Lee Hi Opens Up About “Breathe” and Concerns Over Her Long Hiatus

The behind-the-scenes video for Lee Hi‘s “Breathe” music video was released today, and in it, the singer opens up about what this song and her comeback means to her.

“Breathe,” one of the two title tracks from Lee Hi’s “Seoulite” album is a soulful ballad track that highlights the singer’s vocal skill and ability to relay emotions to the listener. “The song offers comfort and consolation to listeners, and it offered the same to me when I was recording it,” says Lee Hi.

“Seoulite” is Lee Hi’s first solo release in three years since her debut album, “First Love,” which came out in March of 2013. While she did release singles in collaboration with other artists in between, the three-year period between her solo albums seemed too long.

“I think I was worried a lot because even though I was only a rookie, I was on hiatus for three years,” says Lee Hi in the video. “I was worried that I might be forgotten, and if they would like the Lee Hi in her 20s when they had liked me when I was in my teens.”

It is looking like Lee Hi had nothing to worry about with “Breathe” topping charts in Korea as well as China. On March 11, China’s QQ Music revealed that on its “New Releases” chart, “Hold My Hand” and “Breathe” ranked number one and two, respectively. In its “K-pop Music Video” chart, the music videos for these songs also placed number one and two, respectively, and among all music videos, they ranked third and fifth, respectively.

Lee Hi recently had her first comeback stage through “M!Countdown” and her next appearance on a music show will be SBS’s “Inkigayo” airing March 13.

WINNER invites Lee Hi as guest on “EXIT” concert tour

Lee Hi kickstarts her comeback with a special performance on WINNER’s EXIT concert tour in Seoul, South Korea this month.

Making her comeback this month with the release of her album Seoulite, Lee Hi will continue her promotions by appearing as a guest artist on WINNER’s concert. According to YG Entertainment, the songstress will be making a special performance on March 12th and 13th.

This is not the first time that the two artists supported each other after WINNER’s Mino has collaborated with Lee Hi for her Seoulite return.

WINNER will be holding their first concert tour dates on March 12th and 13th at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena.

Lee Hi’s Recent MIRACULOUS Face Transformation Stirs Rumors Of PLASTIC SURGERY?

As Lee Hi gets more attention for her comeback, a number of her old photos resurfaced allowing netizens to compare it to her present look.

On March 9th, a netizen started a post on Pann questioning Lee Hi’s possible plastic surgery enhancement. It detailed photos during her pre-debut and early debut days which was followed her recent ones.

Meanwhile, the singer remains strong on the charts with her Seoulite return.

[Music Talk Talk] How Did LEE HI Capture the Hearts of 400 Million Chinese Fans?

LEE HI’s new singles – “BREATHE” and “HOLD MY HAND” – are getting a huge response in China. “HOLD MY HAND” and “BREATHE”, the double title tracks of LEE HI’s new album “SEOULITE”, became no.1 and no.2 on the charts of QQ Music, China’s biggest music streaming website.

LEE HI released a new album titled “SEOULITE” on March 9 and made a comeback after a three year break. During the three years, she has grown from a girl to a young woman.

The title tracks of LEE HI’s new album – “HOLD MY HAND” and “BREATHE” – have also received a huge response from her fans in Korea upon release. She topped the charts of all the eight major music steaming websites. On some charts, both tracks took the top two spots at the same time, which is very difficult to achieve.

What make LEE HI’s new album special is that it has added depth. LEE HI is recognized for her unique voice and excellent singing skills. She has demonstrated her talent as a singer by producing a number of hit songs such as “1,2,3,4” and “ROSE”. While her previous hit songs highlight her husky voice with a hint of funkiness, “HOLD MY HAND” and “BREATHE” focus more on showing her soulfulness.

LEE HI’s comeback is considered to be a success. It is encouraging to see the songs in her new album topping the charts not only in Korea but also in China. This shows that LEE HI has the potential to make it even in the overseas market. LEE HI’s popularity in China is even more meaningful considering that she hasn’t done any promotions in China so far.

Of course, the fact that she is from YG Entertainment played a part in her success in China. Her label-mates such as BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON are currently huge in China. It is no wonder that Chinese fans are curious about the female artist from the same label as their “oppas”. YG Entertainment surely has contributed to LEE HI’s recent success and their boy groups’ huge success in China by drawing on their remarkable directing capabilities to create good songs and unique images for them.

How long will LEE HI stay high up on the charts of QQ Music, a music streaming service provider that has 400 million subscribers? One thing is certain, and that is this is just the beginning. LEE HI is a jewel that YG Entertainment has been hiding in their secret jewel box, and it will be interesting to see how much influence she will exert on the Chinese music market.

I hope they get to perform World Tour at Winner's concert! I'm waiting on English subs for the BTS. Yaaaaas @ the overseas chart <3

Three years of hiatus and the only thing people want to talk about is her nose, smh. It looks like fillers 'cause literally a week ago her nose wasn't that sharp. Even in parts of her MVs her nose isn't that sharp. It's super recent. The rest of her face is weight loss, absolutely.

It hurts how most of YG artists talk about the fear of being forgotten bc of the long hiatuses YG makes them take. Fuck him tbh.

Do we know when is the second half going to drop or will it be like MADE and be forgotten for the rest of eternity (pls god no)?
I hope she drops more upbeat songs with the second half.

This is a good question. Pretty sure we have no confirmation of the second half release. It could either be at the end of this month (like with First Love's release) or we'd have to wait 'til May :o
Because April legally they have to debut Katie Kim & Akdong Musician's comeback as well.
But May I would *hope* that BB release MADE since it would mark a year since "M"

Why would they legally have to debut Katie Kim?

She won Kpop Star right? I think once I read somewhere that the agencies that sign them are contractually obligated to debut them within a year since they won or something like that. I could be wrong though.

Oh I see! Ty for explanining. Damn, half makes me wish there was a similar clause in all YGE contracts so talent like Lee Hi wouldn't have to wait 3 years for a comeback.

I'm pretty sure that's the contract for Kpopstar. That you have a debut a year after winning, which was April 2015 for Katie Kim.
