♫ hanteo releases their end of the year chart ♫

a pann choa post translated on it the chart can be found here, but there's really not much going on there, so..

there were individual member ver. for both exodus + lmr too so i'm not sure why those were left out, but! i'm guessing everyone knows that by now.

some facts that i saw floating around:

☆ third year running that exo has taken the top two spots on the chart.
☆ the first year since their debut year that snsd hasn't made it into the top ten with one of their albums. past rankings include: #4 and #5 in 2009, #2 - #3 and #6 in 2010, #2 in 2011, and #9 in both 2013 / 2014. despite this they're still the highest charting female group this year.
☆ not including years that they were inactive of new releases (2011 and 2014), it's the fifth year running that shinee has made the top five on the chart. this is also their highest ranking ever on the chart, and the first year since their debut that shinee has sold more albums than super junior.
☆ second year running that infinite has made the top ten. (they also made it in 2011, but didn't in 2012.)
☆ bts' highest ranking position on the chart is eleven spots higher than their highest from 2014.
☆ d&e (donghae & eunhyuk) is the highest charting subunit group.
☆ when combing sales from his second mini album (released in september) jonghyun would be both the highest selling soloist and male soloist.
☆ highest charting female soloist is taeyeon. she's also the only female soloist to make the chart.
☆ seventeen is not only the highest selling rookie of the year, but the highest selling rookie group since exo in 2012 who they out sold by 6k (and this isn't including seventeen's sales from their first mini of the year).
☆ the following artists ranked higher on this year's chart than they have in the past (the number that follows the name is their highest ranking position in the post): a pink (#35 in 2014) and vixx (#15 in 2014).
☆ first year that vixx has made the top ten.
☆ only two female artists (ie: f(x) and snsd) made the 2014 chart while four made it this year (a pink, f(x), snsd and taeyeon), taking up five spots in the top thirty.
☆ got7 is the only artist from jyp to make this chart. this is also the first year since 2009 that 2pm hasn't cracked the chart.
☆ big bang is the only artist from yg to make the chart (which isn't surprising considering the lack of promotions from yg this year + the fact that most of ikon's sales weren't registered onto hanteo by yg, because they would have made it otherwise).
☆ albums that just missed the cut on making it (aka: who sold 35k - 51k) include: 2pm's "no.5" (48k), btob's "complete" (47k), ikon's "welcome back" (46k), seventeen's "17 carat" (45k), tvxq's "rise as god" (41k), junsu's "yesterday" (40k), big bang's "d" (36k), red velvet's "the red" (36k), and kyuhyun's "fall, once again" (36k).

Exo was expected lol but I'm not complaining because I loved exodus a lot. Wowowow at Bangtans ranking though - both parts were amazing and I take this as a sign that good things are to come for them in 2016!

Looking at this list though just makes me realized how much I enjoyed the music put out by Kpop artists this year though - I've listened to most of these albums and I can name at least one song from most of them that I loved.

i was thinking that too? i did some searching and all the album sales are a bit lower overall on hanteo than on gaon. i found a forum on onehallyu (http://onehallyu.com/topic/3691-hanteo-sales-thread-updated-dec-20/) that's been keeping tabs on sales all year and they have:

exodus (k): 320,600
exodus (m): 210,600
love me right (k): 198,000
love me right (m): 102,900

they'll def be over a million on gaon though.

anyway i know i keep saying this but its only because its true: 2015 WAS A GREAT YEAR FOR K POP MUSIC! and looking at this list just reminds me of how many albums i loved this year.

only thing i'm bothered about is too much males in this list and not enough females.

About not expected artists: I kinda got "?" when I saw D&E in top10,Yonghwa as a best selling solo artist (ok, if Taeyeon relesed earlier she prob would be first, but still) and Sunggyu on the list at all, wow.
Yeah, it's like for some awards BB's singles were counted as an album (MAMA?) but not in harsh world of selling I see lol

We all know I'm always here to freak out over Seventeen slaying all the things, but I'm pleasantly surprised at just how high they charted. Boys Be killin' it.
Hella impressed at Suju still pulling those numbers. Hopefully their fans will stick around for the multi-year army-induced hiatus.

Side-eyeing everything about the near-total lack of the awesome girl group releases this year, though. Srsly where my ladies at?

it's like a reverse situation of the digital sales list here, legit. only four boy groups made the top 100 in digital sales on both naver and genie. i always forget that it's mostly like: physical sales = boy groups (minus a few groups like a pink, snsd, f(x), ect.) and digital sales = female groups (minus big bang, exo, shinee, sometimes beast, ect.).

Yep. Idk why people are surprised when afaik it's always been like that: girl groups dominating the digital list and boy groups dominating the physical. And digital chart is considered the most important anyway? most of male groups except the ones that can chart well/decently like bb, exo, shinee, beast, infinite, etc are considered "failures" by many people because they don't have public appeal like girl groups and only survive of fandom. At the end of the day I think that doing well digitally is better that doing well physically.

The observation about infinite is wrong. Infinite made top 10 in 2012 (not 2011. 2012 they released The Chaser), 2014, 2015. They were 11th in 2013 LOL.

2013 is considered their best selling year (which is bullshit cause they sold more in all the following years) and yet it's the year that broke the streak. W h y

Now where are the people who said Infinite had become irrelevant. Funny considering their sells have been steady for 4 years.

Surprised Sunggyu sold more than Teen Top and B1a4. Teen Top used to be considered infinite's "rivals", what happened? And I thought b1a4 had a big fandom?
