Sweet baby Jang Geu Rae is all grown up and sexy/dangerous in trailer for new movie, The Merciless. (trigger warning: blood, guns, stylized violence)

Koogle.tv: “The Merciless,” an upcoming crime-action film starring Im Si-wan and Sol Kyung-gu, is slated to hit theaters in May, its production companies CJ Entertainment said on Thursday. Im will play policeman Hyun-soo who enters a prison on an undercover revenge mission. There he meets Jae-ho, played by Sol, who is the second man of the criminal organization Hyun-soo is targeting. After being released from the prison, the two team up to seize power within the organization.

The film, helmed by director Byun Sung-hyun -- who was behind the romance film “Whatcha Wearin’?” (2012) -- will also feature the award-winning veteran actors Kim Hee Won, Jeon Hye-Jin and Lee Gyeung-young.


Soompi: Im Siwan and Seol Kyung Goo’s recent film “The Merciless” was selected by the 70th Cannes Film Festival for a midnight screening in the non-competitive division. However, Im Siwan is currently filming his MBC drama “The King Loves.”

A source from CJ, who is distributing the film, stated, “Im Siwan will be going to Cannes. But the details of his schedule have not yet been worked out. He doesn’t know his exact timetable yet.”

Im Siwan said, “I’m currently working on a production. In addition, I still haven’t fulfilled my military duties. There’s a lot of things I have to consider. If it happens that I’m able to go, then of course I want to go.”

all they've achieved was inspite of the company and not bc of it tbh. now that all my faves are already/soon will be out of star empire I just want them to crash and burn lol. apart from Misaeng, he'll forever have a place in my heart for funding 9 Muses' comebacks bless + he has Dara's seal of approval. and omg I'd love a second season of Misaeng, but something tells me we're gonna be waiting for a looong time for that just like with Liar Game 😞

Thanks lol. He looks amazing in this movie. Siwan was my son whom I had raised from birth until two seconds into that trailer and frankly I'm a little embarrassed about my thirst, but I could do worse. He's only three years younger than me.

Also, I have never mentioned it but I am always so pleased when I see you using that icon. That was a hell of a photoshoot.

He's done at least three movies since then (not counting this one) but it seems like only the dramas attract attention. But he's filming a drama right now called The King Loves which is supposed to air this summer I think.

I know the webtoon is available in Korean but I haven't been able to find any English translations either. =/

Ohh, I didn't know the trailer had finally been subbed. It looks so good, honestly.

I've been following the promo for this movie on Twitter since I have a soft spot in my heart for Siwan, and I absolutely love the posters - especially the first one you posted. They are super dynamic & a lil artistique~ Also, I saw those shirtless pic on Twitter yesterday & literally was thinking of that exact Misaeng scene. :'D I'm so impressed, he must have really worked for that.
I'm also looking forward to seeing him at Cannes. As others have said, he is an incredible actor so he really deserves to go there.
