BTS cancels two Japanese concerts because of health issues

BTS has abruptly canceled two scheduled Japanese concerts due to members Suga and V experiencing acute health problems.

Regarding the matter, BigHit Entertainment issued an official statement through its official Twitter on December 27.

The agency relayed that before the concert scheduled to be held in Kobe on December 27, Suga and V were unable to complete the rehearsal due to dizziness, and were immediately taken to a local hospital for a professional checkup. While the CT scan results showed that nothing was critically wrong, the medical experts said that physical activity on stage might cause them to feel dizzy again, and recommended to have Suga and V under further supervision.

According to BigHit, Suga and V firmly expressed their desire to go on stage and meet their fans, but considering their diagnosis, it was decided that they should focus on recovery for the time being.

Due to the concert appearing lacking and incomplete with two missing members, the agency made the decision to cancel both Kobe concerts scheduled for December 27 and 28. The group members will soon return to Korea where Suga and V are expected to go through a thorough medical examination.

Fans will be able to have their tickets fully refunded, and BigHit expressed its deepest apologies to fans for causing inconvenience.

this whole situation was bad and lots of things are being said here and there, but I just wish that it's not serious and they have enough time to proper heal from whatever happened.

soompi article didn't report but I read on twitter that the other 5 boys went to the stage, "performed" 3 songs iirc, and told fans what happened. after this a staff said that the show was canceled and people would have their tickets refunded. if that's what happened, this was a really shady move from big hit imo.

They may have been paid a guarantee by the concert promoter with a deal for an additional share of the gate. If they cancel outright they don't get paid the guarantee, but either way the ticketholders get a refund. I can't blame them; Japanese concert money is a lot to walk away from, and it's not just their livelihood but that of everyone on their team.

this is such a destructive mentality to have (if they mean going on to perform still).

they need sleep and rest. they're practically doing two comebacks at the same time with how busy of a schedule they have, plus it's the end of the year which is even more hellish for all idols.
idols aren't products and no matter how hard you try to sell them as such, they are people who can and will break if you make them work with these conditions.

I'm pretty sure they have surpassed exo levels of being overworked and yet bighit keeps confirming schedules. Two days of rest isn't going to help them if they go right back to it. "the first sign something was off is the concert wasn’t starting on time. While most places this is no need for concern in Japan this is really unusual. Japan is extremely punctual. Scary punctual. And this was like 20 minutes late. The next and most obvious sign something was off was when without warning or intro video, 5 of the members (no Yoongi or Taehyung) came onto stage. The woman next to me started yelling “何？何？” [what? What?]

I was at TRB in NYC when the concert was suddenly halted and it felt immediately like that all over again. They stood in a line with Namjoon at the center. He announced that they concert would be suspended (the word 中止 was used by the translator). As the translation was read the audience cried out in horror. Namjoon made comments about how not being able to provide a good stage with only 5 members but that’d they do their best and they apologize. Now my Japanese isn’t perfect and the translator used really polite speech so I was really confused.

Then the lights dimmed. A video began and Hold Me Tight started. It was bizarre. I was confused. Didn’t they say it was suspended. Why was the concert continuing on? Yoongi’s part was played over the sound system. Jin never seemed to move. His head down and eyes on the ground. Hoseok when he was shown on screen looked sad in a way he never really does. It felt so bizarre. The audience was silent. Some people moved their light sticks slowly to the beat. But most of us were frozen. Bangtan was pretty frozen too.

Then it finished. Without any explanation Let Me Know started. When it came time for Yoongi’s rap his spotlight came up where Jin still stood staring at the ground. Yoongi’s rap played over the speakers. The lights person seemed to realize the error and the spotlight eventually left. No more spotlights came up.

The song finished and the lights came back up. Namjoon explained to us that Yoongi and Taehyung hadn’t felt well during practice. At the time I didn’t really understand what was being said just that something happened to them before the concert. I did understand when he said they had gone to the hospital. Immediately there were cries from around me as girls began crying. The already fallen mood fell even more.

Namjoon apologized a lot. And told us to have the two missing members in our thoughts. And that they would skip ahead to the final song, I Need U (Japanese version) and to please try to enjoy for Yoongi and Taehyung.

The lights went down and they did a very condensed version of the song with only the 5 of them. They danced some time. But it was hard to concentrate. People tried to do fan chants along. But so many girls were crying.

Then they left. And staff came out to tell us we would be fully refunded and to check the official site for information.

A lot of people were frozen in their seats for a while. I left walking past girls crying. I messaged my friends and tried to find out what happened online.

I feel terrible for Yoongi and Taehyung. I hope they are well and recover. And that them and the rest of Bangtan can rest.

And I feel terrible for the other members. For having to come out on stage after two of the members had gone to the hospital to tell 8,000 waiting fans that the concert wouldn’t be happening. To have to perform 3 songs minus two of the members. For Namjoon to have to be the one to break the news."

The rest of the members performed inu, let me know (suga's song) and hold me tight (v's song) for the fans that waited, and rap monster kept apologizing to the fans/he was the one who told the crowd.

I hope they really rest well! There are so many conflicting stories out there but what matters most is Suga and V have a proper recovery and the rest of the members a proper rest as well!

Read about this earlier today. I though it was fake or at least exaggerated because twitter was doing the most with the fanaccounts.

Idk, I'm glad the company is doing something about it and that they're taki two days to rest at least, but this wouldn't have happened if they hadn't been so overworked and had some rest in the first place right after their comeback which followed their tour and their part 1 comebacks.

Their schedules this year and lasts' were insane.

Nausea my ass. I doubt Big Shit would let them skip out on a show because of just that. I have a bad feeling it's something more. These boys have been run ragged all year and of course it'll catch up to them sometime.

they've been going non stop this whole year so this is not suprising but damm does it suck. this shouldn't have to happen in the first place. hopefully they're resting and doing better. i'm kind of annoyed with people speculating/coming out with accounts of what happened at the concert which a lot of it seems to be based on nothing and people just taking it for the truth.

I can't at people thinking that BigHit shouldn't be blamed when even the boys held no restraints in complaining about their schedule and company on screen now. They need to open their eyes that bad management is at present.

Their schedule is insane. BH didn't learn from Jimin's past fainting incident. It's a lot worse now since at that time Jimin managed to tweet right after for damage control, but there are no mention from the boys now.

I can't finish watching that video. Namjoon has never sounded so sombre, all the fans crying, ugh... Also don't like how BH conveniently tries to cover it up by emotionally blackmailing the fans by letting the boys perform those songs? idk it rubs me the wrong way. (unless the boys themselves want to do it).

At this point they should just let the boys rest. Fans are willing to wait for them to recuperate.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about people here, but people on Tumblr and other places kissing BH's ass, acting like they're so caring and thoughtful for "allowing" these kids to get treated. Exactly who do they think pushed these poor kids to the point of exhaustion?

Also, it's not just BigHit, the entire industry is fucked up in many ways. Side-eyeing myself for coming back to kpop in the first place.

what i don't understand is who authorized the other members to go out and perform and announce the cancellation anyways.. they should have just had a staff member announce to the concert goers that the show would be canceled due to the circumstances and refunded accordingly..this should have been handled more professionally in my opinion.

its sucks when an artist has to cancel anything in general, but people should be more considerate of the artist, both physically and mentally. does that make sense?

this whole ordeal couldve been avoided if big hit didnt try to squeeze in japanese concerts in the middle of bangtan's korean promo cycle for Run + year end shows season. most of the fans were dismayed as soon as bangtan's december schedule was laid out. i honestly dont know why they even thought to make bangtan juggle simultaneous korean and japanese activities; they were doing ok with the previous set up of alternating Korean and Japanese comebacks. this whole japan edition of HYYH pt.2 onstage was ill planned from the beginning and frankly this is just big hit's way of skipping media promos for INU jpn ver single. instead of the normal niconico broadcast and a few tv promo interviews, they went the concert route because it's the best way to milk that JPY from JPN fans.

i feel so sad that the boys will have to clean up most of this mess and blame themselves for poor health either way.
Big Hit, you better learn your lesson from this. let bangtan finish Run promo cycle then give them a full break for a month or two. just debut your other planned groups for the meantime.

This company are assholes, I can't believe anyone would defend them let alone fans of these boys.
If they are getting to the point where they are so over-worked that they need to get medical attention and aren't even allowed by doctors to work then that's BigHit's fault. Idc if the band are like 'we're happy to work' their management are supposed to look out for them and make sure they are well. If nothing else just so that it means they aren't getting into situations like this.
