Sympathy for Lady Vengeance directed and produced by Park Chan-Wookin 2005 has been listed in the 100 best films for the decade by The Times published in Britain. This is the only Korean film ranked at the 97th on the top 100.

The British daily has drawn up the list with those selected among the movies screened during the 21st century (2000-2009).

The newspaper explained the film: The third of Park Chan-wook’s fervid, savage revenge trilogy, Lady Vengeance ends with a somber acknowledgment of the futility of revenge. But not before buckets of blood have been spilled. Actress Lee Young-ae, 38, who has recently been spotlighted by her marriage with a Korean-American businessman last August, starred the lady.

The 98th placer is “Crash”(2004) directed by Paul Haggis, followed by “Battle Royale” (2000). The Devil Wears Prada directed by David Frankel in 2006 ranked the 100th and last of the list.

On the other hand, the top post has been taken by “Hidden” produced Michael Heneke in 2005.

The second place has been shared by The Bourne Supremacy/The Bourne Ultimatum directed by Paul Greengrass in 2004 and 2007, respectively.

No Country for Old Men by Joel Coen a! nd Than Coen in 2007 has taken the third place and Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle in 2008 came sixth.

The other major movies on the list are eighth placer Casino Royale by Martin Campbell in 2008, the Lives of Others(12th) by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck in 2006, 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days (14th) by Cristian Mungiu in 2007 and Minority Report (26th) by Steven Spielberg.

This movie as absolutely brilliant.

I prefer Oldboy more, but this one is the second best in the trilogy imo.

So artistically beautifully. Even just the intro.

It's a trilogy? I downloaded Oldboy but I've heard there's a prequel? and before I watch Oldboy I want to know if there's a special order to watch the movies and what the other movies are.

I hope I make sense, lol.

Yup that makes sense =)

You should watch Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance first, then Oldboy, then Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.

You don't HAVE to watch them in order though. I didn't and it was totally fine.

It's just the general theme that runs through all the movies, it really doesn't make a big difference to the effect of the movies on the order you watch them.

I personally think the first installment is the weakest and Oldboy is the strongest.

Freaking intense. INTENSE. I liked it just as much as the book save for some elements at the end which were more total in the book.

I love There Will Be Blood more, too!
LOLOL 'MY STRAW REACHES ACRRRROOOOSSSSSS THE ROOM'

So so so so good. I own the director's cut.

That part in the church where Eli is making him confess his sins is so incredibly intense, everyone goes quiet watching it.

Oldboy is my second favorite movie of all time, so if you're confused we can talk about it if you want ;D

And yah, it's great to watch all three, I think. The first installment is very graphic though >_> ahaha

Because not all films have to be dark/angst/tell some terrible but powerful story to be a great film?

The Devil Wears Prada offers everything a good comedy should without all the disguising aspect many of seem to offering now a days not to mention great acting by all players involved.

It also ranked 100, so not a big deal, no?

HAHA yes, I found that part funny esp. cause Paul Dano was slapping Daniel Day Lewis like a nut.

My favorite part is the scene near the end where Daniel is eating his steak with his hands and Eli starts begging him for money (or land, gas?).

I love this movie sfm. The filming for it is stunning and the storytelling was beautiful, and the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous. I could listen to it all day. ♥

I think the ownage comes when Daniel proceeds to bash his head in with bowling pins.

I thought that was more of a 'judgment day, I saw it coming' type ownage.

But the 'oh sorry nvm the land's drilled yo' was a 'LOL OMG' ownage, tbh.
