 😢

But perfect "technical" voices get boring to me after the initial wow factor wears off.

I feel this on a spiritual level lol. This isn't exclusive to Bangtan/K-pop, but I easily get bored of singers who have perfected techniques, because then everything sounds the same? And ia about vmin, especially Taehyung, I think he has insane potential, it's too bad BH keeps misusing his voice, even though he always aces the growl-y part of their songs (Fire, Baepsae, BIL definitely wouldn't be the same without his parts)

glad to see some people agree c: i don't think any of the albums they keep releasing are downgrades, imo what makes a good album is 1) good production 2) good lyrics 3) consistence/coherence 4) longevity/replay value.

D&W: had average to good production, average lyrics, yet is incredibly coherent.
HYYH1&2: had good to very good production, slightly above to above average lyrics but lacked some coherence to me.
YNWA: had good to excellent production, above average lyrics, and is also very coherent, which makes it not only a very good k-pop album, but also a very good pop album as a whole (and may appeal to the masses (me, i'm the mass) but then fans who were familiar with BTS' signature sounds may feel like it wasn't very BTS-like)

And I'm ranting lmao. I just feel for the boys because they keep working hard and evolving and doing what they love and trying to do things that they hope fans will love, but a lot of fans aren't all that receptive/appreciative to it unfortunately, even though BTS hasn't given us a bad songs in the last months, fans are just that hard to please.

Honestly, a lot of those vocalists with the perfect voices do tend to blend together after a while. I'm down for those with who can sing with emotion or they have a certain unique quality to their voice.

I totally agree with you about Taehyung! He has the widest vocal range in BTS and if he just knew how to utilize it properly then he might even get to a decent main or lead vocalist level. Jimin has a very unique voice but sometimes he really sounds like Jin and Jungkook lol XD I'm hoping that BigHit invests in some proper vocal trainers for these boys because they sound decent now but there is so much improvement that they could get if they had the right training.

I love how their sound has evolved over the years and how involved they are with their album production. They have improved musically and stylistically. I also like that they're trying different sounds but still keeping that BTS vibe. I must admit that I wasn't that in to their debut sound but they grew on me and I am more into their current sound but I have an appreciation for their music even more now.

standing ovation for this whole comment.

and like, i love bts's vocal line so much? i acknowledge their weaknesses and i would so be happy if they could keep improving to sing in a healthier way, but they're always pointed at as a weak vocal line and technically that might be true but they're still so essential to the sound of bts and part of what makes the group unique

Yes! Like okay sure BTS may not have the strongest vocalists but they make it work. They may not have the proper vocal techniques but they sound fine. I'm down for them getting some proper vocal training because they could use the improvement but they all have potential especially Taehyung because I am biased XD But their vocals are what make them stand out and it adds to the overall BTS sound and that's all that matters to me.

I wish someone would ban the haterade already.
If there was ever a case of Haters Make Me Greater, exhibit A: Bangtan Sonyeondan (sorry but I refuse to refer to them as Beyond The Scene)

*holds you* we will never refer to them as THAT. They could have named themselves any nonsensical thing like blimp the seashells or blurry to see and I wouldn't hate it as much as Beyond the Scene

*holds you tight and rubs your back* there, there, we'll never use it except in jest and sarcasm. Tbh, it sounds like a dad joke or something my dad would say to be 'down with the youth of today' -- I could totally see my dad walking in the room and being like hey, everybody, check out these jeans that go up to my armpits, aren't they beyond the scene? SMH.

Wait..
BangTan Style actually sounds better than Beyond the Scene..

Wings/YNWA was what got me into BTS. Their School trilogy styling wasnt my cup of tea, but after being a fan, I can appreciate the music much much more than their styling.
Yes, it feels different with their current music, but it doesnt make it worse. IA with you that they keep growing and it's beautiful.

Right? can we make a petition to Bighit?

With Bangtan Style they can give it a new meaning but still staying at their roots.
They'd be Bangtan in Korea, and also Bangtan internationally. They have used the word so many times in their lyrics, they're practically branded with it.

i love the song so much - these harder, rap-led songs fit them so well, and i expect a choreo that goes hard to go along with this.

People are saying they miss Bangtan's old sound but it's basically 90s hiphop. It's not like the group changed. They just use current beats for their music rather than inspiration from the 90s. This song reminds people of that because it is from the 90s, not because BTS is "returning to their old style". I can't eloquently state why that phrase is so irritating to mr, but it is. I think maybe it feels insulting, when they worked so hard to evolve their sound and music, and people blow it off as being artsy.(Because that's a style of music?)
