8 K-Pop Acts That Haven’t Made a Comeback in a Long Time

While most K-Pop artists tend to release new music every year, sometimes it can take much longer due to overseas promotions, acting, long vacations, or even military enlistment.

Fans can get restless after a few months, so reaching multiple years can be even more worrying.

Let’s take a look a which singers have had the longest break from music promotions.

For this list, Japanese releases, OST songs, and other special collaborations were not considered comebacks.

8. Son Dam Bi ~ 26 months

Last Korean Comeback: Digital Single “Red Candle” (Dec 23, 2013)

As Son Dam Bi didn’t have live promotions for “Red Candle,” her previous comeback before that was November 12, 2012 (39 months). She gained huge popularity in the past for her hit dance songs “Crazy” and “Saturday Night.” Currently, she is active as an actress.

7. Trouble Maker ~ 28 months

Last Korean Comeback: Second Mini Album “Chemistry” (October 28, 2013)

Although they have only released two mini albums, Trouble Maker is considered to be one of the most high profile sub-units. Their songs are pretty much expected to be huge hits.

6. A-JAX ~ 28 months

Last Korean Comeback: Third Single “Snake” (October 28, 2013)

It has been a while since we’ve seen DSP Media’s boy group A-JAX in action. They made their debut in 2012, a highly competitive year for rookie boy groups. Jaehyung started his military service last year, while Sungmin recently left the group.

5. After School ~ 32 months

Last Korean Comeback: Sixth mini album “First Love” (June 13, 2013)

After School is usually one of the first groups to be mentioned on topics of “most wanted comebacks.” Some fans have even started a petition for asking their comeback. Following their 2013 album, sub-unit Orange Caramel released “Catallena” and “My Copycat in 2014, while other members have had solo activities.

Featuring unique concepts such as tap dancing, drumming, and pole dancing, there are always high expectations for their comeback.

4. Lee Hyori ~ 33 months

Last Korean Comeback: Fifth studio album “Monochrome” (May 21, 2013)

It seems that Lee Hyori likes to take long breaks in between albums. Before her “Monochrome” album in 2013, she previously released her “H-Logic” album in 2010.

3. Lee Hi ~ 35 months

Last Korean Comeback: First studio album “First love” (March 27, 2013)

Since the release of her first album, Lee Hi has also worked collaboration tracks such as “All I Want For Christmas Is You” with Park Bom and “I’m Different” with Akdong Musician‘s Suhyun. Fans just need to wait a little bit longer for her solo comeback, as she is currently working on her new album with HIGHGRND, Tablo‘s sub label under YG Entertainment. It reportedly is almost ready for release.

2. Supernova (Choshinsung) ~ 42 months

Last Korean Comeback: Single “Shes Gone” (August 9, 2012)

Supernova continues to focus their promotions in Japan. Their album “7IRO” even managed to top Oricon’s Daily Chart last year.

1. Se7en ~ 48 months

Last Korean Comeback: “Se7en Mini Album Vol. 2″ (February 1, 2012)

Last having promoted “When I Can’t Sing” and “Somebody Else” in 2012, Se7en was busy with his military service from 2013 all the way to the end of 2014. Following the expiration of his contract with YG Entertainment in early 2015, he set up his own agency and plans for a March 2016 comeback.

We kind of know why Se7en has made a comeback....its the pinkl elephant in the room. I never got into Ajax(not sure if spelling is right) and who the booty is supernova? We might see something from Lee Hi, isn't she signed to Tablo label or something like that so maybe we'll get something out of it soon...probably....,maybe.......who knows. Supernova is just doing Japan all the time so it's understandable not much people know them, but the even more suprising thing is that they debuted...in 2007;D Survive so many years by flying under the radar, yet still earning those yens;D

Lee Hyori might or might not comeback... Monochrome was so amazing I don't mind her taking her time and enjoying her life far from the entertainement industry (whi would blame her)

yeah, i was wondering about ze:a as well. i checked and their last "official" comeback was in june 2014 so... almost twenty months ago? apparently minwoo enlisted back in september and they released some sort of compilation / "best of" album. ze:a's always been a mystery to me because they're a talented group with decent vocals, good dancers and a handful of bops plus they have multiple members who're super well known individually (kwanghee, siwan, hyungsik, dongjun to an extent) but this never seemed to help the group with popularity itself.

I'm pressed with the delay in Winner's comeback but Akmu & Leehi fans must be more pressed lol esp Leehi's -- so many potential yet so underused..

I'm kind of mad Seo In Guk basically forgotten his first love and just focusing on acting nowadays. 3 dramas as leads and no new album. And to make matter worst, he didnt even sing for OST anymore even for his own dramas. I'm still stuck listening to his OST from Master's Sun. DX

I think he said in a recent interview he doesn't like singing OSTs for his own dramas for a few reasons. He doesn't like vocal songs for OSTs that much since they always play in really important scenes (the lyrics detract from the scene), and I think he mentioned sometimes it feels odd singing for your own drama too, especially when you're already starring in (versus someone else gaining from singing the OST. You're already the star of the show, so the singing opportunity should be given to others).

I was just thinking when he was going to make comeback. Hopefully soon before he enlists.

I will never understand why Top Media chose to debut yet another group when they've been letting 100% rot. They had such good momentum when they were on Immortal Song for a stint, but instead of capitalising on it management just sorta let it slide.
