Celebrities Get In On The “Pony Makeup” Trend

On May 28 MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” PD Kim Tae Ho posted a picture of Park Myung Soo and Yoo Jae Suk to his personal Instagram. In the picture, both MC’s are sporting "pony makeup,” a trending filter that netizens and celebrities alike are using to take selfies with. (think "snapchat-like filters" pretty much)

“Pony makeup” comes from a Chinese photo editing app called “MAKEUPPLUS,” which was made in collaboration with Chinese photo app company Meitu and makeup artist Pony. On the app this particular filter is called, “Pony 05.” There are six different versions of the filter that can be used. It appears as though other apps are offering similar filters now as well.

Web toon author and chef, Kim Poong, posted a comedic picture of himself where he is drawing on the marks himself. “I’m not sure what it is, but I heard it was the trend so I am trying it out.”

I mostly made this so I can mention that I saw a whole bunch of Holika Holika masks for pretty cheap at Marshalls of all places (if you dont have that store near you its like a Ross or TJ maxx). I was amazed and confused

and on the topic of filters, I'm so annoyed that the dog filter on snapchat is being called the hoe filter nowadays, like why do people have to ruin an innocent cute thing >_>

also slightly related, i had no idea ssinnim was a douche. i had to unsubscribe after her recent xiumin cosplay controversy bc i found out she used to out lesbians when she was doing cosplay.

more on topic, my friend has that makeupplus app and i'm probably going to dl it purely for the filter that makes you look like you're rolling your eyes. the makeup filters also look very natural unlike other apps

rae morris accused pony of stealing her magnetic brush sets idea. pony released a statement saying she did get the idea from "similar brush sets around the world" (although as far as we know, rae morris is the only one who is selling them) and "made improvements" to them. basically her statement was "i did copy the idea, but it's not illegal so i'm still selling it".

i first read about it in the comments on her apology video for the xiumin cosplay controversy, so i went to google it to see if it's true.

all the results are in korean and most of them come from discussions on messageboards. basically when she did cosplay, she infiltrated a lesbian cosplayers forum and spread the pictures of other members saying "these people are lesbians". this is why she stopped doing cosplay, not because she naturally left to focus on makeup, but because she was chased out of the community.

I should have screencapped the comments Rae left on Pony's page. Rae was like "omg" and @ her brand manager. I know in car design they'll change just enough so it's not plagiarism like Hyundai does but they'll usually have a whole new interior design. Pony's makeup stand is EXACTLY like Rae Morris' and she didn't even change the color.

she didn't end up doing it but she did do "hijab makeup" and posted it on IG, saying she would post a tutorial for it but i've not seen the video.

she's said a LOT of suspect things about darker skintones and black people, usually in reference to her own "dark" skin, but her subs seldom reflect that.

this article (http://pann-choa.blogspot.com/2016/05/instiz-beauty-youtuber-turning-xiumin.html?m=1) has a better explanation. a lot of people were uncomfortable bc her video is viewable by minors and they also felt it was sexual harrassment. there were also exo-Ls who were simply upset that she made xiumin into a pervert. her apology video has international fans and korean fans arguing with and amongst each other. it was pretty brutal. but she seems to have recovered from it already.

It does. You can change it though with the rest of the makeup settings. The original uses a very pale makeup. I go change it in the foundation setting to my skintone and i change the contact lenses and lipstick as well. The apps makeup filters are very natural looking which is different than others.

i just downloaded makeup plus and ts great and helpful to me since i dont like the feeling of makeup on my face and never wear it.

also downloaded snow app but it streches my faces and idk how to fix it :C
ill probably end up deleting since i already have camera360 and lollicam, its no fun if you arent following people i guess.

Slightly O/T but how is her makeup line doing in the market? Is it as good as she promises? Cuz so far beauty reviewers I've seen on yt think it's a little... meh? Especially since her eyeshadow palette collab with Memebox before was so heavily raved about.
