I guess when TOP says he wants a quiet enlistment, fans don't give a shit. Lol. Junsu looked hella handsome. i felt weirdly proud. Also interesting junsu was hanging back with TOP. Coincidence, or are they actually familiar with each other? I know GD and Jaejoong were kind of friends a while back, but never heard about the other members interacting.
I kinda laughed that every single man enlisting left their head uncovered, but top had a beanie on AND the hood from his coat. I don't know if it's because he reeeeeeeaaaallly didn't want fans to see him, or if it's an indication of his eccentric army antics to come. I feel like that's something Korea might kick up a fuss about in the media later, for rudeness. But hey- I'm no army protocol expert.
TOP was part of the irl f4 along with Kim Hyun Joong, Jaejoong and Yoochun (yikes). So I'm sure he and Junsu have at least interacted from time to time, since he was/is close with 2 members of JYJ.
IKR. So disappointing. I was hoping that Top had distanced himself from LBH after Iris but nah, LBH sent him expensive wine before enlistment and Top bragged about it on IG saying "I love you bro!"
Barf. Without his looks he's trash, so unfortunate
Never knew about Junsu and TOP (but I guess idols from the same industry would bond faster?)
...but yes Jaejoong is still friends with BigBang members. He went to their last concert in Seoul and a BigBang fan caught him on camera waiting for the members for their after-party, which he apparently attended.
Didn't realize they arrived at almost the same time. Makes me think there was communication between both teams and the military so they could minimize the impact of fans present. A bit frustrating to see fans and press swarming. I mean, I get it, but it just feels disrespectful to me.
Anyway, I did appreciate seeing bits and pieces of the actual ceremony. I saw some other vids earlier in the week and it's just plain impressive to see that many men, normal civilians, brought together like that to fulfill their duties. Simultaneously noble and sad. I guess I've been feeling pretty morose and disturbed by politics in the US and stuff happening elsewhere in the world. Certain kinds of leadership and administrations that are the polar opposite of what I hope for coming to power. And then North Korea just doing one of their annual missile tests/threats...
Concerned about the state of world politics and then watching thousands of men lining up to sacrifice a couple years of their lives because there's a lunatic leading the country on their northern border. It's certainly sobering. Can't even think about Kpop in that context.
Wishing TOP and Junsu can complete their service in good health and the same for the thousands of brothers alongside them. Hopefully humanity can get its shit together some day so compulsory military can become an obsolete thing of the past.
This was kinda interesting to see. Korea seems a bit more "fancy" when it comes to new recruits day. For us there was no band playing, it was very business-like, lmao. Also good luck to both of them, the first day was so exhausting and draining.
Looking back at the whole thing now -after completing my service- i can say it wasn't this horrible experience i thought it would be! Because honestly when i went in i thought i wasn't gonna make it, and that i was basically not cut for military life with all the strict rules and whatnot.
Granted, it is a high stress environment and it really kind of tests you mentally and physically, plus it takes a while to get used to life in a unit. I feel like one of the most important things is how lucky you end being regarding the people you're serving with, and also the actual military personnel. It has the potential to really make your time there much much better.
Oh no, i went the kpop route lmao, and enlisted quite late at 27.
I went to college first, and i kinda took my sweet time there, plus i got a good job afterwards that i was hesitant to leave. But a lot of people go straight after high school or right after college if they know they're gonna graduate in time.
Oh yeah, i've heard horror stories too, one of the reasons i was dreading the whole thing when it was my time to go!
I feel maybe it's mainly fans coming from countries where there isn't mandatory military service so it's kind of a foreign concept i guess? And obvs the fact that they won't see their faves fro a good amount of time, that definitely makes things more intense haha!

Date: 2017-02-15 01:45 am (UTC)I've heard horror stories from the army, mostly secondhand accounts so I suppose it varies depending on who you end up with as your unit mates.
All things considered I do think that kpop fans make it a tad more dramatic then it needs to be haha
