iKON’s B.I and Jinhwan Become Fixed Members in New Variety Show



iKON B.I and Jinhwan will be appearing in their first variety show, JTBC Mari and Me.

According to several media insiders on November 27, B.I and Jinhwan have joined the crew of “Mari and Me” as fixed members. Kang Ho Dong, Seo In Guk, Lee Jae Hoon, Eun Ji Won, Shim Hyung Tak, and Kim Min Jae have already been recruited, and with the addition of B.I and Jinhwan, the lineup has at a total of eight people.

“Mari and Me” is a variety program that highlights the interactions between humans and animals by letting the members take care of pets for a short period of time when the original owners are unable to. Media insiders say B.I and Jinhwan have their own pets in real life, which made an impact on their decision to join.

Their appearance is especially gaining attention because this is the first time they are appearing on a variety show as fixed members. It will also fill fans’ desire to see them more because they haven’t appeared much on air since their official debut in October.

Meanwhile, the first episode of “Mari and Me” will air on December 16 at 10: 50 p.m KST.

[텐아시아=이은호 기자] Group iKON will hold an iKON-only concert on January 30 and 31 next year at the Olympic Gymnastics Hall in Seoul.

iKON who surprised the music scene by holding debut concert “SHOWTIME” upon their debut on October 3 at the Olympic Gymnastics Hall will hold another iKON-only concert at the same venue on January 30 and 31 next year, to prove themselves as a “monstrous rookie” once again.

iKON held a concert upon their debut at the Olympic Gymnastics Hall, which is one of the largest concert halls in Korea, and there has been no such case for a rookie idol group in Korea. iKON demonstrated their already-big popularity by selling out all the 13,000 tickets for the concert upon the opening of ticket sale. Major foreign media outlets including Japan’s six big sports dailies and Chinese newspapers came to the concert hall to attend iKON’s press meeting held on the same day. That showed high big global popularity iKON is already enjoying overseas.

Fans are paying keen attention to what kind of captivating performances iKON will present at their concert to be held on January 30 and 31 next year, after fascinating 13,000 people of the audience with their veteran fancy performances in October this year.

It appears that iKON will once again captivate the K-pop scene at the year-end. iKON’s single album “APOLOGY”, which was released on the 16th, made a big hit, topping music charts for three times in a row, and they are gearing up to prove their potential as a powerful rookie once again with their full debut album to be released next month.

Ahead of a new song release planned for next month, iKON is shooting a music video from the 24th. Seo Hyeon Seung, who is expected to bring up iKON’s new image, will direct the music video. With the news about their music video shooting, music industry insiders and fans are paying attention to them.

In particular, the album to be released next month will be the finale of iKON’s debut project. It is expected that with the album, they will continue to sweep music charts, which began with their warm-up single album “MY TYPE”, their official debut song “RHYTHM TA” and “APOLOGY”.

[헤럴드POP=김유진 기자] Group iKON’s new song “APOLOGY” took No.1 on two of Gaon’s weekly charts.

According to Korea’s official music chart Gaon on November 26, iKON’s “APOLOGY” took No.1 on Gaon’s digital chart and download chart for the 48th week of the year 2015 (Nov. 15 – Nov. 21, 2015).

On Gaon’s digital chart for the 48th week of this year, San-E and Mad Clown’s “Sour Grapes”, Dynamic Duo’s “Jam”, and EXID’s “HOT PINK” took the second, third, and fourth place, respectively. ZICO’s “Boys And Girls Feat. Babylon” that was ranked fifth on the digital chart took the No.1 on streaming chart. On album chart, B.A.P’s “MATRIX” took No.1.

On Gaon social chart which is the benchmark for global popularity of Korean singers, EXID’s “HOT PINK” took the No.1. On Gaon-Weibo chart that shows the degree of popularity for Korean-Wave stars in the Chinese region, CNBLUE’s Jung Yong-hwa and his team CNBLUE took No.1 on the individual popularity chart and team’s popularity chart, respectively.


iKON only debuted for 2 months but have 6 music videos

[스타뉴스=길혜성 기자] Rookie idol boy group iKON (B.I, KIM JINHWAN, BOBBY, SONG YUNHYEONG, JU-NE, KIM DONGHYUK, JUNG CHANWOO) once again continues their aggressive moves, taking six music videos (MV) in only two months since their official debut.

According to some insiders, today (the 24) iKON is shooting the MV of a song included in their full debut album to be released on December 14.

For their debut project, iKON released their debut warm-up single album “MY TYPE” on September 15, and debut half mini-album “WELCOME BACK” that has six songs on October 1. On the 16th this month, iKON released two digital single albums, “APOLOGY” (BOBBY and B.I’s duet song) and “ANTHEM”. The release of their full debut album is scheduled for December 14.

Already, five music videos related to iKON’s debut project ─ “MY TYPE”, “RHYTHM TA”, “AIRPLANE”, “APOLOGY”, and “ANTHEM” ─ have been already shot. iKON is shooting one more MV for a song in their full debut album, making a total of six MVs in just two months after they made a first step in the K-pop scene. This is a first for a Korean idol group.

Although iKON’s label, YG Entertainment (“YG”) is one of the biggest labels in Korea, iKON’s moves are indeed an aggressive marketing strategy, with which it aims to win iKON fans’ hearts with good contents.

For BIGBANG, now the best K-pop boy band, YG did its best holding their concerts across Korea and producing and releasing several albums from their debut in August 2006 until they made a big hit with “LIE” in the second half of 2007, even when they were not a big-name artist.

Now more eyes are on iKON’s future steps as they are an ‘ex-rookie’ who shoots six music videos in just two months after their debut with support by YG.

iKON has already swept the top spots of Korean and overseas music charts and of K-pop TV programs. They also took the first place of the MV chart of QQ Music, China’s biggest music streaming website, and 26,600 fans came to their fan meeting tour held in Japan.

In early October, iKON held their own showcase-like concert surrounded by about10,000 fans’ cheer in the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena, one of Korea’s largest indoor concert halls.

Starting with iKON-only concert to be held at Fukuoka Kokusai Center on 11 February 2016, iKON will have Japan arena tour to meet with about 150,000 fans at Tokyo Nippon Budokan on 15 – 16 February, at Kobe World Memorial Hall on 20 – 21 February, at Makuhari Messe Event Hall on 12 – 13 March, and at Osaka-jo Hall on 15 March.


Expectations running high with the MV shooting of iKON’s new song to be released in December

[OSEN=선미경 기자] Boy group iKON is shooting a music video (MV) for their new song to be released in December.

From the 24th, iKON started their MV shooting ahead of the release of their full debut album next month. The MV is produced by Director Seo Hyeon Seung. This is iKON’s sixth MV in two months since their debut. As iKON’s MVs have appealed to the fans with different images from emotional to intense ones, expectations are also high for the new song’s MV.

Earlier, YG Entertainment changed the entire timeline of iKON’s debut project for some refinement. According to the changed plan, their digital single album “WELCOME BACK” was released on the 16th, which was followed by hits of “APOLOGY” and “ANTHEM”.

In particular, recently released “APOLOGY” has swept music charts for the third time in a row. From this single album, YG’s top producer TEDDY participated in the making of the song, creating synergistic effect with iKON.

iKON’s debut project aims at releasing a new song every month, which is unusual for a rookie. Although BIGBANG’s “MADE” project was led to a success earlier, there are not many artists who can release a new song every month. iKON’s project was possible thanks to their solid fan base built even before their debut and the members’ excellent skills.

[OSEN=강서정 기자] Group iKON’s B.I and KIM JINHWAN will appear in JTBC TV’s new show “Marie & Me”.

According to TV industry insiders on the 27 this month, B.I and KIM JINHWAN have joined “Marie & Me” show as fixed cast members. Before B.I and KIM, Kang Ho-dong, Seo In-guk, Lee Jae-hoon, Eun Ji-won, Shim Hyung-tak, and Kim Min-jae confirmed their appearance in the show. Now that B.I and KIM JINHWAN also joined, eight members of cast for the show have been confirmed.

“Marie & Me” is a TV show in which the cast members take care of other people’s pets for a fixed period of time. The stories that take place between those pets and the cast members will be depicted in the show. According to insiders, B.I and KIM JINHWAN were selected as the cast for the show, as the two actually have dogs.

Notably, as it is the first time for B.I and KIM JINHWAN to appear in a TV show as regular cast members, fans are paying keen attention to the show.

Even though iKON has drawn enormous popularity since their official debut in October, they have not appeared on TV that much, so fans could not see iKON members as much as they want. However, now that B.I and KIM JINHWAN will regularly appear on TV in “Marie & Me” show, fans will be able to see iKON on TV more. As iKON have not appeared on TV frequently since their debut, fans are paying keen attention to “Marie & Me” show to be first aired on December 16.

In “Marie & Me” show where B.I and KIM JINHWAN will appear, the cast members will take care of other people’s pets for a fixed period of time. The show will depict stories that take place between the cast members and the pets. It is also the first JTBC show in which famous MC Kang Ho-dong appears. Seo In-guk, Lee Jae-hoon, Eun Ji-won, Shim Hyung-tak, and Kim Min-jae have confirmed their appearance in the show, too.

So far, most of the TV shows that depicted stories of stars with animals have been focused on emotional “healing”. In Korea, there is a saying which goes, “If a person likes babies and animals, he is never a bad person”. As such, babies and animals are the purest creatures on earth. So, communication between stars and animals have given viewers of those TV shows kind of psychological rest, especially for those who were tired of the complexity in human relationships.

The birth of another one of such pure and good TV shows is being welcomed by the public. People are paying especially keen attention to the chemistry (harmony) to be created between iKON and pets. They might take care of the animals skillfully, or get surprised by unexpected behaviors of those animals. Since B.I and KIM JINHWAN actually have dogs, they are expected to show better harmony and emotional exchanges with animals.

Plus, as B.I and KIM JINHWAN have not appeared on TV that frequently since their debut, general TV viewers other than iKON fans cannot expect what the two will show on TV. People are paying keen attention to what kind of talent and wits B.I and KIM will present in their first TV show, as the two have accumulated some experiences of performing in TV music shows before their debut in Mnet’s “WIN” and “MIX & MATCH”. Plus, another point of people’s interest in the show is whether B.I and KIM will become popular TV stars by creating harmony with already-famous TV stars such as Kang Ho-dong and Eun Ji-won, as well as other cast members including Seo In-guk, Lee Jae-hoon, Shim Hyung-tak, and Kim Min-jae.

iKON have not appeared on either TV shows nor music shows that frequently so far since their debut, but now that B.I and KIM JINHWAN have joined “Marie & Me” show as regular cast, fans will be able to see iKON more on TV.

What “APOLOGY” danced by iKON will be like? Dance version of the song’s MV unveiled

[텐아시아=이은호 기자] iKON unveils dance version of the music video of “APOLOGY”, the title track of their double digital single album.

On the 27 at 9am, YG Entertainment announced the news by posting a making film consisting of behind photos taken at the shooting of the video on the company’s official blog.

In the making film unveiled by YG, iKON members are shooting the dance version of “APOLOGY”’s music video, demonstrating the tender but disciplined group dance of “APOLOGY” as well as individual dance that well-displays the characteristics of each member.

B.I called the dance video “kind of extension from ‘APOLOGY’’s music video, and JUNG CHANWOO, JU-NE, and KIM DONGHYUK said, “Each of the seven members performed the entire dance of ‘APOLOGY’ alone. We’re enjoying shooting this video, as it is our first time to shoot this kind of dance video”.

The members of iKON went on to ask for fans’ interest in the new video, saying, “In this performance video (the dance version of ‘APOLOGY’’s music video), you can see our singing, facial expressions, and dancing, so you can look forward to it. Please watch the video”.

The music video of “APOLOGY” released on the 16 this month along with the song itself drew big attention for iKON members’ sophisticated acting that expressed the sorrow and pain of breaking up with a lover. As of November 27 in the morning, the music video is recording 3.69 million views on YouTube.

iKON’s “APOLOGY” took No.1 on Gaon’s digital chart and download chart for the 48th week of this year (Nov. 15 – Nov. 21) which was announced on the 26, following the footsteps of the great success of “MY TYPE” and “RHYTHM TA” on charts.

iKON will hold another iKON-only concert on January 30 and 31 next year at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium in Seoul where they held their debut concert in October this year.

A researcher at a Korean stock firm said that iKON growth is comparable to that of EXO





iKON nominated for Seoul Music Awards Rookie Category; nominations are based on the the specific single and the album it came from the artist is nominated for. Regardless of how many comebacks they have in a year it is not culminative.

Against my will I'm finding myself interested by how focused/dependent iKON's promotions have been on the Internet and social media for domestic AND international audiences. In the almost 2 momths since they've debuted they've only been on 3 music shows. It's been all concerts/fan meetings.

Can't wait for the dance performance mv for Apology, especially if they're gonna show each member dancing on their own. I'm curious about the next unit.

B.I's playlist makes me miss Spotify more than I already do. Freakin' Narnia.. Also, we need a studio version for the rock Rhythm Ta asap.

In what variety show do you think the boys would be amazing at? I'm not familiar with a lot of them but I really like Running Man.

And seriously, wtf at YG not letting them promote Apology when it's such a good song to get the public recognition. Like, wtf YG? Get them on the fucking music shows for a at least 2 weeks, please!


It's so awkward seeing Bobby or any Kpop idols/celebrity tweeting and instagramming in English or the language you understand. Kim Jong Kook is one of them, when I saw his instagram all in English, i was wondering if it's real or not LOL.

Well iKON/TeamB already had the WIN and Mix and Match DVDs and the Seasons Greetings are just something YG does regularly so I didn't even consider it a special dvd LOL.

To be fair they did go to Inki but it got canceled. Their Vapp game got canceled for the same reason. I think they are doing M!Countdown this time around though.

My boys are indeed impressive...best debut in (2015) and arguably in kpop...

But obligatory 'fuck you YG' for not letting them appear on music shows more. Only 3 times in 2 months is fucked up...

But yey for the new subunit (probably June and Jinhwan) whoever it is can't wait
