BTS’s new track “Spring Day” has set a new record for K-Pop groups!

The group released their new repackaged album “You Never Walk Alone” on February 13 at midnight KST, as well as the haunting music video for their new song “Spring Day.”

BTS’s “Blood, Sweat & Tears” MV previously held the record for the highest number of views for a music video by a K-Pop group within the first 24 hours of its release. The video broke previous records last October by amassing 6.34 million views within the first day of its release, and has held the record since.

However, BTS and their fans have now absolutely smashed that record! The video for “Spring Day” was watched a total of 9,447,661 times by February 14 at midnight KST, exactly 24 hours since its release. The video also received over 961,000 likes in 24 hours.

Both the album and “Spring Day” have been massive hits already, as BTS’s new tracks swept Korean charts and the group achieved an all-kill with “Spring Day.” They also broke a K-Pop record as they became the first K-Pop group to break into the top 10 songs chart on iTunes in the United States with “Spring Day” coming in at No. 8, and all four of their new tracks charting in the top 30. Their album “You Never Walk Alone” also reached No. 1 on iTunes album charts in 13 countries.

Great work, BTS and ARMY!

Hahaha everybody on twitter was so disappointed that we didn't get 10 million, but holy shit, we got really close.

the fandom has really grown in size since Blood, Sweat and Tears!

EXOLs are doing laundry right now, trying to get the shit stains out of their undies. Sad!

Ty! And I'll be changing my icon soon. I've formed a new band with NamTae (formerly of Loser Winner) and he says my look isn't "indie" enough" so I'll be debuting a new hairdo shortly. Please anticipate!

I love how organized armys are this comeback and it seems the fandom has grown a little. Anyway, it's ok, we still have Not Today to get to 10 mil next week :D

the fact that this beautiful but relatively boring ass MV can get near 10 mill where ETERNAL BOP Blood, Sweat & Tears barely cracks 6 mill shows just how exponentially more popular the group gets!

The problem with BST was that break where RM starting talking and the video had like 6 mins or smth

Yeah, thats good and interesting for the first time, but after that, its precious streaminh time wasted. But if I look at it a different way, I can't fault BH for it. They followed their "vision" and streaming records aren't good for anything more than bragging rights.

That's true. I usually don't care about streaming records but get that promo boys!

Congratulations! The MV really is gorgeous and worth watching, so why not break a few records?
I ended up reading Omelas because of this and that story is trash tbh. But I have a new appreciation for the video, so it wasn't time wasted reading it. I hope the time of BH drawing inspiration from literature continues, because it adds dimension to their work

asdfg why would you call it trash? :O

The author tried to add depth to their happiness by introducing the suffering of the child, but I see no correlation, for one.

I disagree, suffering children always make me happy! Love!

"The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants
and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual,
only evil interesting."

The basic premise of the story is contradicted by the author's own words >_> I'm way too cute a person for this shit

i thought she did it to make people who otherwise wouldn't believe in omelas' happiness believe in it by adding the child so that they would realize that fragment you quoted is true? the contradiction seems pretty deliberate. idk how to explain, whatever, doesn't matter :P

I understand. I might even have been cool with it if it wasn't such a shallow depth? Again, whats the correlation?

I'm glad for my kings, but I don't really care for the song tbh :/ The mv is gorgeous though.

About BTS' fandom, it amazes me that they have those kinda stans that don't really listen to kpop that much or not at all, but somehow really like their stuff and are always there for the new releases. I know a few people around me like that.

congrats to army tho, this is surely all thanks to your hard work
please keep making other fandoms freak out

tbh i really believe the mv hit 10mil in 24 hours because the youtube views were stuck at that number for the longest time lmao fans were pissed

but either way i'm really proud and i'm glad it's making their antis seethe ("my group paved the way for YOUR group!!!") also the song is great like i understand different strokes etc but i'm amazed at people classifying it as a boring ballad like which part...?

Date: 2017-02-14 01:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jaelissi.livejournal.com
It might be something like 25 hours, cause it did update right before 24 and it was just under 10.

Ain't nobody paved no way for BTS. they're still popular in the places kpop is usually popular in, but they're the ones breaking into new markets right now.

I hope this motivates fans to stream not today more + @ bighit please release a normal length mv

yeah i wish fans of older groups would just accept that bts are /the/ in group rn instead of fighting with their obviously young fanbase about how their fave groups are legends and bts could never amount to what they achieve etc (i obviously have a group/fandom in mind lmao)

Yay, i'm really happy for them, they have been getting so many new fans recently.

I think that not today video might break the 10 million barrier in 24 hours bc the song is more upbeat and there seems to be more action in the video lol + of course the armys try to get 10 million views bc of spring day missing the mark.

I'm also really interested how they will be doing in Billboard and if they can surpass their chart ranking for Wings.

The views thing is really impressive. Good job, and congratulations, BTS ft Army.

Real talk though, I'm not even a little bit impressed by Spring Day. That song is garbage.

Why do people have to bring up EXO-L, though?

Date: 2017-02-14 10:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jaelissi.livejournal.com
ARMY vs XOL is a running joke. Also, it's mostly just true. You can just say you don't like the song, cause it's not garbage in any case. There are plenty of garbage songs out there, but this is simply a matter of your taste not lining up. Which is totally okay, ofc. You be you and all that...

if anything is garbage, it's Not Today, but even the lyrics to that are way too good

Yeah, of course I could just say I don't like the song. But, I genuinely think it's garbage. It doesn't suit my taste in the slightest. BTS has put out songs that are better than this, in my opinion, by about a million.

But like I said congratulations to them. I haven't heard any of the other songs on the album, but judging by Spring Day, they likely won't suit my taste either. Which is cool. Glad you enjoy it.

I don't think the song is boring at all but I am 31 years old and past my boyband freak out phase so I appreciate this kind of sound a lot more, because old I guess. lol

Same with me, im starting to think the reason why i adore spring day (i easily got tired of all of their 2016 title tracks) is bc of my old age and my weakness for sad things . I cant get enough of that bittersweet feeling that this song brings
