Since BTS will be traveling once again to the US for the BBMAs, a statement was released by BigHit Entertainment. Fans have apparently getting their flight information, getting on the same flights and harassing them all over. BigHit sent out a statement in four languages (Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese) to tell fans to stop "using illegally attained information, trying to sit near the band, taking pictures of the members and invading privacy constantly, despite restraints by BigHit staff and security guards".

The statement also goes on to say that "BTS members are under great mental and physical stress due to some fans’ lack of discretion.”

Sick. And not in the good way.

i think the problem is that a lot of fans don't even realize that they're those kinds of fans. like i-fans think they're so much better than k-fans, but they still show up at airports, follow them around cities in their off time, hang out in hotel lobbies, but they would never consider themselves equally as bad as the k-fans we read reports about. like as long they're not hacking their phones it's okay? or, since they only come to these different countries occasionally it's okay.
i know there's users in this comm that show up at airports (not for bts specifically, i've just seen it mentioned in the past) and they say artists will feel bad if there's no one at the airport to greet them. imo that's inappropriate and i side eye anyone who goes to airports but whatever, not my life.

also, that moment in your icon is one of the best moments that has ever happened on asc.

Its sad bighit even had to release a statement about this.I still can't get over V getting chased in the airport when he came back from Jeju Island...like people really need to stop. How do people even get the money to buy a plane ticket just cuz their favorite idol is going to be on the same plane.

as a casual fan of bts ..., all i really can do anymore is feel bad for them, tbh. like i always figured that they were under an extreme amount of stress due to fandom antics on top of their constant activities and what's being expected of them right now (from having to cater to both their k-fandom / j-fandom and i-fandom) but it makes me wonder when the bottom is gonna drop out. like people can only take so much.

I wonder what is the tipping point for these people that they let go of all common sense. I would add "decency" to that but they honestly think they are being as decent as possible in their practices towards their idols. Like, when is that moment the switch in their brain happens?

this is my only chance to see oppa, i must get oppas attention so he falls in love with me!!!

seriously tho, im nervous as fuck when im around celebs. i remember when i went to a meet & greet that my fave comedian was holding after his show. im usually a funny and straight forward person but i was so nervous, the only thing i could think of in that moment was "do not fuck this up, do not fuck this up, try to stay calm and act like a human person". going to the airport, screaming at their faces and whatnot? hell no.

The boys have been covering themselves up more every time they go to airports esp. Yoongi :( you can usually see how uncomfortable they are. I'm glad Big Hit is bringing attention to this but honestly if it's a continuous thing they might as well take some legal action instead. As long as these fans have the resources and will to follow and harass the boys, I don't see them stopping just because an entertainment company's asks them to.

Who even has the time to go to airports tbh? Like you would not catch my ass at O'hare at any time of day unless I'm leaving this godforsaken state. I hope people actually listen (they won't). I know BTS has a lot of younger fans so like...why are parents enabling their kids to these stalker traits. Put your kids in summer camp please. It helps build social and life skills.

just a couple weeks ago i saw a video of tae running away from a group of screaming fans and 98% of the comments were telling the uploader to take it down before other fandoms saw it, bc i guess thats what really matters ugh

Their fans needs to chill but that will never happen coz BTS is so popular I cant even explain the level. The access to technology, social media, information is so easy in this generation. Its what helped make them popular but its also the reason why they're so stressed by their fans now.

Tbh I always want to go to airport whenever my fave came to my country. But it's good that I never have time to do it. Now I know that they dont like it.
I thought coming to airport is okay since usually there's "airport fashion" which means the idol wants to look good to be captured in camera. But thinking about it now, BTS usually didnt look like they tried to look good, and even use clothing that hides them.

One thing people don't talk about is also how this airport shit affects the airport security and their workday. You're literally inconveniencing every single person - your idols, their staff, the airport staff. It's just shitty and selfish.

We all know these people are not gonna stop just with just a warning like this. BigHit better invest in more bodyguards, lawyers and psychological attention for the boys if they want something to improve.
I get so mad at things like this, how can you bother the lives of people you claim to care about? I will never get over the fact that Exo fans actually ruined Soo's mental health, it's infuriating.

There are 2 types of "fans" I don't agree with: sasaengs and fansite masters. Both are doing a pretty good job in harassing these boys and idols in general. There have been a few kpop concerts in my country, too and I remember rolling my eyes whenever I saw pictures of fans at the airport. The worst part is they had been encouraged by the promoter to "welcome" the groups.

Anyway, just with a warning, this will never stop. Bighit needs to bring in the big guns.

From: [identity profile] broadcities.livejournal.com
good that they've sent out a warning, but they should also follow up with action. more security etc. around the boys. and perhaps the boys themselves should speak out? on the other hand, once fans reach a certain kind of delusion, it's too late.

ugh this makes me so angry. people really don't understand idols are people, and do not solely consist for fans' 'consumption' do they? gross

Date: 2017-05-16 06:42 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apori.livejournal.com
Maybe I'm pessimistic but I feel like the vast majority of fans (not restricted to BTS at all) don't think of them as people, and even worse, I think they consider this invasive unidirectional consumptive behavior a favor to them :/

Date: 2017-05-16 06:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apori.livejournal.com
I'm the airport crowd anti and always will be. But this is even worse, but not a surprise at all to me.

It will never not be creepy invasive and entitled to me to go to the airport to oogle another human being trying to move from one place to another. I don't believe that anyone who does this thinks of them as human. This is even worse when you add in cameras, touching, filming and all the shit that WE KNOW happens. Fansites are no better, BUT they are capitalists so if people didn't want their pictures they wouldn't pursue it so vigilantly (many of them are sasaeng level fans anyway so they would probably still follow them). That's why I can't follow any fansites on twitter, the pics from normal events are great but the airport shite is just fucking creepy.

As much as I like airport fashion posts and seeing what they wear casually, you can tell that some of the boys are really done.
Yoongi, JK and sometimes Hobi completely cover up and you don't even see even a hint of a smile. They look so pissed half the time and sometimes I get worried when one of them is going to snap & start going full on JYJ on people.

Sometimes I feel like the fact that we have social media access and people are more connected now more than ever, it becomes so easy to leak shit and find things out :/ I would never imagine seeing my fave in an airport, I don't know if it's because I've been in K-pop for so long but it sounds so exhausting? Especially when I remember all the photos we got of BTS when they were in Brazil and Chile and the shit that happened at the restaurants :/

Big Hit needs to start investing in a private jet or a chartered flight, it would be good for the boys in the long run.

I'm really scared people are going to go 2012 EXO-L on BTS :/

people need to stop invading others privacy. it's rude and brings enormous stress to people. i'm honestly glad that bighit mentioned that it's giving the boys mental stress and anxiety and that it's putting a strain on them. let the fly in peace!!!

i remember there being a post about a person or two actually being on the same flight as them trying to talk to one of the members (taehyung i think) and him looking visible uncomfortable while yoongi just looked angry for bothering one of them and politely but still looking done, tried to ask if they could just leave them alone. in what world does this sound appealing to people??? they wanna have a private and quiet flight.

I mean, as long as people don't see idols as humans/feel entitled to their presence and more, I don't see this stopping.

And i-fans are guilty of this as well.. I use Tumblr but sometimes I feel like people don't see BTS as people just like them. They really put them on a pedestal and act like they're somehow greater. Posts how they're so innocent, so perfect, ~ actual sunshine etc really creep me out sometimes. They're humans and they have faults.

The idol worship is so messed up to me and I think partly what drives these so-called fans to such extremes. They don't respect boundaries because they don't see these idols as humans with emotions and flaws.
