YG remains the worst, is harsh af to Winner's Seungyoon

On the February 19 episode of KBS 2TV‘s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,”WINNER appears as guests and perform songs off of their new mini album “EXIT : E.”

During the subsequent interview with MC Yoo Hee Yeol, WINNER shares about how they’ve been doing and what they’ve been up to since their debut.

Member Kang Seungyoon especially piques viewer’s interest with a story about a rough exchange with his boss, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk.



He reveals that Yang Hyun Suk has given him very harsh feedback, telling him, “Don’t write songs anymore. Just sing.”

Kang Seungyoon shares how a few wise words from label sunbae G-Dragon encouraged him to keep writing songs nonetheless. “G-Dragon told me, ‘Yang Hyun Suk is being harsh but don’t get hurt. As long as you keep doing what you’ve got to do, [Yang Hyun Suk] will acknowledge [your work] eventually,” Kang Seungyoon shares.

He continues, “And in fact, when G-Dragon listened to subpar songs I had written for the album, he would give me feedback in an extremely gentle way.”

I know that feeling of working for someone who does nothing but put down the things you do. It is a sucky feeling because you feel like you can't do anything right. It messes with your head, and there were days when I just so close to throwing in the towel or would have breakdowns. But is how GD gave him some encourging words I think he'll be ok.

AND the fact that it was only him and I that worked, he 100 times worst then YG, he would curse me out some of the times and actually called me a bitch in front of customers once. Dang, YG really does minimal for Winner, doesn't he? Like red-headed step child group. What is he so pre-occupied with that he (seemingly) can't run his business? Poor kid. I'm glad GD was encouraging towards him...and hopefully it doesn't squelch his passion for writing. It's something that takes practice and you have to DO IT to get better.

It makes me glad to hear that GD's encouraging him, though. To hear that kind of "don't worry, keep trying and it'll work out in the end" pep talk from someone of that stature has got to feel good, especially after your asshole of a mutual boss ripped you down.

All this constant dragging from his artists lately is nagl for YG.
He can be an ass all he wants but if he was smart, he would treat his artists like they deserve. I mean, aren't WINNER the group that's making him the most cash after BigBang? Get your shit together little man, you're damaging your already non-existent reputation.
Like, he can be the CEO all he wants and count his piles of cash but I really feel like he shouldn't be on charge of talent anymore. I feel like Teddy or even GD would do a better job at handling artists' material and their releases at this point.

hmm. not surprising that he continues to be a jerk, but why doesn't anyone inside the company or board of directors edge him into being less involved with the artists? Maybe then YG could get some decent vocal trainers. Also, I'm really surprised that as much as YG touts their groups as producers, they don't seem to offer basic music lessons like learning to compose? A lot of that seems to come from the individuals themselves. You'd think the company would try to foster more growth in their artists. If not YHS, you'd think someone else in the company would be trying to set this up. YHS really needs to quit micromanaging if he wants the company to continue to prosper and grow.
