this are undoubtably funny ......... but its like they're just writing fans' inside jokes that they know we wanna hear (suga is lazy, jin is vain, etc). idk they've gotten slightly less interesting to me as they've really amped up playing to their characters/personas. it's like i know what they're going to say before they say it.

yeah i'm sure they will, but it's weird that (imo) they've starting leaning into them MORE recently, not less. i guess cause they want to create consistent personas for new fans to easily latch on to? and they didn't really need to do that before because they hadn't had a taste of potential domination yet/didn't think they'd ever be as big as they are?
or they're just letting fans' ideas/fantasies take over more because that's what's been working for them getting them all these fans so they're just amping it up to 11 to see how many more they can get?

they 100%, without a doubt, play up things fans want to believe in.
i'm sure suga has natural lazy tendencies, but why is it suddenly brought up in every thing about him? because it's an inside joke with fans and they wanna hear it.
why would rapmon act like he doesn't know how to use a knife? because fans like the idea of him being clumsy.
jin straight up admitted his pink phone was just a concept he continued to play because fans liked the idea of a sweet, innocent jin using a pink flip phone.

I mean it's not really 'always' brought up. It just seems to be something that stands out for some reason even though other stuff gets said about him. Because the other members have also said on multiple occasions that he's a hard worker. How else would we know that? I tend to work hard too but i don't talk about the work I do. I think taking singular incidents like you mentioned and acting like it's all they ever do is a bit reaching. It's not saying they don't play somethings up but I they aren't really doing it to the extent you're saying. Mostly because a lot of the stuff written here isn't fan jokes(?) I mean look at namjoon's or how they talk about each other. Many of the things they wrote aren't what fans at large talk or even joke about. See how many people that are for some reason surprised about Suga and Namjoon being close. And even watching them and all the content they don't really play it up that much. I find the only times they really play it up if they do is when they go on shows like weekly idol and even then not really. Look at Suga when they were on running man. He was far from lazy. In fact the most active one I think.

Jin's pretty much been playing up the vain thing since they started. He's doing it as much as he always has. Same with Suga. Also you seem to be stuck on Suga for some reason even when I mentioned the other profiles...

Namjoon, Jungkook, Taehyung, some of Hoseok's and Jimin's have quite a few things we don't usually hear or that get played up. Especially the relationship charts for the members (lamb skewers aside). I'm mostly talking about your first comment here because while there are a few played up answers most of them for at least half of the members aren't things that are usually played up is what i'm saying.

But honestly, they could write just about anything and it wouldn't change the thoughts of those fans that only latch on to certain things as long as it somewhat goes with what they want. I'm guessing Yoongi probably couldn't really be bothered and it was easier to go with that because most of the things from the other members aren't really stuff fans talk about all the time. Most not all. The others were more interesting because it's not what we hear all the time or what they always play up (lamb skewers aside). Like no one ever talks about Namjoon and Hoseok's obvious friendship even when they've talked about it before, Same with Yoongi and Namjoon and they've talked about each other plenty of times. Most of what they said in the profiles will be ignored by fandom at large for what they already think because even when the members do talk about other stuff certain fans(usually the loud ones) only hear/see what they want with the exception of a small set of fans. Namjoon's talked a lot about his feelings and such and people (aside from his stans and a small part of fandom) still just think of him as the tough leader.

I mean there are still fans stuck on the 'Jimin you got no jams thing' that was only said once and wasn't played on and that was two years ago and then only got brought up again once and that was probably because fans wouldn't shut up about it. Fans will latch on to what they think regardless of if they play it up or not.

i've only been a fan for about a year, but i noticed because i used to be DRUNK on bts and had to consume everything they did. then sometime around the run-era i realized i didn't need to watch EVERY v app broadcast, and bangtan bomb, etc because i could basically guess exactly how it would play out because they started repeating a lot of the same fan-favorite jokes/ideas over and over.

i guess that's the downside of how fucking active they are - just getting overwhelmed and having to take a step back and noticing these things. (basically the exact opposite problem that I have stanning winner -.-)

i'm butting in this convo but i get what you mean. i've been a fan for a shorter period than you (since january) but i noticed that there are some things they play up, like the lamb skewers thing or some ships interactions. even yoongi who i thought was not into doing these kind of things does the kind of boyfriend fanservice that makes me cringe.

it's interesting bc there's an old nb article about their success and one of the top comments is saying that they (the fan) are happy for them, but that it's obvious they've changed.

oh and where on reddit did you talk about it? on r/bangtan? i'd love to see other people's opinion about it, esp older fans!

Going from a decently popular small agency group to arguably one of the biggest current acts in kpop in one year is sure to change a person. I think they're the same in all the important aspects, but it's like Suga's selfies: at some point they figured out their appeal and all the exact angles and who wouldn't play that up?

I agree with both the OP and the above commenter in that they obviously have things about themselves that they play up, but they're not necessarily things that are untruthful. If you don't get fixated on one thing, you'll see that they're presenting us whole human beings in all aspects.

Like how Suga wants us to know how hard a worker he is. He's always beaming in his little Suga way when it's said about him. The dongsaengs he compliments, he calls passionate and hard working because that's high praise to Suga. And you don't give yourself high praise. You make jokes about being lazy.
