Media outlet Sports Seoul has surveyed executives from 32 entertainment agencies on the most influential people in K-pop.

The survey was conducted from June 8 to 15, and each participant wrote their votes for the top three in four different categories. Each first place answer got three points, second place got two, and third place got one. With this format, the total score for each category was 192, and the highest that an individual or group could get was 96.

1. SM Entertainment’s Lee Soo Man (43 points)
2. YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk (30 points)
3. BTS (26 points)
4. JYP Entertainment’s Park Jin Young (25 points)
5. BIGBANG’s G-Dragon (23 points)

Lee Soo Man of SM Entertainment topped the list as one of the original key figures in leading the K-pop wave across the world with groups like TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, SHINee, and EXO. Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young of the other “big 3” agencies YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment also ranked high, while artists BTS and G-Dragon also made the list.

Best K-pop Producer

1. Big Hit Entertainment’s Bang Shi Hyuk (48 points)
2. JYP Entertainment’s Park Jin Young (45 points)
3. SM Entertainment’s Lee Soo Man (29 points)

2. EXO (60 points)
3. BIGBANG (18 points)
4. SEVENTEEN (15 points)
5. Wanna One (4 points)

BTS placed first for best male K-pop group, having received significant recognition with various records and awards worldwide including the Top Social Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards. EXO and BIGBANG took second and third with their long-lasting influence and popularity in the industry. SEVENTEEN placed fourth, while Wanna One from “Produce 101 Season 2” placed fifth with the explosive attention they have been receiving even before debut.

1. TWICE (93 points)
2. GFRIEND (25 points)
3. BLACKPINK (15 points)
4. Girls’ Generation (14 points)
5. Red Velvet (13 points)

The group has shown continuous success in diverse areas including digital charts, album sales, and YouTube views. GFRIEND and BLACKPINK took second and third, respectively, also reigning on digital charts with each release. In fourth, Girls’ Generation showed the power of their longevity amidst all the other groups on the list that debuted less than three years ago. so... whoever is trending?
I wish we got some new face/name on that producer list, if only to get a bigger variety of sound
I feel like the kpop sound use to be a bit more diverse. I feel like every group (boy and girl) is recycling old stuff
Some new blood on the producer team might do some good

BLACKPINK outranking faves with literally only 4 songs and no album out, what kind of star POWER

I'm laughing at how BTS made the list over their CEO. Their wish had better be his command.

Not surprised by BTS being the most influential boy group, I saw tons of people being in denial about it, but you can't deny that a lot of new groups coming from smaller companies are trying to gain fans like BTS did, especially by using social medias.

wanna one at number 5 doesn't invalidate the list in any way though. considering ioi's previous success, all the attention this season received and those subunit tracks killing it on melon, they're poised to be massive

TWICE NGG

*Most watched kpop gg on youtube.
*Part of the million albums sellers club, achieving that in only 1 year and a half of existence.
*Queens of melon, debut was almost out of the 100 mark, but reached the top 10 with constant promotions. After that they had 4 more hits. Many still on the melon list. Even Signal, my least favorite and unnecessary JYP imput is having a blast on the charts.
*Survived a dating scandal
*Survived a fucking insane chinese ban bc their 17 y/o maknae waved a taiwanese flag. On the other hand, the said maknae became the queen of Taiwan.
*Trendsetters with the littlest things they do. Sana and Tzuyu are the responsible for most of them.
*Queens of amazing MVs. Capable of pulling any concept.
*They even have their own haters fandom called Thrices.
*All achieved with hard work, humility, a strong mindset, talent (we've got receipts), great character and charisma.

And there're rumors that they only reached the top now bc they're pretty and "untalented". Which is funny, bc countless ggs are damn pretty and sell talent lol

Get on their level, bish and TT away.

as long as they know soshi are still the queens, i am fine with this list

im all for girl groups becoming big, especially twice. 90% of them were regular girls or were trained for something else and formed a group and made it big together through hard work and amazing personalities. granted, they don't have a taeyeon, jessica, tiffany (kind of when jihyo screams), seohyun, or even sunny in terms of vocals but jihyo does her best to carry them, only have one genuinely good dancer with sana and tzuyu following close behind but they're never out of sync, and dahyun was viewed as one of THE WEAKEST gg idols with people even going so far to try to petition her out of the group when they debuted. i'd say they more than deserved this no. 1 spot and gfriend DEFINITELY deserved no. 2

i hope dreamcatcher and pristin can make it on this list soon

Date: 2017-06-25 04:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aridnili.livejournal.com
Justice for Jeongyeon and Nayeon vocals, op! JY is getting there faster too. The hate Twice gets is ridiculous. But even SNSD and YG people love Twice, so it makes everything more hilarious.

And YES for GG powah! Dreamcatcher deserves the hype, they're so amazing! Pristin too! What I love about this new gen is that they're all so friendly.

People like to do some nasty comparisons and VS bullshit between TWICExBPxRVxGfriend when they're all such good friends and promote each other all the time.

I've noticed that a lot of musicians and other people within the industry love Red Velvet even though their music doesn't come off as palatable to the general public (or maybe just to international K-pop fans), so them being on the list makes sense considering the people who joined the poll.
